Best option: hold it in January/February, so I can stay home for Christmas, after enjoying Christmas, then head to Cape Town and enjoy the beach for a great start of the year!
I was there, and although I am not a foiler, Brodel absolutely crushed it. It was really surprising that he didn’t get a huge score. He went by far the highest, and had aggressive kite angles. Seemed as if the judges just didn’t favor him.
Option 4: Since every rider had at least 1 heat, everyone has a score, and they could make a rank with those scores. In this case Jamie would win. They often do the same in freestyle skiing competitions when the conditions do not allow a final.
@@kitegoofy The main problem with this is that some riders could argue that they took 2nd place on purpose to have a battle in round 2 and have an opponent thats easier to defeat. So it would be controversial for sure. I wouldn’t say this outcome is likely but it is a possibility for sure.
@@tothgele This is a problem only until someone asks you to give a specific example of such a rider. Let's look at the tournament table and try to give an example. Can we? )))
The on thing everyone is forgetting about "just running it in Jan" is that there is a massive stage, road closures, government permits, security, sanitation, etc. All of this stuff needs to be planned, organised and executed to have the event. They cant just all pitch up to the beach and go for a kite - there is a lot of work involved. I dont think this competition is big enough in terms of viewership to warrant red bull spending more cash on it. But hopefully im wrong. Whoever they use as a meteorologist should be fired though - they could just ask a local to check windguru and they would have a much better idea of when the wind will blow.
No I think you are pretty spot on! That’s exactly the reason why they won’t be able to run it longer unfortunately:( I think it is just bad bad luck to be honest :(
Why they dont just go on foil kites with foil boards? Its all about the most versatile rider so let them show off in light wind! They would still go massive.
As a Capetonian I dont recall conditions like this in my memory. September and October was fantastic I thought going to be the best year ever then November and phuttt and December is looking same nothing good

When you drop the glasses bro. Until then nope!

I would love that !!

That’s seems fishy to me 🥹
Option 5. There will be wind on Sunday after all! )))
Yes !! Very very luckily! But my video does not make a lot of sense anymore 😝

Uhhhh bring it on !!! Interesting … good question if they would actually do thatc

Main issue here is each heat is on a different scale. You could have 6 people in equal 1st place, but can't compare scores across heats.
Moreover the riders weren't at 100% for their first heat. We want to watch them going super big in the last rounds

Thanks a lot bru
I hope for option 3!
Maybe they run it Sunday !!:)
they’ll SURELY push day two, until feb when they used to hold it
U think they are allowed to do it with permits etc ?
run it in late Jan........why do ppl change things that are already working, any local knows that the wind is iffy this time of year?
Back in the days they said, that the wind will be more dense in November ! That’s why they change to that time of the year :)
Thanks for the content! Very interesting. Except i wouldn’t call it “the worst” KOTA, it’s nobody’s fault.. perhaps the most “unfortunate” 😢
No it is nobody’s fault at all !! Yeah u might be right 😉
@@kitegoofy and who knows! fingers crossed for some good action on/before Sunday!
They need to move the event to iceland lol
Cape town wind is pants. More wind in a sparrows fart

I think only 3 people could do that 😉Lorenzo Charles and Jamie
