You guys are focused on the wrong thing. He is being attacked because he is lying about his condition. I'm not even confident he is being honest with himself. He has a kind of 'You can't take my car keys away' energy. That's not a political assessment - that's looking at the human reaction, the defensiveness over this - joe isn't normally so defensive, especially in public.
I like Joe. He has been a great president.
But The age question will dodge him till the end of the campaign. People are protecting him because they are scared of what happens if Trump wins - I get it. But democrats are better to this right-of-center anti-trump voter because I believe they have more honesty and integrity. We have to be honest about this. People know what they saw. He is saying he was exhausted from travel 8 days before the debate, and he had a cold. These sound like rationalizations to me.
I'd vote for Joe if he was actually dead. But we haven't had the convention yet. We got a chance to pick a successor , with a brief ( and cheap ) fight on the convention floor , and in a country where everyone is angry, a fresh face and a bit of a dark horse is a huge advantage. We might even luck out and get a reformer. This is a real catastrophe - but it's also a huge opportunity.
