- I played Scott Joplin's Pine Apple Rag on a 1915's piano. This is probably the sound that Scott Joplin heard when playing his ragtimes! Listen to how it was.

the piano absolutely makes this 100x better.
yeah without a piano it would suck, i agree
@@jacobjan 🤣🤣🤣
This song just wouldn't sound right on a concert grand.
Totally agree!
Yeah. Much easier to play with piano than without one.
Scott Joplin - one of the most under-appreciated composers of all time. Well-played, sir!
Agree! Scott Joplin is so much about rhythm, timing and tempo. It takes a highly skilled musician to dare, because timing is everything in this music.
This particular pianist is brilliant, solid as a rock, he nails every note perfectly and keeps up the good flow in a constant tempo, almost like a metronome. So much energy and so relaxing, all at the same time! I am deeply impressed!!
His legacy is very strange. He died young, and ragtime was mostly forgotten in the following decades, but then thanks to one album and a movie in the 1970s his music finally received the praise it deserved.
He is one of my faves!
Absolutely - have you heard Solace on the Fingerbreaker album?
@@leifvejby8023 das werde ich mir gleich anhören. Danke für den Tipp!
Thanks for playing the whole song instead of just a couple phrases.
Yes man this is beautiful.
Yes would be nice to have Vinheteiro perform a complete piece every now and then. Even if it's 1-2 times per year.
Would the term "bar" be more suited than "phrases"
It’s because Vinheteiro loves Rags.
Some people were complaining he didn't know to play full songs so he does just that to shut them up.
Scott Joplin: the father of saloon bar fights
Thats odd man kkk
Lol...that's was hilarious and true.
If you play it at 1.5x speed then I totally agree XD
It wasn’t ragtime played in the Wild West as that only came in at the end of the 19th century. Westerns most frequently include that anachronism, though, but it’s most likely it was parlor songs or campfire songs played instead.
Lol
I have so much respect for this guy who knows by heart some of the most complicated pieces of music ever written and I didn’t even hear one bum note. Fantastic.
There’s one at 1:55, so he’s human at least.
@@Tentin.Quarantino hahaha you're so mean tho
@@Tentin.Quarantino, I can barely hear the mess up.
I heard just one in the entire piece. And this is extraordinarily difficult
Cool song, and the piano really adds the vintage sound
Your profile pic just doesn't fit.
Sad but true

Yes. Without the piano there would be much less sound.
Brendan Swords lol
Beautiful, made me feel like I was in a bar in the 1900s.
he is playing a piano from the 1900s duh
1915, more specifically.
Me Too!
Scott Joplin had rather a sad life, and he died as a pauper. He worked as a pianist in brothels, and composed much of his music for sensuous dancing in the saloons. Many of his rags and waltzes were named after, or for, women who worked there. He soon caught syphilis, which caused him mental problems and an early death. He also wrote a couple of operettas, the first of which was lost, along with a number of other unpublished works, when he was evicted from his lodgings by an unpaid landlord.
It's fascinating that his music lives on to inspire plenty people who have no idea about why the music was written, and who often rattle through it at more than twice the intended speed.
Hey , I’m here at home listening and enjoying this Rag , and having a bourbon on the rocks!😊
Clever, you got someone else to do the staring for you
And that is Mozart😂😂😂
😂😂😂

