As a West Australian myself, our city is dying for a NRL team. Share the same ground as the Western Force. Check the numbers we show up for our teams and represent our clubs.
Ie. rather than the Bears I think Perth should go with Gold Coast’s old name the Chargers - Perth Chargers

If Brissy can have competitive NRL and AFL teams, both popular and well attended games, no reason why Perth can’t do same, similar populations...🏉🤷‍♂️👍

As a South Australian, I totally agree. Perth should be the only team considered for the 18th and it should be a stand alone team, not a JV with the Bears. As for a team in Adelaide - highly unlikely with the East Coast centric mentality of the "National" Rugby League administration. The AFL with have a team up and running in Tasmania before Adelaide gets a RL team.

I'd love to see the Rams back, but I doubt it. The current administration are too scared to expand west of NSW. IMO team 17 should have been Perth and team 18 the Rams - there's your 18 team National comp.

They are only making it a joint Sydney/Perth team so they don’t have to travel to Perth every second week and sell that idea to certain teams. You wait and see what teams magically get the Sydney games and what teams get the Perth games.

I'm from Russia and i love NRL. I'm full with you about Perth. N1 Perth, N2 NZ. Papua New Guinea is an extremely dangerous, corrupt and poor place. The maximum for PNG is a club in the regional championship (NSW Intrust).

They need to hold off on PNG and do more planning. Perth should be a given. Sponsorship, Venues, Players would not be a problem with the Perth Bears.

If the nrl wants to expand, they need to go to Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin or Wellington. They can’t keep putting teams in Queensland or New South Wales. The dolphins are good but there isn’t a single new fan because of them.

The Bears would rather not have to go elsewhere just as much as Perth would rather start a fresh identity, but there's so much risk in launching a new brand. The Dolphins have proved how promoting an existing club with a lot of history and a pre-existing supporter base can de-risk the entire process.

There is always that risk. So that is why the Bears would be a much safer option as they have deep pockets through their leagues club revenue.

I love both Union and League. The South Africans get boners for contested scrums and set piece plays. They don’t like all the running and tackling in League. Flinging the ball around I think is too much for them. I mean that in no disrespect. They’re the best Rugby team in the world. The way they love Union is polar opposite of Rugby League.

  • @aetfggdgdfgret

The NRL has to stop behaving like they are an amateur league. You cannot have Perth team playing in Sydney and even more you cannot have PNG team based in Cairns. Western Australia has their own bid that is associated to them, West Coast Pirates. PNG still don't have players who can compete at the NRL level. But if NRL wants to have PNG team, they can help them to develop their game. I'm in for a PNG team, but they need to be based in PNG. And since no Australian would want to relocate there, they need to have their own players that can compete at the NRL level. NRL also made huge mistake with the Dolphins for creating a team without geographical name. Who are they representing? Dolphins in the ocean??? And the proof for that is more and more empty seats at Suncorp for their home games.

Why can't you have a Perth team play a couple of games in Sydney? The Dolphins play a home game in Perth, Eels play in Darwin, teams are happy to forego home games for a couple of country games every season. Not to mention Magic round and Vegas.

They were around for a few years 30 years during the Super League War.
The local Perth landscape has changed, as has the way fans consume media. Nearly every team now had a membership option which is just the hat, lanyard and kayo membership, or an interstate membership eg Souths supporters who live in SE QLD and attend the games vs the Broncos, Dolphins and Titans.

63,000 fans at each state of origin in Perth and 50,000 at last years double header. Got the dolphins and roosters coming in August at HBF Park (home of the Western Force) and most likely going to stack the roof. Yeah, I think it’s come a long way since the 90’s during the super league war
