Very cool. I would get that original tank welded up and rebuilt/replaced if possible, because that's 1/2 of the eye candy. I have a 1937 Canadian Coleman lantern I am working on. Train Conductors version Lantern, with the extra wide top hat reflector. Shiny nickle plated fuel tank, which cleaned right up. New packings and seals have been found. I managed to find 1 glass globe available for it. People might scoff and say" Aww, it's only 1.2hp", ,"They made alot of them", , "A new electric Minn Kota is alot more powerful". Even more reason to restore it. I wonder how many fish that little kicker motor brought back. That little motor could have saved someones life. If it could only tell it's story. I vote to save it, and it's unknown history.
I would love to see an update or two on this outboard motor though where on earth will you find a replacement tank for it I have no idea, I suspect you have more chance of finding rocking horse droppings!! ( happy to be proved wrong) As one or two of your other supporters have said it may be better to work on your existing one.
Fix it please,There is a place in Washington state that sells all kinds of parts for outboards and they buy out old dealers and bait shops for theyre parts. I cant remember theyre name its been to long since I called them. Please google it. Good luck!

Neat old outboard!! That tank can be brazed and the rust removed from inside then coated. Finding a replacement may be difficult.