This piano sounds like an old saloon, thanks for this Scott Joplin's masterpiece.
I wish I could travel back in time to her Mr. Joplin play. What a legendary musician
You can. He recorded player piano rolls.
This is very impressive. Complete piece played from memory.
keith montgomery you’d be surprised by how easy it is to memorize a piece, (at least to me it is). I might just have a good memory, but I can play almost every single piece that I’ve ever played perfectly.
@@lilpiccolo6519 - I'm envious. I never learned to play musical instruments, so any feat of mastery such as this looks miraculous to me.
keith montgomery it’s never to late to try my dude
KGB Agent Yeah, it’s never too late. I began like a year ago and my professional concert pianist teacher told me it’s like I played piano for like 5 years! I guess that i’m a fast learner.
once you learn a piece, you don't need the sheet music. It's called muscle memory. You don't even have to look down most of the time because your fingers remember, that's why he is able to stare at us in these videos.
Joplin has so many incredible songs. It's such a shame they aren't more popular.
He’s one of the most popular American pianists of all time, but for some reason, the African-American community doesn’t seem to be aware of him for the most part.
2 dislikes in less than a minute?
Yup they're the motzart in the background
Forget about them. Either way in just a few more minutes you would get more likes than dislikes.
No body is perfect.....
Focus on the positive:)
Who dares? WTF
Superb sound...and most superb playing! As a pianist myself, I adore watching you perform! You are truly blessed by God. Thanks for keeping timing CORRECT!
"Superb" fancy katherine over here lol
I’m glad he is bLESsEd bY GOd. He should’ve not practiced the piano for years then and really instead should of been praying.
Ian Kuzola chill
@@fuzzykoala6168 You’re missing the point. Even with practice, you have to have a base level aptitude for music, and able to have the resources to get lessons. Its not either/or, it’s both
@@ewanawanga all I was saying was not to take away from the pianist skill by saying it’s from god
Ah, the good ol' Joplin's ragtime... It just never, ever gets old, whatever anyone else might say.
Scott Joplin is one of the best pianists of all time. Love your playing!!
Thank you for playing this on the appropriate piano for us. The bounce, the lightness "one the toes," and the sound so well suited for a gathering of close friends brings us the atmosphere of the homes in which this music was such a freeing revelation. Thank you for understanding the complexity of the textures of history.
I wonder just how many song this man has memorized..lol
If you ever play a single song enough, like when practicing, it becomes muscle memory. Your hands just seem to know where to go.
@@JasonWise and then after a few years you completely forget most of it apart from the one phrase that you played literally a billion times
@@ragminka Unless you play through it every now and then. Concert pianists often keep their repetoire polished.
iamrag45 This is too accurate.
all of them
I love it when you play an entire piece. You're too good a pianist to only let us hear portions.
my kids love this and other ragtimes you have played on these vintage pianos. i keep it on in their playroom. you should see the smiles on their faces when i put it on. Your talent is beyond measure.
Wow I just finished learning pineapple rag after 5 years of not playing piano! What are the odds :)
Pine pineapple apple rag 🤣

Bobby Everette me too!!!!
That's amazing congrats!!
Sweet! I almost said you were so lucky to get to play Joplin, but I hate it when someone sees me do something I slaved to improve at and acts like I was just lucky to be able to do it! So instead, awesome work, and enjoy the fruits of it. Someday I hope to have the time, equipment, and remaining dexterity to at least learn one just for the fun of playing it. It’s pretty fun to watch someone else play it, too, though. I love Joplin’s music.
Beautifull and great song. It reminds me good times.
Are you from 1915?
No, but during my childhood I used to listen to ragtime with vinyl records.

I LOVE the sound of this piano so much. Reminds me of watching Westerns with my grandpa every Sunday
Love Scott Joplin music, always makes me feel like I'm in old western saloon .Wonderfully played. Beautiful performance ....
Good sir, please know there is no limit to the gratitude and respect I have for the talent and gift you've been blessed with. Thank you very much, sir! You are a gentleman and a scholar!
Love this! I feel like I’m watching a silent film with a western bar setting. Keep up the great work!
One of my favorite Scott Joplin tunes. Nothing like listening to an early 20th century composition on an early 20th century musical instrument. (I wish I could play the piano that good 😊).
Scott Joplin at last!!! I'm Russian and love his ragtime!!!
Okay, Mr. Russian.
When *HE* doesn't stare, then *Mozart* does... So, probably he learnt the art of *staring* from *Mozart* ? 😂😂😂
That explains it! He DOES stare like he's a painting! 😉
Akshay Gowrishankar if you can play it slow
Bacon Doggo you can play it fast
I wonder if he has some records of his playing on iTunes or Amazon? He’s just brilliant.
Truly my favorite piano song in history. I love playing this song it’s such a good one.
I’m currently really good at this piece been practicing for about 2 months, really glad you made a video on it 🤠
Pineapple Rag has always been one of my Scott Joplin favourites. Thank-you for the performance. 👍💖🎹
Excellent as usual! (Miss your icy stare!) The candles and their glow reflected on that glorious woodwork really add a lot to transport the viewers back in time. Thank you for this wonderful piece in its entirety! Loved listening and will undoubtedly be back for many more listeners to this!
Not only are the piano skills on point, the memorization is ah-mazing! Thanks! :D
I love ragtime music, especially by Scott Joplin. I can't help imagining I'm in an old saloon as I listen to this.
Very very nice. That instrument must have been a pleasure to play on. And yes, thank you for playing the whole tune. ❤️
Thanks for playing the whole piece.

