morphe should have stuck to trying to be a makeup artist brand, and not a retail-every day consumer based store. make less quantity, better quality, for consumers who need those sort of products for their job. those were the people who did need, and still need, larger palettes for every day use. i know a couple make-up artists who were devastated when morphe changed their formula in 2016/2017 because it was there go-to for jobs, lower priced and decent quality, but them becoming an influencer brand absolutely fucked it for themselves.

@@meganmarshall3952 Seriously. Plenty of rich people lose everything because they can’t keep up with payments. Eventually they will fizzle out and no one will care. Being an influencer is not a stable job and many influencers have no backup plan. Most of the people I watched a decade ago who were at the top are irrelevant now and I was addicted to UA-cam. Shane, Anthony Padilla, The Try Guys, and Trisha are the only ones still pulling in views. This was back when cancel culture wasn’t a thing too. Cancel culture is only going to get worse make being an influencer of an unstable job.
It's really not very surprising that Morphe didn't survive the cultural shift with influensers and covid, building their whole brand on other peoples brands was a huge mistake long term.
I've never gotten on the Morphe bandwagon, even way back in the day when they first started and all the UA-camrs were talking about them. I could smell their BS from a mile away.
All these celebrity make up and products are so way over priced, I will stick with wet and wild….. You don’t need to be a master mind to do your own make up and still look FABULOUS….
I feel like the only way they can possibly come back is if they turn super affordable, like I’m talking about LA Girl affordable. Items less than $20 tbh
i think if morphe wants to turn things around, they need to help the yt beauty community make a comeback. they work when influencers work, so they need to support influencers into becoming THAT big again - that means collabs, promos, and yes, drama. i don’t know if ANYONE would be down tho and this is purely me talking from a business, not moral, standpoint.
Honestly the ONLY good thing from Morphe was their line of white bristle brushes & their highlighters. Cant wait to get some nice new brushes at TJ max 😊😊
So true - 8:27 . Promoting brands and then actually getting it and being dissatisfied is so upsetting when you pay your hard earned money for it. If anything I think brands should at least give somebody a discount code to use on their next purchase rather than a brand deal where you have to essentially lie
morphe products were always meh or bad for me, like shedding brushes and such i never understood the hype when there were so many other brands even then that were affordable and at a good quality like Elf
One of this company's biggest mistakes was, that they only thought that the big so-called beauty influencers were the key to them being on top but they should have looked at the smaller beauty channels. In my opinion, I don't believe anything these beauty influences say. They all lie for profit.
I’m more upset about the loss of lipstick queen! I got a sample of their frog, prince lipstick, eons ago, and the parent company stopped producing it by the time I ran out 😭😭😭😭
It seems like Morphe built their brand on an unstable foundation (messy personalities). This is why many companies who work with individuals have behavior and professionalism clauses.
Girl I felt your statement about how the pandemic changed everything. Most of the pallets I’ve purchased are just collecting dust. I’ve got my staple looks and that about it
Imagine cancelling someone but you owe them money and not paying them back and having their products priced down in the process. Ahaha. What a concept.
I buy makeup i try on and use myself. I'm a genx and during our time our influencers are the ones we know irl who has great taste in makeup and fashion and goes shopping with us and suggest. Nowadays you got strangers getting paid to be fake and suggest how to this and that without catering to your own aesthetics.
I don’t think it was the pandemic that changed the buyers perspective. I think it was the beauty industry sponsoring so many influencers who had little to no knowledge about the products. People were buying products that were sub quality at a quality price tag. I think people got desensitized. Buyers thought their favorite influencers were on their side, but realized influencers we’re doing quick cash grabs.
I guess it was a mixture of everything. But with the pandemic, many people didn't have the need to put on makeup everyday, so why buy extravagant palettes? And now that everything is getting so expensive, people just don't have the disposable income they used to have. But of course, seeing the industry collabing with the wrong people and letting them get away with everything also left a bad taste.
@@finyafuxfell3031 that is very valid. I was fortunate enough to work through the pandemic and didn’t think about the people not getting ready or putting money into products. You’re right, I feel there is a good mix of pandemic purchase and desensitization playing a factor into it.
