    Great video, I grew up on the west side of the state on the Olympic Peninsula and had the fortunate chance of fishing all the productive lakes & rivers surrounding PA , caught my largest trout still to date in the upper Elwha (Glines canyon) 7.5 lb
    rainbow 1979 ….Have you ever thought of doing a show on Lake Crescent even though it’s a catch & release fishery, that would be a fun one to watch…..keep up the great work!!!!!

    I used to fish those lakes back in the 80's early 90's when visiting wife's parents. Caught them on a fly rod using red butted skunk steelhead flies. Also trolled an Andy Reeker spoon with single barbless siwash hook from a small pram with oars. Quit that because I was hooking too many fish up through their eye, wasn't good for the fish. Felt a small treble would actually do the fish less harm but the regulations said single barbless. Awesome fish.

    • @BourbonForageFishing
      @BourbonForageFishing 2 місяці тому +1

      You can use barless treble now. And I agree they are less harmful to the fish generally.

    Awesome Fishery beautiful scenery. Lahonton are one of the last fish I need to finish my cutthroat quest of catching all the subspecies. This terminal lake is what these Cutthroats love that can handle higher salinity content. Where does Colville tribe get their eggs and Fry from do they have their own Hatchery

      @spiltmilt I saw your FB post about the possibility of living in Sonora Ca. I live 30 minutes away in Oakdale. Yes, we have the 3 Kokanee lakes you mentioned. New Melones, Pardee, and Pedro plus numerous other lakes. If there's anything I can do for you, answer any questions about the area, let me know. I'd be happy to help. Have a good one! 🎣

    Are you using a braid to fluorocarbon line setup? That lake looks like it's perfect for bank fishing. Also what do the cutthroat eat in that lake?

    • @spiltmilt

      Yes braid to fluoro. They mostly eat each other.

    $80 to be on tribal land. #80 for a tribal fishing license. $80 to launch a boat from only 3 different boat launches. That's why you have the place to yourself. I did the trifecta last year and it is true, incredible fishery. But, I did not repeat because it's just too expensive for this retiree.

    I think the tribe needs to plant Tui chub in the lake from which the Lahontons came (Pyramid). I bet the trout would explode in size with another food source and they are native to Pyramid and can live in the alkaline water, Sacramento perch living in Pyramid are not native but could also survive and become another food source. Just a thought because the Pyramid Trout are much bigger and healthy looking not long and "somewhat" thin like Omak fish.

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  2 місяці тому +1

      I think they mostly just over stock the lake. If they stopped doing that they would get a lot bigger. Due to its more northerly location its much colder as well and thereby less productive. Bringing Tui Chub here is a bad idea since they are highly invasive.
