I think the mechanism of how Vit D deficiency can cause IR is when we are low Vit D it can cause depression and increase stress.. high cortisol can cause high glucose . High glucose makes insulin high.. And become insulin resistance to diabetic...

Amazing that is topic has come up! When I was living in France and during summertime I had a blood check-up and my doctor pointed it to me that my vitamin D level was very low almost nonexistent! My dark skin was not absorbing any from the sun,

This video spells out why VITAMIN D is critical to our health. About 4 years ago I came across information which indicated that nearly all cells in the body have receptors for VITAMIN D and so last year when my younger brother had Covid-19 in Boston I was very concerned for him. I knew that he was unlikely to have a good reservoir. So I called his doctors and asked him to check my brother's VITAMIN D level. They repeatedly refused to do so through his 7 weeks of hospitalization, going as far as asking his son to take me off the list of people who can inquire about his health.
Augmentation of his VITAMIN D could have helped. He died without the simplest help.
Our medical doctors are barely functioning people. Not good enough.

I'm sorry for your loss. Not sure where you live in the world but here in Australia, testing for Vitamin D is a common add on when you go for a basic blood test. We have a free health system (though we pay a levy each year via our taxes) and, because doctors have been requesting this test as a standard, the government recently commented that they were concerned about "unnecessary tests for Vitamin D". It's always about money!

I went to my doctors to ask for my thyroid tests to be redone as I felt I had no energy to live. In addition the doctor did a Vit D test. I will be forever grateful to him for doing that as my results came back with a reading of 40nmol. It took 6 months on 4000iu per day to get up to a normal level. On a maintenance dose of 1000iu per day my levels dropped back down. So now I stick at 2000iu per day. It was fascinating to watch your video and see that my mitochondria were suffering and causing my loss of energy.

I looked for everything to end the winter colds and in 2009 I found VItamin D. I had myself tested and I was 8ng per ml. I started supplementing to 40 ngs or higher... I went 10 years without a head cold in the winter. No sore throat, no stuffy nose, no watery eyes.. no cough. NADA! In 10 years. When before I had colds at least 3xs per winter. I haven't been sick in 10+ years but 3 years ago with a stressful job and bad diet I noticed pain in my lower shinbone when running. Instead of the bone getting stronger it was getting worse to the point that I had the pain while simply walking. I did a Vit D lab test and low and behold I was so deficient that I was off the scale, lower than the lowest. Took ampules with high doses as the doctor prescribed and got back into the good bracket in 2 months. I also checked insulin and other hormones but by that time I was already months on keto so the insulin was fine an the weight started dropping.
I'm 2 and a half years on keto, full of energy, lost the belly fat, liver is clean and the doctor can't believe me that I ever had a fatty liver. Arteries are clean, heart is great, everything is tip top.

I eat fried eggs almost every day, first in olive oil now exclusively in butter, I add some bacon to them and it tastes great.
Salmon baked, fried, sardines, pork, beef roast, boiled and a salad on the side from tomatoes, hot pepper, red pepper, lettuce, rucola. Rucola and Lettuce with olive oil and apple cider vinegar, vinegar is very important and effective for weight loss.
From eating 2 a day I naturally progressed to eating OMAD since I am not hungry at all.
Most recently I favor beef, the fattier the better, instead of roasting it where I lose the fat at the bottom of the pan I boil it for 2 hours slowly in tomato sause (no sugar) with peppers and dried mushrooms for taste (Boletus edulis).
Beef is a Ruminant as has more healthy fatty acids like palmitic acid (C16:0) and stearic acid (C18:0) which are the ones that keep you satiated. Pork and Chicken have much more omega 6 linoleic acid which makes you feel hungry and gain weight.
If the Beef fat is yellow-ish that's omega-3, if the fat is hard like wax then it's rich in stearic acid.
I eat all the cheeses I can get my hands on. Any fermented milk product can do. I sometimes eat pure butter when I'm lazy. :D

Your comment about elderly breaking their leg ... My mother broke her knee years ago. After that she has not been able to walk from room to room anymore, it made her handicapped. However she has rheumatoid & osteo arthritis both, which compounded the problem. If possible, do a video on rheumatoid. More people including myself need to be educated on it.

This was extremely detailed... thank you. What I find amazing is that this information isn't getting out there. I have been on to Vitamin D since 2009... after seeing a video by Carol Baggerty. A woman who had breast cancer and happy to say she is still alive. I knew immediately this was it. And have supplemented ever since. It is frustrating to me that I can't get others to take Vitamin D. If you are looking for a new video, I might do one on D and cancer. Almost every cancer is pushed back from D.

Most overweight/obese folks are typically Vitamin D deficient. I found this out in the middle of the year, I tested at 19 and a normal range is 30 to 80. After using liquid D3 by Solgar daily for 3 months I retested at 31, so no longer insufficient. Working on getting my weight down a bit. I notice I have less fatigue now that I'm no longer insufficient.

Great information, thank-you. You did not mention/ confirm that vit. D is only made with the UVB ray, that is usually out between the hours of 10-2:00 in spring and summer, and that the skin also needs time to reabsorb the vit D it makes, so you aren't supposed to shower or use soap for at least 24 hrs. afterwards to get the full benefit. Can you confirm? I learned this as an esthetician, thanks.