"Not quite my tempo". No, this was great! thanks for posting it
Try playing it at 1.5x speed. Thank me later.
07 B Vaishnavi Pandey No thanks bro, no thanks :)
@@mrexe7944 1.25 seems about right (maybe a tad too fast, even), will try to figure out the respective tempo
Edit: so, it appears Joplin included the tempo of 100 on the sheet music (unlike later works). You probably already knew that, but I never did any research before past his inexact “rags hould not be played fast” (I paraphrased) quote. I need to count the tempos for 1x, 1.25x and 1.5x speeds for this video.
Well done Sir. That piece of music is well suited for that type of piano.
Do we call this HIP (historically informed performance)?
"legend has it that the picture in the back was him when he was young"
This pineapple rag is insanely.brilliant!! I also love the humor behind his other piano debut!
Que beleza! Obrigada. Saudaçöes de Portugal 🇵🇹
This is one of my favorite You Tube channels.
I always wanted to take Piano lessons and Organ lessons, but my parents would not let me.
I know this is going to sound strange but...Vinheteiro is actually a vampire, the portrait in the background is him as a child in the 1600's and he was obviously bitten as an adult. Since vampires don't sleep...but they also can't go out during the day he uses that time to practice the piano in the dark (hence why he doesn't actually need to look at his hands). He also uses his hypnotic stare to order people to subscribe to his channel. It's safe to say that all this plus the amount of antiques littered around...it's pretty conclusive evidence of him being some form of hellspawn.
That explains it all :)
WOW
*Vinheteiro is Mozart reincarnated!???*
Wtf?! That’s a …………….pretty solid theory actually.
You have a fantastic touch on the keys & that comes from the heart of the musician
Fabulous!! Wasn't Scott Joplin's music so joyful, thanks for the wonderful performance...
I love all your videos, and I love how much you love Scott Joplin. I'm always happy to see a notification from Vinheteiro.

The candle sconces on the piano are fantastic.
You + Piano + This song. Perfect combination.
Ragtime is amazing. Reminds me a lot of Super Mario music, which is also one of my passions.
Hopefully you’re already aware of the majestic Tom Brier and his astounding video game ragtime renditions. If not, look them up and marvel :) He did lots of Mario ones.
@@Thingfishy Thanks, man. I'll look for it.
@@Thingfishy My God, I was watching him playing Yoshi Island's theme with other musicians and amazed not only by his playing but by how they were kinda discovering how a great music was composed for a videogame, and then I found out he suffered an accident and is not able to play the piano. That immediately brought me down. I really hope he gets better soon.
Thiago Oliveira I really hope so, too, it’s been over two years since the accident. Watch as much of Tom as you can, though, and keep the joy of his genius thriving :)
That’s because Mario music is directly inspired by ragtime. If you play the Super Mario World song slowly, it’s just a normal ragtime song.
даже Моцарт на заднем плане завидует чудесному исполнению.
you're amazing!

Bravo! This is probably my favourite Scott Joplin ragtime piece and it sounds excellent on the old-time piano. Thank you for the upload and for playing the piece all the way through 👏👏👏
Huge greetings, from ❤lovely Poland 🎵🎹🎵👊😎🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 to All !...
THANK YOU for not rushing it.
I just have begun listening to these piano playing songs in the past week or so. Previously, I was only casually familiar with ragtime. Just today I recognized this song in a re-run of a 70's local TV channel's late-night comedy skit show. The skit had this as the background music played from a violin and flute (I think). It was shocking to recognize this song whereas before I would have been oblivious!
In the skit a landlord was showing a precarious person seeking a room for rent. At the final highest 5th floor level, the room was $2 per day. When he settled in the room, he turned around and the whole back wall was gone - they made a skit from a building that was being demolished (Big Chuck and Li'l John, Cleveand, OH, USA).
Great demonstration, BTW, and excellent playing.
Thank goodness he isnt staring at me in this video.
