Thanks. That was pretty good and pretty simple. Thanks Isabelle. You did a great job of explaining what to do for people like me who are planting their first tree. You should do some videos of planting seeds for kids to learn how to do it. You do a very good job of explaining and kids love to see other kids doing neat things. It helps them to want to do it too. :)
Thanks IV Organic You give great information in your videos. I’m new to gardening and I just bought a pomegranate tree today. This video was very helpful and I lovvvvvve the recap. Writing to you from Sacramento Ca
Great information and tips. I loved that you used Espoma product. One thing I've never used is the B1 product. I will add it to some some small decorative trees I plan to plant Spring 2020. Wow, who is still watching. LOL Thank you.
Isabelle Rose did an awesome job filming and participating in this video! How often should leaves be sprayed for sun protection? Does IV organic wash off in rain?
Hello M Uziklvr, I just noticed your comment.... sorry for my delay... Thank you so much for the compliment! I'll share your comments with Isabelle in the morning... She'll be happy to be recognized! :) The plant only needs to be sprayed once (1x)... and washes off very slowly. You can reapply as early as 4 months... Sooner for new growth that is unprotected during heat waves (upper 90's to 100's). Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great week! :) Charles
Hi, I hope you're well. Thank you for making these videos. My pomegranate tree has only given one fruit at a time, maybe 2. The flowers drop off. How can I increase yield? I live in Venezuela and we have rain season. My french lemon tree is doing really well, you advised me on that several years ago, thanks :)
Awesome and informative vids!!!!! You have been my go-to O.G. aka Organic Gardner for all my help in planting and caring for my fruit trees and plants!!! My new Hobby!!! Question, I use the mulch method on my vege raised bed and mini orchard......lately, I have been finding termites here and there, even in my potted fruit trees either termites or ants. How do you get rid of them, I don't want them affecting my veges, or tree's. Please and thanks again. P.S. my hibiscus was infested by termites in one main root and it eventually died!!! Root rot was my first thing I noticed...gave time to dry and applied neem oil and the Ivory Organics to it but there was no hope!!! Sucks 😔 But I'm getting better at all this thanks to you and others!!!!! Thanks
Hello That_Guy89 x, Thank you so, so much for the compliment! :-) Termites and ants are not a problem to your healthy plants and trees-- I cannot say the same if they make it into your home! :-) If you research this further, you will learn that wood chips can in fact cure root rot disease by supporting more beneficial microorganisms that defeat root rot pathogens in the soil. Further, it is advisable to keep the mulch away from the trunks of any of your trees (up to a few inches to a few feet-- depending on tree size) to prevent the risk of stem rot. Sounds like you have the answer to your question-- neem oil Neem oil added to a 1-5 gallon container and applied as a soil drench is an organic and effective way of controlling ant and termite infestations for the short term. You may need to reapply every 3-6 weeks during spring-summer to keep the populations in check. However, if the issue is tolerable, I advise to keep them as they are part of the biology in your organic garden. Keep me posted on what you end up doing.... Charles :-)
I live in South Alabama, the Gulf Coast. I want to start a couple Satsuma trees from air layering branches off another huge satsuma tree of my late Uncles. Can I just plant that "air layered" root cutting directly into the ground, or does it need to be grafted onto some other root stock, as his is?
Are deer attracted to these pomegranate trees? I’m transplanting mine from a 3-4 gal pot to a larger container, about 10-12 gal containers. Using mostly compost. Do you have any other tips? I was going to espaliere these 2 trees. Love your videos, Thankyou! I’m in zone 9B.
What a great helper you have. Thank you for a great and informative video. Where can I buy the paint? Also, I have a Cherry tree that the trunk is a little bit cracked. Is it still safe to use the paint? Thank you again!
Pamagrante look so nice as a tree. The issue is that because you force it as a tree fruit product quantity and size are effected greatly. Also do not over feed, just once a year of osmocote plus. If you are in the Inland empire you dont need to pre soil just dig hole twice the size and plant.
