Happy hatch day
This is a nice Idea, And for the record, i live in Morocco (North-west of Africa) And there's a actually a way to recognize the fertilized egg by wrapping your fist around and direct it toward the sun, So the sunshine goes through the egg and then to your eye and you'll see a little something there, use an unfertilized egg to see the difference, This method is not new, it's really old and people are using it for a very long time...
Mohamad-Ali Molki this is true and this method is actually full proof if you know what your looking at, thanks mohamad I remember my grandparents doing this as a child.
yup the world does this
It's called candling (candle-ing) you can also use flashlights and such.
Thats called candling, many people use it now. But you can only see it when it is a few days old. There is this Indian trick for finding a fertile egg, you keep your eggs in a bowl of water and the ones that sink are fertile and the ones that float are infertile.
would u need a fan for it as well
+Christian Morales No, you shouldn't need a fan.
he is joking
you make me want to put down my xbox controller and live in the real world. great to see a youtuber doing all the old school cool things :)
@applepilgrim1 Depends on your incubator and how well it maintains heat. Use whatever wattage bulb will work. 60 watt bulb probably will work. But adjust this as needed!
I'll be using this for Pokemon go
does this really work. Because tomorrow i am going to buy this stuff to make the incubater.
Ariella Harris yes
I found a egg outside and it is not fertilizer if I put that egg in there would it hatch?
Totally Tessa Collector no
Totally Tessa Collector no because only fertile eggs can hatch :) :) ;!!!!
Ariella Harris hy
I have made a couple of home made incubators. You can also connect to light bulb / Lamp up to a dimmer switch. Then you can control the heat a bit better. I did hatch some. But to be honest you really need it to run through a thermostat. I used a fish tank heater and just took it apart. Because if the temperature goes more than one degrees above or below the recommended temperature the eggs will die. And always use more than one light bulb inside the incubator. Because then if one blows then the other one will keep the eggs alive for longer than if there was no heat at all. Great video. Thanks
@TheKiller641 its, ok to leave the box cracked open for a short period to get the temp back down. But not long, you will lose the humidity. Poke holes in it to get the temp and humidity right. I should do another vid of Moe, he hatched and is full grown now.
Okay so guys help there are some aboneded duck eggs in my yard been there for 2 days no mother duck yet its been under 60•f for a while and i dont know what to do with them and i dont have an incubater plz help
Boil and eat it if you have no plan to raise ducks.
you have ten days to get a cooler, light bulb and thermometer
what should I give them if they hatch ?.
maheesh mohan food
KylePlayzGamez hahaha lmao
First let it hatch. Then think of feeding it .
water and honey if don't have honey use a little bit of sugar
give them a hug
@TBL8oD yes, you reallly have to be able to see inside. You could use some kind of durable clear plastic rather than glass though. Plexiglas or lexan would work.
@quintinp02 Once you adjust it to the right temp it stays there. It takes some time and tinkering but it gets there.

guys don't put marker on the egg cause it will contaminate the egg
I use a Sharpie on mine. Doesn't seem to bother them.
It absorbs into the egg and colors it
Killervally that's not true at all, we do it all the time, and our chickens hatch no problem, and are perfectly fine.
The egg shell is too thick to be contaminated by the egg.
The shell keeps it out like it does for Everything else
@zem36 Yes, possibly, they will still be viable after up to about a week or so. But, when you say "cold" how cold do you mean? Not freezing weather is it?
@Keurosaur I am not sure, couple of different breeds one of which is Rhode Island red.
Or you could just buy a damn chicken and let her sit on them .......they kinda know what they're doing 😂
You, my friend, obviously don't have chickens xD
true lol
lmao you think you're so smart. It's not that easy, maybe have chickens and then start commenting.
D90Girl No not all chickens do, depends if they are broody or not
Mines like drop and run type of chicken
@Raindr0ps sorry for the delay, but you can use this for many types of birds but... each type of bird has specific temperature and humidity needs so you have to look that up.
