This song takes me back to childhood, fishing on the Long Beach pier. I caught a giant Starfish, it bit the line and set its self free. I was about 3 yrs. old, but the music... fixed the memory .a long way from a cold Minnesota morning, HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Great version. Keep playing. I try to play only by ear, but I dont spend much time in it because of other things in life, but I do love pretty music and can appreciate the talent and effort to play so. Love it .
I beer and this song together just makes me groove right along. THIS is what jazz is all about; improv to its simplistic yet intrinsic to its prime. Simplex mix drinks for everyone says this guys blow.
Gracias Sr Stone. Soy su fan número 1!
Hi Matthew! I cannot add anything to that which the others have already said. This tune has given some sunshine to a grey and snowy day here in Germany. Thank you again!
Really enjoyed listening to your sounds over the last year Matt keep the good work, Thank you for posting them on You Tube. Very Happy and prosperous New Year!! Jazzman427
Thanks Matthew for another great Getz tune. The low register on tenor does sound so smooth and sexy :-) Wish my Tone Edge 6* sounded as good as yours he, he. I look forward to the next offering.
You could put this on CD. My friend and I do busking every week on the streets of Birmingham, UK and the sound you produce is what we try to emulate for our CD coming soon. Thanks for 18 months of music, the time we discovered you on youtube and the time we started playing saxophone.
What's up Matthew... I've been taking lessons and playing a cannonball tenor saxophone for a year now and you are an inspiration. You've been told before and I want to say it, you have a great style, sound and are very smooth and I enjoy listening to you playing and I can't wait for me to get as close as you play. Any tips I'm sure all of us listeners would appreciate especially me.
Another nice one, Matt! Your tone, reminds me a lot of Hayden Chisholm. He also really understands texture. Take a listen either here on UA-cam or at Plushmusic. Keep up the great work.
@JosephMSmithMusic You can find very good deals on used old Buescher Aristocrat Series II and III on Ebay and they are phenomenal saxophones for about $600-$700. You have to buy $3500 sax to get close - not match their beautiful tone. When I got my first one I was smiling the whole day.
Hi Matthew ... I really like your style of playing. I am a tenor saxophonist too and I am actually wondering what type of setup you are currently using to make your recordings. Do you use a specific recording software to have a perfect quality recording both at the level of the backing track and your solo??? Many thanks in advance for your reply ... Alessandro
Michael Collins I have not played the Sax for around 9 years. I’m pretty certain it was the Tenor Sax I bought ex demo made by Gear4Music, I sold it and got an Alto, the tone I get from that is lovely. My main instrument is guitar, not recording at the moment, but play at home. I used to play the Sax on my day off in the week, but now see my Dad who is 89 bless him and cook. I’m sure there will be another time I can get back into it. I’d love to get another Tenor one day, next time I’ll invest in a half decent Tenor Sax, probably a Yamaha, they are a good bet, but I’m way out of touch with Sax’s.
Denis Ahmet i would rly recommend a yamaha sax. they’ve got a great tone and you can find a good one for a pretty reasonable prise. i’ve been playing mine for around one and a half years and i love it
@crazydaisytoo i have a question for you. I own a really rubbish alto, and much prefer playing tenor. Would you recommend saving for ages to buy a good tenor or trading my alto in and getting an ok-ish tenor for it?
I like your approach , lots of breath goes a long way aka S-Gets. I can hear your breath counting and that adds a nice pulse. I have the Aerbersold backing but this one is way better. I have been messing about with just this number on my C Tenor but think the Bb works better.
I whoud love to have a play on one of these fancy mikes and soft where to see how good or bad I was I now that some of these guys do not sound so good live but there still better than I will ever be
My son, Lawrence diagnosed with autism, loves your music and aspire to play like you. Born with severe disability in communication and fear of music, Lawrence was discovered to have savant-like musical talent last year when he was 19 years old. He fought through his sound sensitivity and plays by ear, but can't find background music for his saxophone solos. If possible, can you share with us how to get the karaoke music for the saxophone? He can further learn to improvise and improve. Thanks.
We would be honoured to shake your hand on the streets of brum. Let us know when you are planning to visit so we can give you the location we'll be at. We move about plus we venture to other towns/cities.
my dad always played this. I miss him so much, you brought back great thoughts thanks you are amazing

Standing ovation. Super espectacular. Saludos desde Argentina.
Great version. Keep playing. I try to play only by ear, but I dont spend much time in it because of other things in life, but I do love pretty music and can appreciate the talent and effort to play so. Love it .
Thank you so much. The sax portions are literally my absolute favorite part of this entire song. So to have the whole song be sax is a dream! So good.
I beer and this song together just makes me groove right along. THIS is what jazz is all about; improv to its simplistic yet intrinsic to its prime.

I can listen to this version everyday. Fantastic stuff!
Your playing is so smooth! I'm diggin the tone quality as well. Thanks for your version, I've listened to it about a dozen times already

I love the way you play!!!!!!!!!! If you haven't already, you need to make a CD. You are awesome!
Nice solowing, not easy on this piece with the changes in the middle eight. Great feel and being able to play so softly with ease. Well done!

Amazing Job!!!!! 👌🏼
quite different in terms of speed and style and everything from ur last recording...To be honest i love both of them :P great job XD
It sounds great
it's good! Your sound is really good, and improvisation is quite nice;) ty!
Your low register is nice and breathy ala Stan Getz. He played on a 1.5 reed...man it was like paper. You have a nice tone in the upper register.
Great job. i love how you sound so much like getz.
Maravilhoso. Parabéns!
so smooth...!
Love it..!! =)

What a fantastic sound. Can you please tell me how you play so softly.
I'm a beginner and learned it on a higher octave but it sounds so much better with this one,I think I'll switch
This sounds real nice..would you share your ligature and mouthpiece combo Matthew as we would like to try to do similar? thanks
im a beginer on the tener sax at the age of 12 any way i started on the alto and moved to tener and you have inspired me to play my hardest
Sometimes your tone is almost exactly like Getz! Beautiful playing!!
Hi Matthew,
Nice improvement! I like this version better.
Don.
Bravo!
Nice Craze! Very smooth. Love that song, thats why I stopped by. Glad I did. Can you tell me what's your mpc? And reed? Thanks!
@alirzb Thanks so much John.

This soooo sweet and classy!
Please tell me, how long have you played the saxophone?
Where did you got the backing track?
You play good by the way:)
Can I use 30 seconds of this for the background of a video I'm making?... Sounds great!
(Non-monetised video by the way)
Lovely tone. I've just started playing, any tips on getting the lower register from F down to sound soft like you have in this peice. Cheers
r u still playing?

hey man, I have a soprano saxophone, but I don´t enjoy so well my mouthpiece, I just want to know what mouthpiece do you use.

Hi ! Would you indicate me what kind of mike you use ? Is it a microphone for studio use only ? Thank You a lot.
Christian Doutreligne it’s a rhode nt2-a, a mid range home/studio mic
Keep it up!
explendido!!
You`re doing great, Matt! Lovely, relaxed, soulful playing. When`s your cd out? :)
the horn looks like a yts62 yamaha mpc?
