- Not all records are created equally. Our NFL Rankings Videos have pounded this point over and over, and we do so again. We will take a look at every win total within the 16-game schedule era and point out the best team... and the worst team, for each.
Shout out to @alexweinstock943 and @tylerturnage for being the inspiration behind this video!
Explanation of C-Score:
C-Score is a metric created by this channel to assign an overall value to a football team. It takes a team's:
-Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record
-Performance, including game control and play-by-play production
-Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents
and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included.
A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team.
A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team. Not all records are created equally.

I thought that crazy improbable 13-3 2001 Chicago Bears team might get consideration, but they had a very high point differential (+135) which must have given them a good C score
2001 Steelers were better imo.
Minnesota getting eliminated by the Cardinals in 2003 is all the more hilarious looking back at this (Packers fan here)
Wish we could get a list of every single C-score in history ranked (highest to lowest obviously).
Best 9 win team is the 2008 Eagles. 9-6-1 record with a +127 point differential. The made it to the conference championship.
You should do the top ten best and worst average c scores for the entire franchise history of each team.
This was a fun approach! Video suggestion: Most consistently mid- teams by C-score. Over a 3 year period what teams average C-score was closest to zero? Team most stuck in purgatory - neither great nor bad.
I have that planned out for a single season. Haven't thought about a longer run. Definitely could work.
I don't know how C-scores are determined, but my top most average 3-year span (16-game regular seasons only) would be the 2007-2009 Houston Texans.
Miami dolphins 2012-14. You can throw 2015 in there as caveat. We’re the most consistently mediocre team in sports
I want to see a spreadsheet or something of all the C-scores!
There definitely should have been an 11-win asterisk for the 1967 Los Angeles Rams who went 11-1-2, scoring 398 points while giving up only 196.
Need a list of the worst Indianapolis Colts teams. I don’t think they ever have a good team, they just seem to back into whatever record they get in a given year.
Each franchises's best team by C Score.
Mine for best/worst would be:

2015 Arizona Cardinals (13-3, 1-1 in playoffs)

1973 Houston Oilers (1-13)
1954 Washington Redskins (3-9), Super Bowl era - 2019 Washington Redskins (3-13)
If you included 17 games then the 2022 Vikings would take the worst spot without question
Best and worst team from each selection in the common draft era. So it has to be teams that had their pick before trading it away. So an example would be best: 1999 Browns who picked 1st in the 2000 draft, and worst would be the 2006 Raiders who picked 1st in the 2007 draft
The 1979 San Francisco 49ers were 2-14, but they had a top 10 offense and lost plenty of games by one possession
Thanks for the shout out. Lots of memorable flawed teams on the list. 15-1 2004 Steelers (rookie Roethlisberger), 11-5 2012 Colts (rookie Andrew Luck), 4-12 2003 Cardinals (beat MN in wk17 to keep them out of the playoffs).
I think its a little funny that Mr. 7-9 Jeff Fischer didn't get the highest or lowest C-Score
The 15-1 84 49ers were a great team too.
Thanks for the shoutout! Video turned out better than I expected!
Video idea: worst teams to make it to the AFC/NFC championship games. 1995 Colts and 1996 Jags come to mind.
@@FourBudgies87 yeah i agree
@@FourBudgies87 84 steelers?
AFC - 1996 Jaguars; NFC - 1979 Buccaneers
@@BrockBoone Although they were only 9-7, there stats really weren't that bad.
@@rtchidc For NFC I might go with 2004 Falcons. Only +3 in point differential. They lost 56-10 and 27-0 to teams that had losing records. None of their stats were that good except rushing offense. Outgained in yardage by opponents.
As a Colts fan, I probably should’ve looked away…
Still great content as always, though!
I like the hardcore facts and the rationale for your rankings. Keep working hard, you provide great stats for football junkies/coaches/fans, etc.
Many thanks!
Love seeing some of the Packers teams on here!
That 92 Colts team for what it’s worth at least beat 2 playoff teams in the Bills/Dolphins
C-Score doesn't lie.
best 8-8 team is 1989 bengals and 2019 cowboys
Good call on the Bengals, they were within a point of the Jags. Cowboys were a contender too.
@@cccproductions2019 the 8-8 bengals in 1989 they weren’t mediocre they were really great they blown out teams and should’ve made the playoffs
What was the C-Score of the 2011 Packers?
27.986. Had they made a run in the playoffs that coulda skyrocketed.
@@cccproductions2019 I reckon that's also what happened to the 2015 Carolina Panthers and why were nowhere close to the worst 15-1 rankings. As I believe the Panthers had one of the easiest schedules ever for a Super Bowl team, at least during that 2002-2019 stretch. Only 4 playoff teams with each of them only winning 10 and 9 games respectively, and the 13-3 Cardinals squad that was starting to trip all over themselves down the stretch.
Cardinals - so good at being so bad
Does this only go back through the Super Bowl era? Otherwise the 62 Packers surely are the best 13-win team ever. (apologies if you said that in the intro and I missed it.
At the start of the video, he mentioned only the seasons of the Super Bowl era with 16 games: from 1978 to 2020.
Your voice okay bud?
I think, yes? lol
For 12-4, it should be the 2022-23 Vikings.
They played a 17 game schedule
They won 13 games, and he had them listed in the video with the asterisk.