@@Doris_Fleming Yeah I get that. I was working from home (and to this day I still do). My focus shifted from makeup to good sweatpants and better skincare. 😄
I had a few Morphe palettes at one point in time since I like different products from different brands, but it was almost underwhelming. They felt hard to build on and the colors weren’t great. I’ve been a die hard ColourPop fan for years and I personally swear by their stuff
It’s really hard to feel sorry for someone who has lied about and stolen ideas from other people through her entire career. Karma has caught up with Jaclyn and said “Time’s up, Girl. BYE.”
I just think Nowadays people are looking at the product differently than they were a couple of years ago. Most people want to know whats in the product rather than who is representing it. Yes influencers are great when it comes to marketing a product or brand but the thing is with morphe they didn't really hire the best influencers to really represent their brand in a way they hoped or how they handled a situation where one of their influencers weren't acting correctly or did something bad. I think overall you really need to look into the person you want representing your company and they didn't do that. I kind of had a feeling this would happen when all of the shane/jefferee/james/tati drama happened.
I went into Morphe a few weeks before it shut down and even them trying to slash prices to make their palettes more affordable...like the one in Seattle is right across from Sephora and ppl were always heading into Sephora over Morphe, even during inflation. But tbh how does something like MAC survive then? I guess status matters.
I wouldn’t think that Dixie and Charlie would be good for Morphe just in the sense they aren’t makeup influencers. They should have stuck with the makeup influencers in my opinion. But like you said it seems like people are more into natural makeup now days.
I agree with you with the influencer were always hyping morphe. I got a make up brush a few years ago because that’s all I was hearing hot good it was etc. I used the brush once and it started shedding and it make be not like morphe because it. I thought there was other good brushes out here

I saw that a bunch of their colorful palettes were recalled and there’s a lawsuit
I’ve never had any issues with the few Morphe palettes I have; in fact I just got the holiday palette from Ebay. I’ve found them great for a soft eye look, but there’s many other brands that will work just as well too. 🙂
this is so weird to me, how fast they just shut down is sus. I feel like they r gonna just change the name of the company. I dont understand how they dont even have the money to pay all the top names they teamed up with, its crazy and it just does not makes sense
morphe should have stuck to trying to be a makeup artist brand, and not a retail-every day consumer based store. make less quantity, better quality, for consumers who need those sort of products for their job. those were the people who did need, and still need, larger palettes for every day use. i know a couple make-up artists who were devastated when morphe changed their formula in 2016/2017 because it was there go-to for jobs, lower priced and decent quality, but them becoming an influencer brand absolutely fucked it for themselves.
Girl, jefree, Jaclyn and James don't need that money. They'll literally be fine. It get why they're deserved it. But at thus point, nah. They won't even miss it. They'll earn it next week or something
Edit: girl none of these people have to work a 9-5 EVER. Idc about their financial status when we all know damn well they don't have to lift a FINGER to make the money that morphe owes them. Yall defend rich problematic people for anything. 💅
I saw that Mr. Jafar Sasquatch came out with a new collection. He’s gonna just fine…
Just because they’re rich doesn’t mean they should just not care about getting paid. Do you realize to stay rich, you have to still work….and make money….
Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid? They didn’t work for free…..
Not the point. TWO MILLION DOLLARS is so much money to just take from someone. Poor, middle class, or rich. That money is your money
Proud to say I never gave them my money. They always had negativity surrounding them.
Don't be surprised if Jebodiah Starfish starts liquidating his entire yak beef operation to cover his rental bills. 💅🏽
The store was not a good move cause I got to swatch in person…. If I had bought online I would have been too lazy to return it
All these celebrity make up and products are so way over priced, I will stick with wet and wild….. You don’t need to be a master mind to do your own make up and still look FABULOUS….
I feel like the only way they can possibly come back is if they turn super affordable, like I’m talking about LA Girl affordable. Items less than $20 tbh
This video hits like no other! Good information! 😍😍 Totally agree with everything!
OMG when J⭐️ was on the screen my kitten flew at my phone out of nowhere and started punching my screen with her paw right where his face was 😂
i think if morphe wants to turn things around, they need to help the yt beauty community make a comeback. they work when influencers work, so they need to support influencers into becoming THAT big again - that means collabs, promos, and yes, drama. i don’t know if ANYONE would be down tho and this is purely me talking from a business, not moral, standpoint.
