Last week with a spinner hoochie on an 12-inch leader behind a 4-inch Yakima dodger. I lost so many bows. Thought it might be the dodger or just I'm a bad fisherperson. BTW thanks for your sidewinder planner board tip. An olive pistol pete behind that was one of my best offerings last year.
These videos drive me nuts. My boat is not ready to put in the lake..... but the motors get hung on it next week (can't wait). Then I can get out fishing. I never thought of trolling with a wolly bugger. Good idea.
This seems to be primarily a rainbow lake. I wonder how this would compare to a lake with mostly browns. Especially seaforallen brown trout are a lot more previcerous than rainbows . Maybe a swimbait or spinner would work better
Last year orange and white wedding rings killed it... but this year seems like they're going after flies... especially darker flies. Anyone else seeing this?
No doubt trout like bugs. Sometimes nothing works like a fly, and a wooly bugger is a good one. I caught the nicest cutthroat of my life on that rig. To contrast I have caught so many trout on a Mac's wedding ring tipped with a crawler which is my favorite trout trolling lure especially in lakes. But I never used a dodger with it and it worked just fine.
I never would’ve thought to combine a flasher with a wooly bugger but you can’t argue with those results!
Been doing it for years. One of my most productive setup for trout
I really enjoy your comparison videos, and listening you to talk to us as you troll along. Keep fishing smarter.
Joes flies are your best friend lol wooly bugger and spinner with that stinger you need
Back in the 80’s we would cut the hook off a rooster tail then tie a leader about a foot and a half back to a fly super deadly
Beautiful lake! And what a great idea to pair up a fly with a dodger like that🎣
That's a beautiful lake, it reminds me of lakes in the Sierras my dad took me to. I'd sure like to know where it is.
I wonder if tying a wooly bugger as a tube fly would work. That way you troll any hook you want behind it. I might try that!
You got some nice mountain view on a lake
You also got a hit on the fly when you got the spinner bite lol
I wonder how well if it all a double hook worm harness like you would use for walleye would perform behind a flasher or Dodger for trout
Look into tube flies, they have a trailing hook more like a spinner

I wonder if a woolly bugger would work for kokanee as well?

How fast were you trolling?
no idea

You could start a drinking game with this video and take a swig everytime he says wooly bugger.
😂😂🍻
LOL
Are you using treble hooks on the spinner?

Did you find a solution to them spitting the fly? Can you tie a super short trailer hook?
I found these 1/2 oz banana weights with bead chains and that really helps when flatlining.
I am the worlds worst fisherman. Nothing works for me.
Make sure your hooks are sharp on the fly
It was brand new and sharp
Try just the fly or spinner
Let's go fly 🪰 great show off. I've had luck in the past matching the hatch
