For those wondering, this video was meant to be a quick-start guide to setup the Raspberry Pi 4. The new frame-less Mirror build video will be coming in a separate video with a list of parts. Finally an easy step by step guide for regular guys on how to install the magic mirror to the Pi, you just convinced me to make my own smart mirror. Thanks a lot, very helpful.
there are plenty of videos on how to make a mirror guys get over it. I have a mirror and making a 2ed one, this is exactly the video I need because I forgot how to install. Thanks a bunch bro nice vid great quality. when haters hate ya know ya doing something right.
Good video dude. Anyone who can't follow your vid and get it installed even with the new changes probably shouldn't be building one. Thanks for putting it together,
I knew all of this before, I was looking for on Smart Mirror setup and customizations, but I appreciate the time you took to record and edit this, it's very slick and easy to understand.
This is an outstanding video and great tutorial. I really appreciate it. Even though I am in awe of your ability, I do have some questions. 1) like the person commenting just before me I think, could you show us how you bring it all together to make it a mirror? Seems to me, you’ve set it up on a display or tv or computer monitor so the part about making it a mirror would be great. 2) I’m a gadget kinda guy and if I think of a smart mirror in a similar way to how I have my iPhone set up with widgets, what can be displayed is really infinite right? And at least initially, I’d do the boring stuff like weather, time, maybe it could have news headlines or sport scores or stock index movement/priced right? But now I’ve bored myself already. So do you have suggestions on what kinda A) fun applications to use it for as well as really helpful productivity stuff like a few I’d the ones I’ve already mentioned. (And others…..please:::😇). And how about automations like if you are standing in the mirror between 6 am and 7 am M-F. Shaving, can a routine of some sort be set up so that the hot water to the shower turns on if those requirements are met (I know I’m talking about IFTTT which may be way beyond the scope of this ( and my abilities lol) but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on these. And finally, two last points. LED lighting in the mirror frame, anti fogging for the mirror and how about voice integration? Ok. Are you exhausted yet? Anyway I’d love to get your thoughts on this stuff. Again, great job on the video.
Hi @Grensom! Looks as if they've updated the site & removed the single command line that was outlined in the instructions. Do you mind dropping the line here for those of us following along so we'll be set for success by the time your build video drops? Thanks for all of your help & efforts put into this, it's definitely appreciated!
thats a great idea for an easy smart mirror! stick the sheet over a tv and use a permenanet vesa mount on your drawers to stick it directly in the center optional to build a frame that surrounds the TV...smart mirrors dont have to be complicated to build, the demo purpose you have done is perect
Hi from Spain, congratulations for your smart mirror. You can turn the monitor off and on by saying OK GOOGLE, and the screen automatically shows the smart mirror module or the raspberry desktop? Thanks
How does the magic mirror display the things when just on the monitor (so without mirror part)? Is it just white text on a black background, or is it more complicated? I'm looking to do something similar, but not to show the forecast or news or something like that, but to place my own texts on it (and be able to change it whenever I want/need) But if the Magic mirror app does something fancy to the text (like borders or color gradients or something else that's not "standard and easy"), then I can't it I think
Hey Greg... I started the smart mirror project last year and got all the way to wiring it all up and hit a road block. The power supply profiles were too large to allow the mirror to sit flat against the wall... Could you possibly help out with links to the power supplies you use? As I recall in your last video, the links did not match what were in the video. Thanks!
What I would do is either get a right angle barrel connector for the power supply plug to be as flush as possible or if you are good with soldering you can wire in custom red and black wires to where the barrel connector is. There is usually solder pads you can use. I would measure the voltage first to make sure you are soldering to the right parts.
What was the black material you used on the last smart mirror video? I searched through those comments and you never mentioned what it was called or list where to buy it
Question, I'm going to be build a smart mirror soon but I'm trying to find out if I run two screens one smart mirror, can I make the other boot into a different program like osmc ?
I am relatively new to raspberry pie, as in have experimented with it a little, anyways, my raspberry pi 3 comes with Noobs installed on the microSD... I was wondering if this would be sufficient for the smart mirror, or would I have to remove the interface, and replace it with the raspbian you’ve downloaded?
How much RAM does the magic mirror software use? I’m gonna be running a very simple voice recognition system - think Alexa - and a smaller touch screen for it off the same pi
Do a video for MMM-Weatherdependentclothes please! For some reason I can't get it to work properly even though I've gotten all my other modules up and running. I can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong.
@@Grensom Thanks mate. Yes, I was more concern about the software process rather than the hardware elements. That's great! I am been watching your videos for the last couple of days, you are doing a great job, well done! I will start doing mine this weekend
Can you make your monitor in portrait vs landscape with this software? My monitor doesn't have portrait mode but was hoping the software could do something as it would look way better in portrait vs landscape. Thnx
Man how did you install the mirror ... that is really the interesting thing about the whole project. Unfortunately no mention of that ????
I don't have a video out for the current build at the moment, but here is my last Mirror Hardware Build: ua-cam.com/video/aa3VVZA0e5Y/v-deo.html
yeah no shit lol
Same here, come mostly for hardware side of the thing and nothing, nada.
You make it
He didn't bro. He just explained the easy stuff. Honestly am surprised there isn't more dislikes.

Grensom looking forward to the new frameless video. Awesome stuff!
U did great. Can i try it with raspberry pi 3? It will be works? Thank you if u reply my comment
Neneng Herlina Raisa yes the Raspberry Pi 3 will work the same way
@@Grensom now rasbian version is 2020-02-13 so what version do u used?

the best description ever . thank you for this video !!!!!
Glad to see you're back!
This is incredible, short video which is very informative! Well done
I'm glad you're still doing this
Thank the lord you did this lol, all the magic mirror tutorials I have watched do not include this extremely important setup lol thank you

The code at 4:05 doesn't exist on the page anymore, any other way to install it? I tried to copy your code, but that didn't work either..

At the beginning you connected the HDMI to the TV, but at 4:58 that didn’t look like the TV. Or am I mistaken?
Even though I study IT, I've never been really into technology that much but this looks so damn cool, awesome video man
THIS is how a good tutorial should look! Awesome thanks!
Should not*
The only important part was that mirror look
Oh damn that's a nice mirror you used
you miss the most important part the mirror :(
the build of mirror you can search on youtube - but this part was also important

Very well done!!
Thanks for explaining how to make the mirror, wood and glue, and how to use Spotify addon.

Is it a borderless TV? Shows how you mounted the mirror and such. I found it very beautiful looks like a TV without borders but you can not be sure.
Your display looks really good through what ever glass you used! What did you use and how is the quality if watching TV? Thanks for the video!
Hey yo Grensom, can you show us a tutorial about setup google assistant update version?

This is sooooo amazing thank you for sharing!!!!!
Nice!!! Does it work in the bathroom?? Or would the steam/vapor damage the raspberry Pi4?
Alejandro Sánchez yeah! I have the same question!
If you put everyghing in a casing with a appropiate IP rating, it works.
thanks Grensom, its a good video.
Could you please describe the monitor, which type of matrix etc?
Very helpful. Thank you. Does the magic mirror software interface with google calendar or iCal? I want to have a to do list and calendar on mine

Oh awesome, do you know in what language was make the magical mirror program?
Can you please tell me the total cost required to build smart mirror 4?

Using Siri instead of Alexa or Google A. ?
Do you think it’s possible to link an Apple Music module instead of Spotify?
As a professional user of the PI, I recommend using NOOBS since it has the recovery feature which you can fix your OS if you fuck something up

do you think there is a method to make the Serie A football standings appear on the screen?
