This was very informative and interesting. I wish they would have spoken more on ways to prevent a massive amount of weight regain after stopping the medication and the cost.
Thank you for this. While I don't have lipedema, I speak to plenty of women who do and I can guide them to you and this presentation. It's great to know expectations and when to hope and when to accept what might and can happen. The lessening of pain alone can offer so much hope. Thank you again.
Too bad you didnt talk about how some insurances wont cover these meds since they are for weightloss and diabetes only! Many people suffering and cant afford $1500 a month out of pocket. 😔
Yes these medications are WAY TOO expensive in the US. The US has 5% of the worlds population but accounts 60% of international pharmacetical profits. I wish I could rebalance that equation and give US consumer a break. Just now Medicare can negotiate price on a few drugs and will be able to negotiate the price on more in the future . It is a start in the right direction against big Pharma greed.
@@faizahwd still playing around with that. So far it’s costs me like $150 for 8 months. I go about 3-4 weeks between shots of about 15 units. When I start to feel bloated like I’m retaining water again, I take another shot. Then I’ll lose about 4lbs. So I’m maintaining at about 123-127lbs right now. I was 115lbs in highschool and was always considered very thin. I’m 42yo now. Pretty happy with it. :)
@@tifacolahi! Have you experienced any improvement in leg size or pain? I am also around 127 lbs, on anti inflammatory diet and exercising regularly with no result in months, but I am also a bit scared of semiglutide side effects. Thanks for sharing!
@@penelopeorgaz8497 yes. Went from like 28” in the thighs and down to 21”. I had lipo to my lowers because they never really budged. I still have a cankle look though. I have fat in the foot and behind my Achilles tendon that makes them look thicker.

The cost is too high.
Hello! Dr. Pennings diagnosed me a few months ago. Thankful for his knowledge of lipedema.
Thank you for this excellent presentation. Have you seen a positive impact with the glp-1 drugs on lipedema women who are of normal weight?
I have heard a few reports of help . I have very little experience with these medications for normal weight women.

You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful.

I paid cash and plan to write it off during tax time.
I’m a success story for GLP1 being very effective for reduction of lipedema bulk on my body.
That is great. Keep up the good work.
Did you take the shots a couple of times until you lost the lipedema fat or will you need to take it lifelong?