@zem36 ok, good luck and let me know how it goes. after about a week you might want to candle the eggs to see if they are growing. keep me posted.
@almosteverythinghere I can't remember the rotating schedule. Its in the video however.
@xXxNyomixXx IT can most definitely be some kind of plastic. I used glass because it was easy, I used the glass from a picture frame.
Cant wait to try this! thanks for sharing!
@chirasen107 difficult to say. You have to get a thermometer and a humidity reading inside there. it is very important.
Good idea with the hardware cloth. I am going to have to cut some up and use it as a barrier from the lamp like you did. Thanks for the ideas. 3 eggs going strong in mine.
@jaddadajamiilah Good question. I took this out of a lamp. It is complete, cord, bulb and socket.
@rosered84 hmmm, maybe a second dish. Also you can wrap the inside with aluminum foil. This will seal it. Probaby not need the holes anymore which will increase the humidity. Try a smaller light bulb too, this will reduce the need for holes too.
Hey guys, I made my own incubator for the first time and it totally worked, I have 5 chickens now that I incubated myself, there would have been more but I screwed it up in the beginning of the process by leaving them alone with the temperature too high, but other than that it was a success. THANKS GOD!
@lulle103 This is a great point thanks. The egg shells are porous. I used a water based non-toxic crayola marker. I hope they are ok. I don't want my chicks to turn out blue :)
@TomAndJerry246 yes, just add water. Use a low watt bulb and keep it away from the sides.
@TheJoseboii Try a stronger bulb. but first check for leaks in your incubator. That is the most common problem.
@raphandlil I am not sure. But I am sure that a reptile egg will have different temperature and humidity requirement. You definitely have to look that up.
@OrcPainterNerd Nice! Pick something, anything at all, that you think you might want to try, and go for it!!
@HazzaripHD probably not, it will lose heat too fast. You mmight be able to wrap something around it? make it more insulating?
@epicfantasy oh ok tyvm im planning on putting the eggs on the opposite wall of the bulb!!! Thank you for helping me out!
@BriLicious514 Any hardware store. But, if you can't get any you should do the project without it! Don't let it stop you. The wire mesh isn't mandatory!
@ohpoopy23 ok, now I understand. That should be quite ok. The big thing is that it stays away from the eggs! keeping the inside a steady temperature.
@wilhelmpaoloquinto Yes, it is possible those eggs are ok for a week. As long as they come from a farm and not the store.
@HotKevin4 Any hardware store wil have it on rolls. Typically you can buy it in small sections. Lowes, Home Depot, Ace. It isnt mandatory for this project. You could do it all without the chicken wire and it would be ok.
i really like your incubator its a really easy project and your version is really simple and good :) like the video :D
All very simple )) Thank you!
different type of sponge, bigger sponge too. Also a larger dish. The humidity also needs more time to build up.
@Aresftfun great point! thanks :)
Brilliant work, thanks for the vidoe
this is a great incubator
@adolfo1514 Yes, you need to watch temperature and humidity very closely. I bought one at walmart. I think it was 8 dollars.
@ohpoopy23 I am not 100% sure what you mean. I put the bulb through the side of the cooler. Away from the chicken eggs.
@walidhighlvl I don't know. sorry. You have to look up the specifics for that species. The temperature/humidity and incubation time will all be different. That is for sure.
thank you so much for making a great video:) VERY HELPFUL!
@epicfantasy Thanks for the speedy reply. I added an extra dish of water and it didn't help much. I decided to remove the extra water, plug up the holes, and replaced the twenty five watt bulb with a fifteen watt bulb. So far, that has worked. :)
@jamesbnorman1 great question. Wonder what will happen now those bulbs are being phased out.
@multiredshark1 I am not sure, quite possible you could just ask around. Be surprised, lot of people raise a few chickens now. it has become very popular. Fresh eggs are so delicious.
LOL!when you showed us the stuff we needed.we aready had them.this may work and we just got finished.thanks
Thanks for the help
@irunforlive12 add another dish or a wider dish. More surface area of water helps. And if you had to poke holes you might try a smaller bulb and plug up the holes. this will help retain humidity.
