I bought the KOTA UL this summer to replace my previous travel backpack. It has worked out great and I like that I can cinch it down and use it as a day pack for local hikes and sightseeing.
That jungle camp was awesome! I hope you had a great stay and got to see the big 5. The bag review was great and I did make a special note of the dude wipes! You demonstrated the salient features well.
The bag is money well spent. I use mine for a flight/overnight/survival bag flying planes in Alaska, a quick drop of non-TSA items and I have a bag for airline travel to pickup and move airplanes around the country.
Love mine. Been using it for over a year now and like you say, Dan, you can use it for both hiking/travel and I have. I really like how the frame comes out if you want so it slides under that seat in front of you on the plane.
Love my Kota UL, best Kickstarter project I have ever supported. I have even used it on a hiking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail in MN, we were on the trail for 3 days and my total pack weight was 26 lb. It was comfortable on the trail and very functional, and it is absolutely the best for traveling. Pretty amazing you are in Kenya, hope you are enjoying your trip abroad.
Love mine. I had a bad injury, fractured pelvis, and this pack takes all the weight off when hiking though the airports. I do use the hip belt in the Airport, but it is easily tucked in before stuffing it under the seat in front of me.
Outdoor Vitals does have some talent in their research and development department. I have quite a few of their products for that reason, and I always find your product reviews to be fair and honest. I'll always support the cottage industry over the big box brands and I find Outdoor Vitals to hover somewhere in-between a big box brand with Cottage industry practices. They're sort of a hybrid.
Whoa, very beautiful. So cool, you got to experience the wildlife like that for what sounds like 8+ days. Looking forward to the Sawyer video. Having readily available drinking water is something I don't really think about until I'm backpacking. Crazy to think that for a large amount of people, that is their everyday situation.
Great video man. Think I have a new Christmas gift for a family member with this one. Much love and God bless from Miami! 🙏🏽 Btw, Garage Grown Gear has great gift options and low prices too!!
I love your channel, I'm going to do a Hike Through on the Ice Age Trail next year in May with my service dog. My question is do you know what would be a good pack for my service dog to take. She is going to pack her own food. The hike will be my first time outside of the Army doing something like this. Thank you, I hope to here back on this question.
but what is the difference between dude wipes and just regular wipes? I’ve seen them in the store, but they seem expensive. It seems like it’s just the name that’s the difference.
Have been noticing your comments from time to time on med kits. I would add some trauma items to yours…goal: get yourself or others to a trafficable egress route in case of bone breakage or puncture wound. Recommend adding: SAM splint, triangular bandage, tourniquet, and eye drops / eye wash. You should also have a small Quick Clot packet.
Hi Dan, thanks for your videos! Just wondering if you have tried the mammut active spine backpacks? If yes, what's your take on it? If not, would you consider reviewing it?
I use mine all the time. Its held up great and packs well. Travel, camp, whatever. It stays loaded with essential gear, and I just throw my clothes and whatnot in and go. I'm 6'8" and 320. The pack hieght and shoulder straps fit great. Only problem is that the waistbelt isn't long enough for larger humans. There's supposed to be a fix coming, but I haven't seen it yet. I improvised using one of the gear straps that came with to add length but it's not comfy.
Very nice and organized for a travel bag. But as a light hiking backpack, i think it have to many unnescessary features that add weight and far to many failure points with all zippers and pockets. Just my opinion, of course, but I wouldn't use it hiking.
TSA approved for checked luggage, by rule it is too big to use as a carry-on. Most USA airlines will let it pass as a carry-on, but international flights will have you check it.
Hey Dan, did you also feel really uncomfortable with the way they treat you in the hotels and such? They treat you like a god or something like that. I remember one day in Tanzania in that I wanted to go for a walk, and the hotel put me 2 security guys to go with me... Super awkward.
I like your videos. But don’t bash companies when they have to actually cut a corner or two to provide a quality tent. State facts if you are going to recommend a company and product. Im a realest and understand cost material and employees with sacrificing some quality.
Outdoor Vitals have some great products BUT!! Their customer service is one of the worst to deal with. You will NEVER be able to speak to anyone in person because they only communicate via E-Mail. They absolutely refuse to have anybody call you back or even give you a number to call to speak with anybody. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! They are totally removed from any personal connection with their customers. Hopefully they will fix that problem soon.
Why wouldn't you say the same thing about Big Agnes, Nemo, Hyperlite Mountain Gear, Black Diamond, Durston Gear, Flextailgear, Mountain Hardwear, etc.. etc.. since I have talked about them just as much or likely even more in multiple upon multiple videos? So because you don't like a brand that makes me a shill? Got it. Noted.
@@DanBeckermy household appreciates your content Dan! Your reviews have helped me make sure I'm getting quality gear that lasts me a long time because I can't just go out and try everything myself. Keep up the good work man!
Connor, you know that the more comments a youtuber gets, the more money and promotion time they get. Thanks for helping to promote Dan, a lot of us enjoy his videos no matter what product he's talking about.

Clamshell opening is a must for any travel backpack. Looking forward to the safari footage and hearing about your clean water efforts.
Can't wait to share it! It was truly life changing to say the least!

Good looking backpack and sleeping quarters. That sure is hell ain't camping. Relatively.
Thanks Emmet for your hard work.
Kenya looks so beautiful! great video editing! keep at it!

Where do you put the hip belt when not using it?

Consider CHARITY WATER. A super nonprofit to bring affordable clean water to the world.
The light liner is a must! I'm done buying bags with dark interiors.

DBTV Cribs! Lol 😆 thanks for sharing I need a new backpack. I'll check 'em out.
Informative, funny, and uplifting. Love the ministry work, can't wait to hear more.
Pretty cool pack and place for a video project. Stay safe!

Awesome safari montage Emmit!
Keep making great content my guy.
Hey Dan!! Lucky dog! I’m lucky too! Found 3 Ozark trail 9” spoons on eBay for 4 bucks. Apparently you can’t find them at Wal mart anymore.
😮
Does it rain a lot over there to collect rain to drink?
Did you get any tea while there?
Holy cow, this might replace my backpack and carry on case that I go on work trips with. I am definitely intrigued but also in debt…. Poo 😂
Nice Job Emmit!!!
Kudos to Emit for the safari montage!

Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 vs Outdoor Vitals Kota UL. Let the battle begin! 🤺
I'll do anything if it's for Emmett 🥰

I’ve used mine internationally without a problem. It fits fine in the overhead.
I hate hidden pockets for obvious reasons
$250 for a glorified travel pack? Not in this economy, no sir.
Hey Dan Becker! Have a good day
Hey! You too!
Hey dan , you have to visit morocco bro ❤️❤️
Don’t forget your 3 pillows

Can we finally say that you are a now an employee of Outdoor Vitals? You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a video where you shill their product.
