As an African American the thing that has pushed me towards afri beats is the fact that It’s acceptable for my grandmother, a child, or a priest! I appreciate that every other song isn’t about tearing someone down or murder.
Nigeria success in the entertainment industry is base on their talent hardwork and failed government. Their failed government made them industrious and take whatever they are doing very serious.
People don't understand that Nigeria has a music culture that dates back to 1950s . The artist today's are offshoots of that music culture. .. it is also a culture that loves to dance and make comedy to stay happy ..which is a must to them ..!!
not only 1950s, Lots of different tribes in the south has so many Nigerian music dating back to pre amalgamation. tribes like Igbo, efik, Ibibio, yoruba, Ijaw, even sounds from benin
The issue of population has been constantly debunked with the examples of Jamaica and China. Nigerians in diaspora promote Afrobeats simply because Afrobeats artists are making good music. If the argument is on diversity, then maybe there could be a point. Nigeria is one of the most diverse countries, if not the most diverse country in the world. A country with over 200 very different people, culturally, in language, mindset, religion and attitude. Nigerians naturally make music that will appeal to this vast diversity of people. If you’re able to successfully make music that appeals to most of these 200 different people, then you’ve cracked the code to making music that will have a continental wide appeal. Then tweaking it for a global appeal is only just an easy next step
Everything u ave listed is bang .. on spot... More blessings to u .. Nigeria music will continue growing bcus other Africans doesnt understand music is a craft, its not about just writing and singing... It covers networking, population, room for talents, infusing all other entertainment industry e.g movie, comedy etc lastly appreciate ur culture nd create a unique style nd try to focus ur effort on it... Am a Nigerian nd God bless 9ja. 4eva remain a Nigerian ✌️✌️✌️✌️
Mogaji, you are absolutely right in your submissions. Will only aggregate the population issue in percentage, ie 20% true and 80% false. Have u noticed how Jamaicans burn the tracks in athletics (sport) even tho they are less than 3m in population? Nigerians are just naturally talented yet talent is not enough, you have to show it, bring it out, spread it, improve on it by learning other things from other African countries above all, we know how to spread love with music. That is who we are. WE ARE AFROBEAT, WETHER OR NOT WITH (S)
Nigerians are doing their best but didn't even after taking over African music but the world 🌎 I think Nigeria music haters we put that on their local brain 🧠 we're after taking over the world music globally one love my Pam Africanism.

Why is it when Nigerians accomplish things all Africa wants to be included, but when they do bad things they want to single out Nigerians. No, Nigerian musicians s are taking NIGERIA to the world not all Africa. Dont ride on coattails when its convenient
You are so empirical in your approach to the noise and illusion about Nigeria and afrobeat. The issue of population nonetheless have minimal role in this discussion because there are countries with vast population that have no impact outside their comfort zones. Nigerians on the other hand, are adventurous ,resilient and adaptive. These attributes is why they excel in all facets of their endeavors as evident in the so called western world.
I have watched all… important points shared. So I am happy 😃 you partly agreed to the population point. You were very truthful there. Aside that, you gave out some solid points big man. I love you Bruv!!!
I observe that other African countries mentality is stuck in the 20th century regarding approaching music. Meaning they are far behind the times of music trends and form of business today. You have countries like Ghana and DRC constantly talking about their past glories and historic origins of African music but neither are relevant in today's contemporary music industry the way Nigeria is now. That energy should be focused on bringing their music industries and crafts up to date with more global tastes than talking about "roots" as a form of begging for recognition otherwise they will stay stagnant.
Good work I agree with you but remember complacency has its ends because God has time for everyone.Remember back then it was RNB,HIPPOP,REGGAE ....etc and even then we only know typically founders of that genre are only making it.But when the world start to revolutionaries things change artists from small countries became aware winners of Grammy likes of YOUSOU NDOUR,SALIFU KEITA,OUMOU SANGAR YOU MENTIONED,OSIBISA FROM GHANA,SEAN PAUL,SHAGGY,BURNA BOY,SADE,GADAM STYLE AND EAUROPEAN AND ASIA ARTISE my point is DONT sound like they are better or best than others. The favor can be in this decade falling on them but that different code that will elevate another artist from another country wil also show because trust me people love listening to current artists in Nigeria because the world is changing they are tired of Jollof they want Eba so when the time comes for them to switch to banku or fufu or pasta 🍝 it will come. But bro don’t sound and feel like degrading other countries which are your black because when their time is due and they talk about themselves you will say they don’t consider you all Africans. What you need to understand I always say is Afro beat is not Niger beat is African beat Burna boy made it to his first Grammy appearance through YOUSOU NDOU so bro that journey can’t be completed by Nigerians alone because music and voice as you see it is unique.
Talk about the movie industry, the music, comedy it has always been us, but the way some desperate Nigerian musicians are selling their souls and jumping on catalog is fascinating. Americans love to subdue which was how they convinced us to devalue our currency then to make it stronger now even if we don't want to we have to bcos we are like their puppet now. This same thing might happen in the music industry whereas they will tell u not to sing in a particular style. Even hip hop was from the West African slave that were moved to Jamaica which became regae then hip hop now

Songs not done 95 percent in African languages should not be counted as African, because are not authentic. Nigerian song sounds more Jamaican than African fact.
Then African Francophones should not be considered African. Plus they are singing in their local English. Which is the only way their people can communicate. They have about 1500 languages.
Everyone sing in mother tongue, but most of this countries dont respect their culture.mother tongue is not taught in school, which taking Africa backwards.most of this languages will disappear.
Okay I understand what you are trying to say. But Broken Pidgin has become their language. And it has helped them learn some of each others language. Because each Pidgin is different. They were created in the villages until it got to the cities. The common one they use in their songs are the one used in Lagos or Abuja. But it is their language the speak it more than English. In the 1970/1980 English was more popular than Pidgin. If you want to blame Nigeria for making Pidgin popular in West Africa then yes.
