Colin, this video is absolutely one of the best I've ever seen on ball separation. You've simplified and covered all the key elements of being a great ball handler. And, as you know, with great separation, your shooting average is going to go up because you are relaxed. I like to think of it as being able to shoot your practice shot in the game. Again, GREAT video.
+ShotMechanics woah. bruh ShotMechanics is straight stepping up their game. Everything from shooting secrets, drills, Ask Coach C and now this, just amazing. Huge props. Keep up the excellent work. #SplashArmy
I've heard that there's actually different handle styles before. basically, the person I heard it from online described it like this: kyrie has more like the typical American pop-culture handles: cross over very wide and fast before jerking it back. and steph has more of the European style of handles, almost nashesque; his isn't as wide, but relies more on change of timings more to get the defender off balance so he doesn't have to go at a ridiculous speed to beat them.
This is my 2nd comment on this video. I watched this in 2nd period, and in 3rd period, P.E., I was destroying EVERYONE, even some AAU kids. Owe it all to Coach C. 🏀
+ShotMechanics this was a great video. It broke down everything and now I understand why no one bites on my handle. It's motivated me to get outside and work on my crossover. Thanks again!
Thanks man, I'm a Shooting Guard moving to more of a combo guard/mostly PG role and after watching this video I went to the closest park and tried out the tips... got one of my first ever true Ankle Breakers today and easily got into the paint a number of times.
Dannng this has some great tips! I've worked 110% on my in and out and have crossed someone every game we've had for the past month. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 this video is great
what about ball security? i get the ankle breaking techniques but i sometimes lose the ball. what are some good tips on keeping the ball secure besides staying low?
and in real game situations that'll lead to better dribbling without me having to force to pound it? i always heard dribble hard to get a quick and tight handle but is that just limited to when you practice?
Wow I haven't used any of these yet, but I haven't heard most of these tips before. Thanks a lot Coach, this is probably the best video you've done in my opinion. Bookmarking this for later. Thanks Coach C.
This video was EXTREMELY helpful! Analyzing real NBA players' ankle breakers really helped show how these skills can be used in gameplay. This helped me get so many ankles. Thanks a lot guys.
Would like to see series showing options of what to do once you get into the paint, e.g. various passes, jump shots, lay ins, etc. Also would be nice to show what team mates can do to assist the driving guard to accomplish these things, e.g. placing themselves in passing lanes, moving towards the ball, clearing out the lane, etc
Im a 13 year old and my coach says i could be a point gaurd and shooting guard. This vid helped me a lot to keep me a starter. I used to be pretty bad at crossovers but i still had shots. But i couldnt get open shots if i didnt have crossovers. And now im pretty good at crossovers and i get a lot of separation. Thanks
Before watching this video, I was not that effective when trying to cross up or break my defenders ankles. After watching this video, I have had a lot of success using the 8 steps. Thanks so much!
I just attack their high foot drive fast and then step back. It makes them get off balance. Then I either pull up for a close floater or score on the other side of the rim.
guys its not about being able to break ankles, its about creating space and working as a team, at that point youd have to have good communication with your team..but this vid help a lot thnks!
+ShotMechanics can you show us how to do a proper step back jump shot, don't get much bounce on my regular shot, so when I attempt a step back, the shot is all outta whack.
This kid broke my ankles... I looked behind me and saw the guy behind me on my team on the ground too... he got us both... since then I've seen him break ankles every game I see him play... after I asked him how he's so good he linked me to this video, another tutorial video... and a video of Akashi Seijuro as his inspiration...
this one kid broke my ankles in p.e basketball. after a few days of training and watching this video I was ready for him. I dominated the kids ankles 4 times in one game !!!!! and some of his other team a few times. I thank u for this video
Hi Coach Collin, I was wondering if you could give me some tips for how to set myself apart from the masses of basketball players this winter. I am going to tryout for my first time on a basketball team. I am trying to make the JV basketball team at my high school and was wondering what coaches are looking for in players. Thank you for all that you do! Bridger
hey coach thanks for this video man . i broke the same guys ankles 2 times in one game . the first time he cheated the pick and the other time i did that attack the front foot thing and i dropped him . gret video man keep it going
you should show people how do you use your off arm to push off during crossovers to gain space. usually people just do the move from one hand to the other and the opposite hand just hangs there doing nothing. how do you successfully push off during dribble moves to create space? that would be a great video
Please, please, please!!!!!!! Hear me out Shotmechanics!!! Please make a video on how you should play pointguard, what you should practice, and common plays a pointguard should know, along with how to read the defense and where to attack depending on the type of defense played against you, PLEASE!!!!!

Kyrie is the best ball handler in the league!!! Let the debate begin
+qbTOXINdp I think everyone agrees with you
+Asap Terio I thought people would argue for Curry or CP3 but glad to know Kyrie is the favorite
Kyrie or Curry I could see either one being first
+Antonio Costa nah kyrie
Kyrie is one of the best but I would argue that Jamal Crawford is better than him .
Can't wait to try this out on Friday after school, thanks!!!
