Those little Squiers are more versatile than one might think...I, too, have one of these little gems(bought it new in late 1991), still looks and plays as good as it did the day I bought it. Only things that could make it better is if it had reverb, and if it was a tube amp. But hell, still great sounds.
Those handle bolts, 4 of them, help form part of the chassis support. Just took one apart to replace the input jack with Switchcraft. Sounds great for what it is, good job.
I didn't think it was sarcy at all. Removing the handle makes the highs crispier and the lows juicier. It also allows me to bias the transistors when the intake manifold overheats. It also makes you carry the amp under your arm which burns several calories. And not worrying about the handle gives me more time to practice my death metal soloing. It's a win win win...
Thanks for posting this. Also thanks for demonstrating the clean sound. I am looking at one of these for doing small open-mics and looking at a used one. Many years ago I had a Fender I think Sidekick 25R and it actually was quite nice for jazz guitar that I was studying at the time. Wife forced me to sell it when I needed a larger amp. I regret that highly.
John Deal these little amps really do have good sounds in there if you know how to coax them out if them. I put a speaker out jack in the one in the video; funny thing is, no matter what speaker is hooked up to it, it still sounds the same 🧐. They are so cheap, I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it...it’s a great amp to have around for sorting out ideas or playing while relaxing on the couch
Check out my video of this amp, using two Behringer effect pedals and a Schecter Omen 6 Extreme guitar. It REALLY wakes the amp up and the sound quality is surprisingly good. The recording isn't even very serious, it's just the audio from the camera mic, not a proper mic setup directly in front of the amp. If I did a proper recording, it would likely sound even better than in the video. =)
Good demo. Shows a lot about the versatile sound colors of the Squier Sidekick 15. I have one myself, it is really good for home practicing. Reviewers on Harmony Central are not really convinced about their quality. Maybe they expect the sound and power of a valve state Marshall stack for this money or something, I don't know.
Sounds very good. Bought 3 y ago for 5£ in car boot sale. I fought it's fun. Still very nice amp.Im personally like dirty channel also presence knob does good job when all way up. If have chance buy it cool home practice amplifier.
I took the handle off and put it on a extension cab I have that was missing its handle. The ext cab has a big speaker and needed a handle, where this amp weighs nothing and never leaves the house. It has a zip tie handle now!
It was my first amp back in 93'
I bought another one this year.
Love it.
I just got finished restoring one of these. It's a freaking awesome little box.
Hey I just got one any tips on static background noises?

good tube sound
I might give it a go , I'm just curious cos I am trying to the amp again cos my line 6 just won't produce the sound I want !

is a fender squier skx 15 ... without reverb ...??
I have one of that
i knew my amp is older then me by like 5 years at least
Wy take the handle off what does it achieve ?
So you can stack another amp on top of it.
That wasn't a saucy comment I'm just curious cos I don't know why
Sarcy I meant
a mio parere suona molto meglio di un fender 15....