Honestly the ONLY good thing from Morphe was their line of white bristle brushes & their highlighters. Cant wait to get some nice new brushes at TJ max 😊😊
And ironically because of those very influencers, it was their demise
So true - 8:27 . Promoting brands and then actually getting it and being dissatisfied is so upsetting when you pay your hard earned money for it. If anything I think brands should at least give somebody a discount code to use on their next purchase rather than a brand deal where you have to essentially lie
morphe products were always meh or bad for me, like shedding brushes and such i never understood the hype when there were so many other brands even then that were affordable and at a good quality like Elf
Why do companies fail once they have been sold off to a bigger company. Kylie cosmetics is going down the same path
Eliminate competition.
@something Like n wow I didn't realize but now it's making sense 🤔
I buy Jeffrey Star makeup because it's amazing quality. They got rid of him but kept James Charles? They created their own downfall with the drama
Damn I’m gonna miss the morphe setting spray 😫
It’s still available online only
@@rosalinda69 good!!!❤️
Absolutely NOT! Those influencers will NEVER see that money!
I got a sample of their frog, prince lipstick, eons ago, and the parent company stopped producing it by the time I ran out 😭😭😭😭
On the topic of morphe, it’s now at target. Saw it at the sky pointe target in Vegas
Ms. Spilly throwing shade in this video like it's nothing 😎
It seems like Morphe built their brand on an unstable foundation (messy personalities). This is why many companies who work with individuals have behavior and professionalism clauses.
I think it wasn’t the smartest to Collaborate with tiktokers cuz they are not makeup gurus like JC or J.S or Jaclyn
Never bought JS, JC, JH, or Morphe products. In Ulta, I swatched their products and they were crappy.
It's selling for full price in my country
I mean… I love morphe and hope they stay in business. Their products are great and still affordable. 10/10 for morphe.
I'm sure I watched something about their palletes changing for the worst because they couldn't use a formulation that Jh had designed anymore.
I liked the morphe continuous setting spray
I’ve been a die hard ColourPop fan for years and I personally swear by their stuff
this is a shame bc morphe pops off in australia we don’t care about drama over here 😭
is the makeup any good?
@@mariajoana7438 All Morphe makeup products are manufactured in China. Its the same everywhere.
They’re going to have to market their ass off with ads, etc. and new influencers. Only time can tell we don’t know the fate of TikTok.
Jaclyn doesn't own Jaclyn Cosmetics...
So not only are they going through a lawsuit for unsafe makeup AND closed their US stores, now they owe influencers money?! This brand is done for 💀
It’s really hard to feel sorry for someone who has lied about and stolen ideas from other people through her entire career. Karma has caught up with Jaclyn and said “Time’s up, Girl. BYE.”
Morphe’s business practices were dodgy. Play stupid games win stupid prizes… 😌💅🏽
morphie is now at marshall’s and tj maxx! go get your makeup besties!
I honestly didn’t know that morphe had physical stores 🤐
I went into Morphe a few weeks before it shut down and even them trying to slash prices to make their palettes more affordable...like the one in Seattle is right across from Sephora and ppl were always heading into Sephora over Morphe, even during inflation. But tbh how does something like MAC survive then? I guess status matters.
I wouldn’t think that Dixie and Charlie would be good for Morphe just in the sense they aren’t makeup influencers. They should have stuck with the makeup influencers in my opinion. But like you said it seems like people are more into natural makeup now days.
Truly feel for all the staff who were suddenly without an income during the holiday season.
I agree with you with the influencer were always hyping morphe. I got a make up brush a few years ago because that’s all I was hearing hot good it was etc. I used the brush once and it started shedding and it make be not like morphe because it. I thought there was other good brushes out here
I’ll stick with my Dose or Colors and Fenty Beauty makeup.
I own a lot of make up but glad I never got any from morphe. I have one brush that I actually bought with my own $ and one was free with an ultra order as a freebie samples / gift with purchase and they’re okay. Real techniques is waaaaaay better.
If they don’t see the money they have signed a contract for then it just gonna be another lawsuit
ex morphe employee here….makes sense why i couldn’t ever get a raise.. lmfaoo
