Im fairly new in my local HEMA & have been mostly practicing German techniques. For me, this drill is much more fluid and beautiful to watch. I seem to connect better with this style. Thank you for sharing.
I had a silly hang up executing the cuts that transition into ochs (idk the Italian term) but finally resolved it! This drill is fantastic for working on my sword handling and helped to expose issues in my footwork and various other things I needed to tighten up! Thank you as always for your amazing resources to the community!
Love your videos and you have helped me with my longsword work. Thank you so much for all your videos and technical work you put in. Massive fan of your work
I feel so stupid because after the thrust feint I cannot figure out how you are cutting upward at that angle xD like idk why my brain cannot follow the movements…. I’ve been attempting it for hours now and I feel like I’m wrong every time. I’m normally good at this type of thing and it looks so obvious and simple but for some reason I just don’t understand how to do this upward cut… 02:44 for reference
@@caravaneerkhed you have to go backward with your hands, by bending the arms, if you want to charge the cut. Probably you try to keep the arms extended and it can’t work.
@@FedericoMalagutti I understand what you mean but when I try it I look so ugly and stiff haha… I guess I’ll keep practicing until I can figure it out, I’ve been practicing the iron butterfly drill and this feel similar to the ascending cuts in that but for some reason I cannot get it to flow. But hey it’s exposing an issue I have so that’s good! Edit: I’m stupid haha that’s the problem!!!! I’m so distracted by the finishing point I had not realized that obviously I need to pull the sword back and up in order to connect with the upward angle, I kept trying to pull down, and then I don’t achieve the same motion when I enter the Ochs (or however it is in fiore)
@@caravaneerkhed another thing people tend to get wrong sometimes is that they grip the sword in a tight way with both hands all the time, instead, while landing certain most of the motions one of the hands needs to open up a little.
@@FedericoMalagutti I appreciate the advice! I think I was just so focused on getting into the ending position and the hand movements I wasn’t considering how the sword was arcing and that was my main issue. A very silly mistake but I think I solved it!
Wow this drill is very similar to katori shinto ryus tenshin shodan. Theres a video on tsukuhara bokuden's "ichimonji" that ends with a similar grab and thrust at the end.
Nice video,Federico. Hope everything works out for you . BTW, I got my sigi queen and the blade sings like a tuning fork whenever it hits something solid. I'm not sure whether this vibration is benign or not. What's your opinion on vibrating swords?
It probably just happened by chance that some part of the blade touches the cross from the inside, sometimes happens. It should not create you any problem. Anyway you can ask the guys at Sigi to be sure, they are cool people and they will answer for sure.
I used your four cuts videos as reference a lot. So this is incredible. Thanks dude~
You are welcome!
OK, no more excuses. It's time for me to start practicing this drill :-)

I find German longsword isn't very fluid for flow drills, but I find it a lot better/more intuitive for sparring.

Thanks for your kind words ^_^
Great to see this! It's a great form, I should do it again.
beautiful landscape
Very nice.
Thanks!
I miss that awesome mountains from this Summer. And we've had no sparring together. I hope to fix it in 2024, with you permission :)
Of course ;-)

La montagne est large pourquoi se trouve t’elle en travers de mon chemin ?
What about mezzanas?
You mean mezzani? The cuts? Well not everything is about everything! Hehe ^_^