Hello Hugo Gomez. Great suggestions, the pomegranate should be allowed to grow naturally as a multi trunk bush/ tree. For feeding, organic alternatives are superior to osmocote (which is a synthetic fertilizer). I'll go into this topic more in a future video lesson. I am happy to hear that you plant your trees without improving the soil... which in most cases will 50% added compost will result in a tree that sinks over the upcoming months as the compost disintegrates. I've revised future teaching to reflect the facts you stated above. Thank you for the feedback! Charles :-)
Does anyone have a list of products used in this video. It's hard to see and hard to take notes if you don't really know what he is talking about. try to learning as much as possible. I know this is a very good video.
I just got a wonderful pomegranate from HD. It is Sept and I'm also in So Cal, zone 10B. The weather has been hot and humid. Is it too late to put the fruit tree in ground? I was considering of growing it in a 25 gal pot, but reconsidering to put in ground. Thank you to anyone who responds
Hello whytedaises, Most experts will say that fruit trees do best when planted in-ground, with the exception of blueberries that perform best in containers. So, my vote it to plant your pomegranate in-ground. Also, it is not a bad time to plant as the days are getting shorter (even though we may get some more record hot days). And, pomegranates can tolerate heat better than most fruit trees! Keep me posted on your decision and pomegranate growing experience! Good luck!! Charles :-)
Today I looking at pomergranate at Home Depot I saw 2 different wonderful pomergranate. One is shrub and one is patio tree. Do you know what's the difference?
Thank you Charles for responding to the flowers fall off. My yard soil is nothing but clay so even though I mix the native soil with compost at the rate of 50/50, I am afraid that the roots will bound after it's outgrown the good soil. Is there anything I can do to improve the soil at the bottom of the hole?
Hello Zhengming Song, I wish that was my garden! :-) The owner of this home owns one of the largest lots in my community (with the best location & views too!) My garden has about 700 sq. feet of planting area supporting over 20+ fruit trees! Check this out: ua-cam.com/video/YH48mNDLhoc/v-deo.html Charles :-)
Since I do not understand the English language, mr. could describe why leaving the branch at the base of the pomegranate without cutting. Please position. Thanks!
Hello I’ve question & I appreciate if u reply to me. I live in Palmdale California, I’ve a pomegranate tree for years gives lots of juicy & red fruits, this year for some reason I’ve lots of them it’s good sizes but not getting red. What’s could be the reason. Also it’s get enough water too. I know people live in different areas which their ruby red. Tks
Adik Sarkissian Hello Adik! 🖐 Most pomegranates ripen starting September (early varieties) through November/ December (later varieties). So many factors effect the exact time they ripen from year to year: such as weather, such as when they started to bloom, fertilizing, etc, etc.... I hope this helps! Charles 🤩
Hello Jeremy Thompson, The value of the product is greatest at the time of installation and while the plant is young and forming a canopy to shade those lower branches and trunk. However, the product has value in coating pruned and damaged surfaces from wood boring insects, plus repelling rodents that may gnaw and girdle the tree at any stage of the tree's life. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your interest! :) Charles

Good work team IV Organic! Curious where I can purchase some IV organic paint? Great videos. Do u have a video on organic pest control ants scale aphids? I've had good results with dish soap.

Thank you for the constructive tips!!! :-) Check out our more recent plublicatoins.... Many of these issues got imporved upon in recent months. Thank you again!!! Charles
Hello Loc Phan, How old is your tree? This is a normal phenomenon to have no fruit the first year or two while the tree gets established. Also, be sure to feed your trees with an organic granular fertilizer 3x per year: Spring, Summer & Fall. Adding fertilizer right now, as it is in bloom can be a stress that further causes more flowers to fall. You can attempt a dilute organic fertilizer (that has a high middle number, phosphorus... of the 3 numbers on the fertilizer package). Also, most fruit trees produce way more flowers that it will support as fruit.... So there is a chance that you will still be enjoying fruit this year! :-) Keep me posted!! Charles :-)
Wrong! You DONT want to amend soil IN the hole. This encourages roots to wrap around the hole to stay in the amended soil rather than moving outside the hole. You want to amend the SURFACE of the hole and surrounding area instead.
I love that you brought your daughter in. Amen! May she learn to cherish life & tending to it!
Absolutely, love your assistant! She was very diligent in care and very professional in explanation! Thanks
