Dr Hanson graduated in 2009 with a first-class degree in Neurosciences and qualified as a medical doctor in 2012. Following her PhD on a subject of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity and Metabolism, she started working as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology. In 2021 she was awarded Topol Digital Fellowship, working on application of digital tools in obesity services. In 2022 she was selected for NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme.
Dr Hanson’s main research interests are in Type 2 Diabetes and obesity, medical education, digital health tools as well as mindfulness and its clinical application. She currently teaches at Warwick University and runs two clinical research studies assessing the clinical application of mindfulness among people with type 2 diabetes and heart failure. She leads on an innovative digital health project called Gro Health W8Buddy at a specialist weight management service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