You have some Awesome ideas
@bludeborne The one thing I can't do is Stop! - lots more vids coming :) I got some stuff that will knock your socks off! lol
@beastlychic1 it releases some heat, just be quick! and monitor afterwards. It will be ok. Good luck with the baby chicks!
@jeremiahweed94 this is an excellent point. You should never write on the eggs. The egg absorbs stuff through the shell. i did, but I used crayola non toxic, water markers. I think that was ok.
@jeppy8383 yes, but the temperature, length of time and humidity.
@HoangXinh I am not sure about the fan. It it probably an automatic thing. If you make your own incubator the fan will probably be too much. Test and see.
@Rocklover11kbb I am not sure. You should try and see. Might not be able to fit all the eggs.
@cheriere3 It can cause problems with the chicks shell,
@jamesbnorman1 -- They still make light bulbs for heat, like grow light. I think you will still be able to find some of the incandescent bulbs around in the future.
@reafernandez20 I really am not sure. The temp probalby has to be different. Gotta research it.
@nicknezoo12 Wow! 300 vids! so much work yet time flies :) Thanks for sticking with me!
Cool, thanks!!!
@breeziestar Good luck. Sounds like you are doing the right thing - lots of research!
@azmonkeyboy2 1 did, and grew up very nicely. I have some more vids showing the hatching. His name is Moe.
this is cool, ive gotta try this...curiosity has got me!!!
You are welcome, and grats! Keep at it.
@oneslowride I turn the eggs a minimum of 3 times a day.
Thank you for the advice I made one its cool
@epicfantasy I want to THANK YOU 10000000000 times for this! I did exactly what u said and this is the first time I hatched eggs ! The egg that I had hatched into the best duck Ever!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!!!!!
I like how u named the eggs! :D
@tapooka not sure, they probably need a different temperature.
these containers are pretty standard but its not too important. Can't remember the wattage. Check the link in the description of this vid. Lots more info on the website tutorial.
@septemberafternoon61 I forget how often to rotate the eggs. I think I say it in the video.
Nice job
Thks for sharing!
wonderful
@roryfuntime the eggs have to come from a farm. The thermometer I bought at walmart.
So cool.
@GuruGulu yes, that's right. it's in fahrenheit. good luck with your incubator.
@Tobuscusluva sorry, i don't know. The temperature would probably be different.
made the incubator and have my eggs they seem to be doing well, thanks for the video it really helped ill send you some pictures of the eggs which in a way you helped me do! :)
@efoneoutlaw I don't know. YOu have to reserch canary eggs to find otu what temperature they need. Then experiment with bulbs.
I did this in 2012 it worked wonderfully
cool incubator
@kgr1997 The heat isn't too bad. Just makes sure the bulb doesn't touch the cooler. Then it would melt.
That's cool
@123hassanain You can hold the egg up to a very bright light or flashlight and see inside. Get a look at whether a chick is developing.
My works too. Used Avasva handbooks and build it with no problems.
@BoomBeepBoomBeep bulbs are very durable if you simply leave them on. They almost never blow out. The big strain on them is the turning on and off. You should be good because this bulb stays on. I would do my best to try to get a spare bulb and keep it in reserve. the baby chicks are worth that effort :)
@zem36 hmmm,, I would skip them. And try another day. Clear out all the eggs the night before then the following morning see if you have any fresh ones. Would be a better bet.
Hello, thank you for making this video, I've made one myself thanks to this vid :) still got a few hickups with temp and humidity, but im slowly gettin there :D
too good!
@beastlychic1 Styrofoam will be much better because it will hold the heat. A bigger cooler probably means a bigger light bulb. A bigger dish of water or a second dish of water will help to maintain the humidity. I wouldn't do that big a batch though. As a first try I would go smmaller. It will be less difficult.
@mrmanpower22 The water is just regular temp tap water.
thanks, more plane vids coming. ANd, I am going to be making another RC plane, might be some kind of war plane, haven't decided yet.
