He spoke the truth, when he said those words. ❤
I am glad I came across this video. I actually just doing lawn mowing services and it has been helpful. I get a call just about everday. I’m am thinking of doing this full time on the weekends. I have a a full time during the week for benefits, this would be to start my own business and have extra cash to have. Also I’m doing this for my son Liam, who will be on this earth in 3 months. I’ve never felt a love like this before. 😊
Congratulations brother on the new family member and starting your own business. EXCITING STUFF!!

Go for it!! Thank you for your support!
I'm so thankful I came across your video, I've had some experience doing lawn care at home and for my grandparents, aunt, I've been thinking of starting a side hustle with lawn care but I wasn't really sure on how to do so, but seeing this video really help me.

This is what I’m talking about … we have people like you making 600 dollars a day mowing…MOWING ! Yet again we see people jobless because they are lazy… keep up the good work bro!
Thanks for your support brother!!
Riight because they’re lazy lol
@ yep lazy there is many ways to make money
As a fellow vet, super proud of your hard work brother. I'm talking to my 16 yr old to help him learn this as a hustle. I'm half tempted to do it myself honestly. 1 day a week to bring in some extra cash flow. But for a 16 year old he could really make some good money doing this. His only issue he has is his social skills he is very recluse.
Thank you for your service! Thats amazing that your 16 year old is interested in getting into lawn care. It will teach him a lot of great lessons in life.
Recluses are great salespeople. Eye contact and speak up that'll do it.
Also as a fellow Vet, thank you BOTH for your services and keep up the great work brother! I enjoy the content and I am also a solo owner operator in the Lawn Care game in my local area in the FL panhandle region. Been at it two seasons now pt and going ft Spring 2024
@@Esquivelheadwhy do you say recluses are great salespeople
@@andrewmacfarlane4899 I just think labelling people isn't really the way to go. Anyone can do sells if someone can teach them. I knock doors with my sons to mow and they drop their jaws that I can get work, but putting someone down when all they need to do is learn a little skill isn't the coolest.
I am also a fellow vet. I am currently a special education teacher and I mow my elderly neighbor's lawn every week. She pay me $40. I am thinking about starting my own lawn care business on the side and on the weekends. Its a little intimidating thinking about everything that needs to be setup before you pull that cord, but this kind of content helps a lot! Thank you.
Glad it is helpful brother!!

I wish that I could find people to cut their lawn for just even half that. Where I live people won't pay no $65 when I tried 3 years ago half the people didn't even want me to do it for 20. So good luck and keep up the good work. And I'll keep watching. You guys do good work.😊

I guess it depends on where you live. I'm in a small town in Indiana with a 6600 sq ft lot and I was lucky enough to find a guy who mows it for 30.00. I only have him mow, no edging or weeding because I like doing that myself.

My Lawn Service the key factor as I found with my Lawn Service is attitude if you’re a nice person and you let them know that you are and you’re willing to work with him they will even pay more money to keep you. I have gotten so many tips good tips from being on time, listening to the customer and taking the time to go talk to them I’ve had so many customers that I’ve gone because of other companies have ran through there and didn’t take time to say good morning or anything and just be nice to the customer and make them feel important. I’ve gotten so many jobs from other companies that, they just didn’t talk to the people. I know you have to make money and I know time is money but invest the time into talking to your customers will meet the attitude makes a heck of a difference. I hope this helps somebody just really be nice and feel like you care for the people that you’re working for good luck.

Average, middle class subdivisions here in the St. Louis Mo. suburbs are between $30-$40 to cut, trim and blow. If you tell ANY of them it's going to be $67 ... they'll slam the door in your face.
Thanks for your input! We are grateful to be in a phenomenal market down here.
Wow, I'm up here in Northern jersey. I charge 65 a cut. I have several homes at that price and they are smaller yards. Guess location really is a factor.
No one cutting lawns for 30-40.
@one901 facts.
I live in Arkansas and 60 is the minimum I’ll show up to cut for
Loved the video! I have a quick question: why do you use a 21" mower instead of a 30" one that would still fit inside of the truck bed?
Thanks for the support! All of our mowing customers have pretty small yards. Also the 30 inch mowers aren't as durable as the 21 inch mowers. Honestly we can mow roughly the same amount of time as if we had a 30 inch mower on our size lots.
Smart idea to have the trimmer line so easily accessible while on the job. Efficient and awesome! 👏 😎
Agreed!
You are ripping up turf with that edger @Will Kelly leaving patches on the lawn!

