Hey Mike what's up hope you guys are doing a good job keep up the good work I don't know Fremont California that's where I'm from. You guys have a good day stay
just a recommendation ... get a second set of filters, that way you can alternate them, that way you can wash out the one from the Split, and while it is drying out you can still use the Split ... as well as cutting down on the up and downing you have to do
The white pine branches making a ring around the tree are called "whorls". Many plants have whorled leaves around a stem. The pine adds a whorl each year so you can get an approximate age by counting the whorls. Of course the seedlings may grow a few years before the whorls become obvious. A note from your friendly neighborhood botanist who did her two graduate degrees at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My major professor for both was the late Dr. Albert E. Radford who was the principal author of "The Flora of the Carolinas".
I’m moving to NC the end of the year. I’ve always wanted to study botany. Coming across your comment just inspired me to check that school out. I won’t be too far from Chapel Hill
I was in Mongolia, where it gets extremely cold, and stayed in a yurt which was only heated by a wood fire...it was not warm like we Americans expect it to be inside...but the beds were covered in furs...and fur was worn by everyone... It was an amazing experience.
Lacey, you shouldn’t smack your plastic screens to clean them, in time they will break. Just use a soft soapy brush to scrub them, then rinse with water. Viola, it clean!
My son Paul Markel, Student of the Gun, is friends with the owner of Black Rifle Coffee Co. (Run by veterans) I got to tour the facility and sampled some on a trip to Salt Lake City and Oh my! Powerful stuff!
I'm in a shed to house and only have a kerosene heater...can't let it run when you sleep...plenty of mornings of waking up to 32 and 27 deg. in here. LOTS OF BLANKETS and a good dog help!
Congratulations on making 100K. Growth will come quicker from now on. We got about 1/2" of snow last night. We don't get much here in Southeast Tennessee. We have had a few more shows than usual the last few years. A couple of years or so ago, we got 8-10 inches. I'm disabled so I stay indoors. The rest of my family try to go out in it for a little while. It is beautiful but when it leaves, I'm as happy as when it comes.
OH GUYS !!! I absolutely broke up when Lacey said " Hold This Minnion " - What a fabulous video so interesting & great learning video for anyone Hiking overnight ( make sure you know how to extinguish a fire though )- we have had very bad Bushfires from people not knowing what they are doing. Cheers Denise - Australia
I’m like Lacey. Coffee in the morning and herbal teas at night. During the day, I’ll drink herbal teas also depending on my needs. Mint teas for colds or sinus issues. Camomile blends for stomach or calming. Turmeric teas for inflammation. Organic Natural honey for sweetness if needed.
also using a soft toothbrush would help too and don't forget to clean out the dryer's lint trap after each load and clean the screen with hot water dryer sheets make the screen gunky
We have heated our home with wood for nearly 28 years. (And it makes the house warm, but dusty.) When it gets extremely cold, like today (high of 28) we will use a vent-less propane to supplement. And I'm with Lacy, coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon and evening. Thanks for this video.
I indeed have a better suggestion to clean the filters to the mini split. If you have a local Dollar Tree or Walmart, purchase two of the $0.99 spray bottles, fill both with water. Put 8 drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid in one and leave the other plain. Take the filters and spray both with soapy water then rinse with plain water, pat dry with towels, then place them back into the system...easy peezy.😊
Love your videos. Your family is very special. I don’t think we could live in a yurt. My husband is 74 and I am 71. We just moved on to 2.7 acres in Missouri last week coldest move we ever made. But it been our dream to live out our lives in the country after living in small towns this is great. You all have given us many wonderful ideas for our land. May God keep you all safe in his arms and bless you all daily.
Everyone needs two sources for heat. You can’t beat wood in my opinion. I recently moved to a very small town and what I miss the most is my wood burning insert. Stay warm!
My recommendation on the cleaning of the filters is spray hose in the shower and dawn for deep cleaning. Oh and an old soft toothbrush. Or you can use a handheld vaccum to suck the dust off or regular vaccum with attachment. Personally i use my first one most. Even for the vaccum filter. Be careful with sap. You do not want to use it in fireplaces. The sap will stick thru out the chimney and build up thus fore possibly starting a fire in the house. Btw i am very allergic to pine and its sap. Spruce and juniper too
My wife said to tell you she vacuums our filters and it works fine. I also use my air hose and blow from the back and clean them off. We enjoy watching you guys. Nice to see families spending time together. Keep up the good work and God bless you all
We lived in Norther Wisconsin and had gas heat. We added a wood stove in the basement and tied it into our forced air system. When the wood burned out the forced air heater kicked out. We loved it. It saved a lot of money using the wood from our land.
I'm a tea drinker too Mike. I love those types of filters; they only need rinsing under warm water and then pat dry. You don't need to tap them off because all that dust and dirt flies back up in your face even when you do it outside. That would be awesome if it is chaka. I didn't know resin was a quick fire starter. It's so nice to get to see the rest of your homestead while you all are discovering new things.
I love the joyfulness in you two today...🙃🙂🙃😍😍😍 ( PS The jeep commercial beautifully expressed hope for our times, too.) Thank-you. [I know this is a practical, homesteading video, but may I ask for y’all’s prayers? So humbling.🤦♀️💆♀️]
Be aware that tapping the filter will eventually cause cracks in the plastic then breaking. I learned this from cleaning the filters in our air conditioners. I uses a small whisk broom gently on the back first then gently on the front. Hope this is helpful!
hi from Sweden, i am a coffee person.i like how real and true you are, never pretend to be anythiung else but youself, alot of ppl like beautiful Lacy wont be on cam unless ful makeup and clean around them which become acting not real life , Love your family and what you are about, God bless you all
I get a little grumpy if I don't have my morning coffee. But I like hot tea as a treat too. Now iced tea is my house wine. That carrot cake tea sounds so delicious! I gotta try that.
Thank U Lacey N Mike...We are Always learning New Stuff every time we watch Ur Videos...U guys R a Wonderful, Fun, Loving Couple...and Ur Family is Beautiful..!!! Much Love From The Jersey Girls...X
Lacey you look fabulous today! Mike handsome as usual. I lived in the far north end of Nevada for a few years. Negative Temps were common in our 9 month winters. We used a propane heater on one floor, a pellet stove on the top floor, and an HVAC system. I set the HVAC on 55 degrees, and ran the other stoves as primary. The HVAC did not kick in often but served its purpose well. I love coffee but can't drink it with my GERD. So I have been using a product called Pero in the morning and herbal teas at night. God bless and keep you all. Watching your lovely family brightens my day.
Lacey I'm with you I've gotta have my coffee in the morning but I do like hot sweet tea at night, your hair looks really pretty with that beanie that's cool your teaching the children about plants and such I reamber my mom teaching me stuff like that when I was little ❤️❤️🥰💐
I HV a suggestion if u want. Take ur vacuum n clean filters.. I use my shop vac on filters on my dryer n A/C.. drink wise ..I was never much on hot tea unless sick. I like ice black tea
Love the 🦮🐕🦺 and the kids good idea to keep w/ the sheep 🐑 and 🐐. Lacie, please teach more about the medicinal plants and what to do with them. Thank you both Be blessed
Lacie your a great teacher! Please do more foraging videos of edible plants and prepping stuff!! I love it and I learned about the white pine better from you than any other videos I’ve watched on wild edibles! Oh and don’t forget to do some more medicinal vids too! 😊👍🏻
Mike I also found this for pine resin What is resin from pine trees best used for Turpentine from certain pine trees has been used medicinally for treatment of cough, gonorrhea, and rheumatism. Tar water, resin steeped in water, used to be recommended by doctors for illnesses such as smallpox, ulcers and syphilis. Rosin was used for abscesses, boils, and cancer
I have to have coffee in the morning and tea during the day. When i had a cold by accident my cold got better when i drank Gingerbread tea for the holidays.
My fav cleaning product for dusty things is "Windex"! Just spray it on and almost immediately you can rinse it and all the dust os gone. So much easier than pounding it.
Farmhouse Teas are wonderful! Make sure you pick your own favorite here: bit.ly/FarmhouseTeas
Hey Mike what's up hope you guys are doing a good job keep up the good work I don't know Fremont California that's where I'm from. You guys have a good day stay
Chaga grows on white birch. Anything else may have high levels of unwanted chemicals.
^^^ Yarrow Willard
Neither..".hot chocolate!
HOLD THIS MINION! That's great. You go girl!
I use the vacuum with a brush attachment on the hole to clean out mini split filters. It works great, sucks everything right off.

