Great video! I am getting ready to upgrade my WM Caprice PPV with a series 2 unit. I haven't decided using an HSV gauge set-up or aftermarket VE center gauge cluster.

I have been contemplating doing this transformation, also.
Kits vary from $250 to $1000 for a full “plug n play” with modified HVAC, and all dash and centre console trims supplied.

What actually needs to be done as I can’t find any info on this part.
Once I get the patch harness adaptor what is involved in the program.
I know the vin from the car it came from and have the security code for it.

Hi mate fantastic video I've almost finished my own after watching your video but I didn't see where you plugged the cable for your mic. I just have two grey wires coming from my patch harness I assume they are supposed to be wired to my mic but can't locate the area to wire them too.

Thanks. I have the exactly the same model but my head unit blacked out (emitting sort of grey light) but audio works just fine. all buttons functions properly ...obviously I can not use the reverse camera. Any suggestions, please?
I'm also doing this conversion into a series one I have a factory Bluetooth microphone up in the dome light I was wondering if you had any information on how to get that Mic looked up to Series 2 conversion. Having a hard time trying to figure out where the wiring diagram is online.
Do u know if there is a install kit that will work for a 2012 caprice ppv 6.0 v8 and are commodores able to interchange with the 12 caprice or any help finding parts would be appreciated

do you put in the aux cord ports in the centre console like can you, because theres no aux cord on the headunit

Yes you can same procedure too.

Great videos mate! Just a quick one....can I put an aftermarket head unit into the original fascia and keep the air con?
Can only use aftermarket fascia if you want your aircon to work. Otherwise it's impossible with the original one.

I have a 2008 VE SS of which had a Series 1 Console, I have upgraded this to a Series 2 IQ Command with Sat/ And have changed out all the Trims Etc...
Basically I think I was sold a shitty Conversion as I don't believe it was Programmed, all works apart from some stupid Non Alphabetical characters that appear on the Dash Screen, and I have also lost all HVAC and Climate Button Controls.. Nothing works any more. I really can't afford and don't want to spend too much more on it.. But wondered what your advice would be.. as On these hot days she just blows warm air and nothing climate works....
I also found that they didn't include the USB audio or 3.5mm connectors.. so cannot play any external Audio without going through bluetooth of which is a shit cause I have a crappy phone lol.. HELP...

Hey man; can you please send me a link as to where you got the head unit and fascia from please? Also what do I need for the dual zone control?
I got mine from the wreckers so no link sorry. For dual zone you will need the sunload sensor, drivers side blend door actuator and outside ambient air temperature sensor.

did you face any issue with upgrading single zone to dual zone climate?
No issues mate just need to get the HVAC module modified or get all the climate control sensors and actuators so it actually functions like a true dual zone would.

No you need your VIN programmed to the unit otherwise it will not work. If you want one to programmed let me me know I'll do it for you.

You have to get a whole new unit with sat nav. Pretty hard to get the sat nav board by itself to add to your original unit.

Unit needs to be programmed with your cars VIN number unless its a brand new unit.
Steering controls all functional following this conversion?
Everything works as normal.

Yes they came as a complete package with the headunit.

Joaquin Bradford not sure mate. You could always send the unit to me and I’ll do it, will only need the main unit not the facia. You can buy the patch harness off eBay.

can you update the maps for the sat Nav?
Yes you can. Maps are on an SD card so can buy updated map cards on eBay or from dealer