As always Will, love your work!!! Thank you will for everything! So you would recommend the Toro Commercial mower, not a residential mower correct? I am about to get one. How much would I be looking at? Also, how do I calculate the pricing for each yard. Still a little off on this metrix. Also the first cut of the year or of a new customer of a overgrown yard? Thank you as always Will. Chad - Red Rock Lawn Care
Hey brother, because I know your situation more than most I would not recommend a commercial push mower at this time for you. I don't think for the price of $2k it is worth it for you right now. I would wait until you are running that thing 5 days a week 7 hours a day until you get a commercial mower. If you need a new mower, I think upgrading to a nice top of the line residential mower for $700 - $800 is the move for you. You will spend about a third less than you would on a commercial and allow you to keep more profits in your pocket to help you grow. I am planning on putting together a pricing sheet for anyone wanting it based off a 21 inch mower and small residential yards. We've had 4 years of mowing hundreds of lawns to come up with the blueprint for it. This can help get you accurate pricing for how much you want to make on your lawns.
@@TheWillKelly Hey Brother, thank you so much for the speedy response and the great feedback, as always. I will do the top in residential mower. Honda or Toro, just curious? Yes, I am interested in the pricing sheet for sure! Yeah, like I mentioned to you in our Zoom call, I love your business model and it is the one I want to pursue no doubt! I truly believe it would be the best business model in the DFW area as well! Thanks Will, Talk soon!
@@redrocklawncare Either one is a good mower. You won't go wrong with either.
@@TheWillKelly Very cool. Look, let me know about the pricing sheet, when you can. I am very intereted. Also what software do you use to get your square footage, in Aubrey, Mckinney, Frisco. I hope all is well. I just researched and found out that there are over 5k houses in like a mile radius is Frisco lol and they are very well off residents, not any scrubs lol. Damn that is unbelievable. You were not kidding when you said that there was money in the industry everywhere in the dfw area. Wow!! I can't to get out there! Talk soon. Chad
@@redrocklawncare Nice!! I'll look into getting the pricing sheet setup in the next few weeks. I basically have to build another website which I am okay with doing, it will just take some time. I can also do a video on mapping out a property as well to show you guys our process.

Respect to you my friend for wanting to take the plunge. I've been in this business for over 25yrs. How I started was working for a lawn company first to get a feel for how to do things. Like which trimmer, push mower, ride on etc. that works best for you. Doesn't have to be long, long enough to get experience and learn how to gadge as to how long it takes to mow. Then you can call around to get quotes for say your own property. This will help when quoting your own jobs. Over the years, I've switched all my clients from weakly cuts to bi-weekly cuts because you make more money. Where I am it's a 6 month cutting season. My absolute minimum is $600.(basically $50per cut). 10-12 medium size homes per day is do-able and this is solo by the way. That's $500-$600 gross a day. Again, you have to be out there to know what size lot constitutes a medium size lawn. Respond back and I can give you more tips and insights as to how I got started.
Have a great day friend.

Been a landscaper for 30 years.
Let me give you some advice that might put u over the top.
Offer a 10% discount to your customers to commit to a yearly contract.
Then add all their services for the year and divide the total by 12.
When you send out your contracts ask for 10% of the yearly price down to reserve their spot.
Now if you have 50 accounts at on average $2000 per year.
Before you start for the year you will have put in your company’s pocket $10,000. This can help you buy equipment and materials for the upcoming year.
Then divide their remaining balance over 12 months so that their monthly bill will be the same and they can budget.
When you get ready to sell your business you’ll stay on for the first year. Pocketing the deposits. Then work along side the new owner to show them the ropes.
Thanks for your advice!
Hey Will, just a heads up your weedeater head spins the opposite way that you're using it. That's why on the second job you kinda left some behind on the fence.