Totally agree, the frame is thin plastic and will only take that a shirt while before breaking down
I dont have minisplits, but they're like the dust filters in my PC I use the compressor to blow out the dust
I'm with Lacy, coffee in a.m. tea in p.m. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT BLACK RIFLE COFFEE CO.? THE VERY BEST!
My son Paul Markel, Student of the Gun, is friends with the owner of Black Rifle Coffee Co. (Run by veterans) I got to tour the facility and sampled some on a trip to Salt Lake City and Oh my! Powerful stuff!
We LOVE Black Rifle Coffee!
@@southernmountain yes... They are a leftist company.
I never knew that the joy in my life would come back from watching you 2 clean your filters!
I'm in a shed to house and only have a kerosene heater...can't let it run when you sleep...plenty of mornings of waking up to 32 and 27 deg. in here. LOTS OF BLANKETS and a good dog help!

Love seeing the dogs. Who is the beautiful chocolate one? We can’t imagine life without our dogs!
Y’all! How amazing is it that Sayla even knew to look for chaga or resin?!?! What a great education she is getting!
Imagine keeping it clean makes it run more efficiently. Yeah Mike it’s all a work in progress... cracks me up.
Turmeric is great for everyone. Especially men it is very beneficial. For men's prostate. God bless
Coffee in the morning. My homegrown STEVIA
LEAVES AND CHOCOLATE MINT TEA.
Team Lacie FTW! Coffee for the AM and tea for the PM. ❤️💪👩🏻🌾
Those will crack cleaning them that way. Soap and water dry with a towel would keep them cleaner longer. Love your blogs.😃
She should just vacuum them.
also using a soft toothbrush would help too and don't forget to clean out the dryer's lint trap after each load and clean the screen with hot water dryer sheets make the screen gunky
I was thinking the same thing. I'd vacuum them.

We had snow in Travelers Rest Saturday night. That was our first snow for the year.
My husband is a big Tea drinker and I love Coffee! We will have to check out farmhouse teas, especially the birthday cake tea. 😋
I just thought about how our bodies have to filter all that stuff from the air too 😱 Fortunately, y’all spend lots of time in the fresh outdoors ☺️
Love your videos. Your family is very special.

A soft brush or vacuum attachment then hot soapy water to clean filters.
Lacy, Sara with Living Tradition did a blog on the stuff you are looking for in the woods. She seems to know a lot about Lictins that grow on trees.
We follow Kevin and Sarah too. They're great.
