@@dianaolivia9313 a faraday cage is any container that, of electricity is passed through it, the game might be affected but the person inside the cage would not be affected. A car acts like a Faraday Cage, your car might get damaged but as long as you are inside the car and you are not touching any metal that is outside the car, you should be fine
The airbags could go off, too. FYI. And if lightning does strike the car, it WILL go into either the defroster wires in the window or the antenna and BLOW up the computers. So you'll be stuck.
Despite the Faraday cage of your car, I would not take the gamble. Once i was sitting at home with a window open and a bal of lighting came in front of the window. I later heard the chances are high it makes its way inside.
No, shut the windows. Glass is still a way better conductor of electricity than air at lightning's voltages. If you get hit by ball lightning coming through the glass like it certainly could do well that's just absolutely rotten luck.
Concept of Faraday's cage.
Can you explain what does that mean ? And how they protect us in car ?

It happened to me in 2010 Corolla and my insurance called it a total loss.
My teacher told me it's just because of the tires... such a liar
A few miles of air just got made conductive, as such the rubber might as well be copper as far as the lightning bolt is concerned.
In German, lightning is a big electrical spark of what they call "Hochspannung" - or "high voltage."
Lighting just struck a few (40-50) feet from me. Im now inside and terrified for my life

If thats what you think lol. Windows are very much breakable. Unless you cant handle that.
At least you didn’t die
You are not safe from lightning on a motorcycle or bicycle either because they don’t have metal roofs.
Thanks
What about open windows when inside vehicle??

Is motorcycle with a roof safe during lightning?
No, it would be same as convertible car.
@@rodrozil6544 What if the convertible is a hardtop?
What if it hits the overhead glass sunroof?
You're still far safer but all windows must be closed.
I ll go peacefully my remaining 10 KM