I have a small lawncare business in Colorado Springs - "In Season, Out of Season Yard Care."
I think my pricing metrics are a bit off. I inherited the set accounts & pricing from the gentleman i bought the business from, and I think most are fair or fairly low. I'm not using an $80/man hour metric on the mowing, but i do use a $69/man hour (plus dump fees) pricing for spring/fall clean outs. The former business owner wanted me to raise the prices after I acquired the business, but I didn't want to start out that way.
This is my second full year, but I'm not sure how to augment my pricing, except for small, incremental increases from year-to-year.
I'm trying to get rid of my restaurant/server job and do this REALLY FULL TIME. I currently have 26 customers (more than half of which are weekly mowings), and if I reach 35, then I can call it a day at the restaurant. That's my short-term plan.
What advice does anyone have to offer?
I pay $37 to lawn mowing. And 3 people need to work for 10 mins. Thats about $70 per hour per person. And you make $600, that gonna be 9 hours per day. I live in the 2nd most expensive area across US. And just noticed you use push mower. You really work hard!!!
And I have 6000 sqf lawn. So for a 8000 sqf lawn, my current company will charge $40~$45.
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
You have to take into consideration the drive time and the other expenses. That's underpriced.
I have the same truck!! I love that rear setup!
Yeah it’s super nice!
You’re talking about your turnarounds I started laughing because it’s a push mower😂 you only worry about turnaround on a commercial mower, but I would be more than glad to give you any advice that I’ve been given or have accumulated
It definitely helps with a push mower too to cut down on time.

Starting my business back! Great channel. I love your setup. I’ll be doing the same this time around.
Thanks for your support!
I'd recommend charging $60-$70-$80 or higher depending on not only your service providence, but also your gas. You need to pay gas for both machines, mowers, and vehicle at the end of, or during the rout/ day. So you'll come off with half to little of the money you had earned. That being said, you'll want to charge how much your service is worth, as well. You'll also want to save most the money you earn to purchase more equipment later in the future.
I'd also like to state I'm not in the lawn mowing business, I'm just going by logistics. You also may want to carry light equipment. Purchase the lightest equipment you can get a hold of once possible, it makes it easier to push the mower around, and would be much quicker, as well. If it's a blower, make sure it's light for your standards, so you don't lug it around and make yourself tired quicker. Same goes for the weed whackers and stuff.
I also see now he charges per hour once finished the video. My idea's mainly for people who are charging a one charge payment. But nah, if you charging per hour, you're probably golden for gas if you charge $20-$30 or more an hour. Lol 😂
Great points!! Thank you for sharing!
Like the process a lot but idk if I’m missing something but could you explain how you do your pricing again?
We charge based on the job. We charge $80 per man per hour
Great video, I live in your area, I'm honestly shocked how much your getting per yard, I will be increasing my prices for next season.
We live in a GREAT market and raising your prices will allow you for greater profit margins. I think that is a great idea!
Hey Will, nice video, very informative. Let me ask you about the racks for the weed wackers and leaf blower, what brand and where can I buy it. Same for the mesh ramp. Thank you.
Trimmer rack website for the racks. As for the dovetail we got it custom made with our welder

We have a really light residential mower we use when it is blistering hot outside for just 3 months out of the year to help the guys stamina since its so hot. It seems to work out since we only use it for a quarter of the year even though it is a bit cheaper than the commercial equipment we use.
@@Zack-nx9bl you'd be surprised.
I’m just starting my own lawn mowing service this spring and I’m looking for reasonable price I sorta started last year but this year I’m officially starting im getting the business cards and magnets for my truck doors and yes I know it’s hard work but it won’t be much work with a zero turn with a 60 inch deck with a hexidogon shaped deck I can cover a lot of areas that u would weed wack
Congrats on going all in on your business!
Fantastic, thorough and informative video. many thanks for sharing your inspiration and wisdom.
Do you collect grass cuttings as part of the job, as i saw your mower didnt use a bin?
Thanks
MJ
Thanks for your support! We do not bag any of our lawn clippings.
When you say you make that much in a day, are your customers paying you each visit? Or are you being paid monthly but that’s what each cut comes out to? Sorry if I missed that in the video. Great work!
MAD, MAD RESPECT! KEEP SLAYIN'!
I appreciate the support!!
We made $560 today on 4 lawns and 1 clean up. Woohoo. Keep mowing.

Working out of my chevy equinox, have a toro rwd bag mower, and all electric equipment looking to get after it

Sounds like you need to raise your prices!😅
You’re buddy from prosper, love the content! It’s been a min since we last talked. I’m a EMT/FIREFIGHTER but thinking of getting in the business but on the fence.

Thanks for the support brother!!
I would love to start a lawncare business. I live in a small town and I would feel bad charging the people here 80$ an hour. Some of the yards are bigger, but I just don't have any idea what my hourly should be.
You could call a few companies around and get an average price to just at least start to get you in the right ballpark.
Great video Will. Thank you for the advice.
Glad it was helpful!
How do you like remove the grass clippings and how do you clean the property without a dump. I fill my dump every day.
we don't remove grass clippings or bag
