I competed in the west coast Wavesailing tour events for more than 20 years, from the early 90s on. Robbie and his company were the main sponsor for many of them, from Waddell to Pistol. This is my chance to thank you (Robbie) personally for your involvement. I had a lot of fun, even placed a few times. Thanks man. USF10😎

I bought my first shortboard in Naish's shop in the 80s. When I walked into the shop I was in awe, the boards were all customs, just beautiful. Bought a 9,2 winged pintail with 2 thrusters. Still today, it was my favorite board to sail. Thanks Robbie!!!

Robbie Naish = humble. Right place right time is only a tiny factor behind the legend.

I was surprised to hear that he had sold….then after hearing why it makes perfect sense. Work life balance is very important and it changes over time. Health is number one, you have nothing without health. He keeps the brand and gets to partake in all the fun aspects, sounds perfect. Best of luck. Hope to see you on the water.

Great interview Ruben! You've got a very natural and pleasant way of getting your questions across and Robby just continues to be the legend of legends - well done both of you, really enjoyed it.

I am 58 years old kitesurf and surf as much as I can. Yes the only thing that stops you is injuries. I know it hurts but is the price we all pay. Rob you are an inspiration to me and motivates me to keep going. Thanks!!

Great interview. Robby is a legend. Was lucky to see Robbie in action several times (Schevingen, Tarifa..). I started windsurfing late 80’ on a Ten Cate from my father. Still have the original wooden wishbone. Great memories! ❤

Love it, thanks Ruben and Robbie. I met Robbie in Kailua in 2000, such a nice guy. Like him I sailed Hobie cats in the early 1970s, but in South Africa (I think he gets it wrong saying Hobie 12, the original model was the 14). Then windsurfed for two decades. I rode his AR5 back in 2004, but then bought a few of the C-kites and did not like them. Went to Best kites instead. In 2015 I bought the Pivot when it first came out and have stuck with Pivots ever since, thanks Robbie!

Een hobie 12, ik hoorde het ook, het zou kunnen, hobie bouwde er ooit meen 10 stuks van, hier in nederland ligt vermoedelijk de laatste nog

    Always the king!
Honestly I didn't appreciate the new owner of the company, because it stopped sponsoring Campello and I think he deserved to continue with Naish, because Naish needs a great showman who impersonates the fun and greatness of windsurfing

The one time that I saw Robby Naish in person was at the Pro-Am in Hood River probably in the late 80s. The competitors were in knee deep water just off the beach waiting for the race to start. Probably less than a minute before it started, a little kid lost a blow up water toy close by where the competitors were waiting. Robby calmly ditched his rig retrieved the toy and gave It back to the kid. He then went on to start the race with seconds to spare and win it ! Karma was strong that day.

I've watched and listened to Robby Naish all my life. Even sailed with him way back in the day and he gave me a Mistral wetsuit I wore for years .....
Story of MY life ? - Wrong place, Wrong time ALL the time, BAD luck and NO decisions. (No drugs, No Alcohol also though. Maybe I should have done that ? Been more successful. LOL).
Wow. I should have taken up windsurfing but it wasn't considered as a true sport yet. Just a "fad" that young'uns thought was cool.
I've collected some of the best boards over the years and never stopped windsurfing.

n i c e. Hi Robbie. I'm Karlie's former "babysitter." Could pick her up 5-6am to wakeboard. she was 9/10. she had a room in my house. so I heard a lot about you through her & "the kids." I windsurf -not well! Can't even jibe. Couple years back, I ran from you when we both got off an inter-island flight. At any rate, sorry to see you go! You changed lives. Wishing you the best & it is my extreme hope & desire that you stay happy & healthy. Warmest aloha & sincere best regards.

In freeskiing we don't use our names for brands because that seems super narcissistic.
Well done to sell your brand Robbie!
Let's create new brand names that are actually cool.
