If you don't already know

I made this video for those who don't already know that I have depression. Apologies for the length, it's twice as long as I meant it to be, possibly because I went on a tangent about Kate Miller-Heidke.
It hasn't had a major effect on me in a few years, but it still lingers around on occasion. I'm not ashamed of it, and I've been open to talking about it for a while, but it's obviously not something that comes up in conversation very often.
People have said that I'm strong because I'm not particularly emotional, and they often say this at a bad point in their own life, while they feel negatively about themselves and their emotions. But to me, these people handle emotion like it's a rock they have to pick up and move, and they can do it. But my reaction is to run away from the rock because I'm afraid that I'll drop it on myself and be stuck under it forever. Maybe a few times a month I'll feel a little depressed; I'll feel down and lonely for literally no reason and that I could/should cry. But I don't cry, because I don't have any real reason to cry, and because I'm terrified that if I start I won't stop.
Depression skews my thoughts, and the way that I've learnt to deal with it is to be honest with myself about why I'm thinking that way and to not let it define me. And I think there are a lot of people that deny their emotions. You don't have to be honest with others (though can help), but at least be open about your emotions and your problems with yourself. Things may still be hard, but it's easier to face and overcome your problems if you know what they are.
Don't let the rock become a boulder.
