@AndreeMarie I got bleach blonde highlights in my hair about 5 weeks ago. How long should I wait to do texture release in my hair? Or better yet, is it wise to put a texture release in my hair while having bleach-blonde highlights? What do you ultimately advise? My hair is 3B/3C type curl pattern (4a around the perimeter) and was virgin before doing the bleach blonde highlights all over. Please advise. I would love your guidance. Thank you for this video!!!❤❤❤
Such a great video. Agree 💯 after a lifetime being relaxed couldn't cope with being natural. The TR stopped me from relaxing again and helped me embrace my natural hair. Does stay for a long time. I can see me doing them once a year.
I HEAVILY agree on the root touch up only. That’s one thing I intuitively decided to do on my own but I’m happy more stylists are doing the same after understanding the process better. Three months is too quick for a root to tip application. Six months root touch up then six months root to tip works best for me
Brilliant info, thankyou so much. I wish I'd heard of texture release a couple of years ago. I grew out my relaxer in 2019 & my curls are lovely but I've tried to trim it myself and I've cut top much off over the years so it's now too short for me. I hope a texture release can give me a little bit of length and make it not as poofy 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I just want to say thank you for your information on texture release because I did get one back in November and I did enjoy it but I do agree you can’t keep silk press your hair all the time you must change up. I’m 59yrs old and have been wrapping my hair for a long time and I’ve been trained by a very good old school stylist who has passed away but she put a lot of time into her clients and how to care for your hair. But your information has been more helpful to me during this journey and I thank you. I’m in the Us and I know it’s just making its way here but it works for 4b 4c hair very well. I’m able to comb my hair wild wet and that was big for me. Because I didn’t want to go back to relaxers and and texturizing only last for so long. Within this time I’ve worn roller set and braids. But I will be trying Avalon products because I bought Mizani sulfate free products and they worked well but I want a protein team before I silk press again. Again thank you!
Loved the knowledge you shared. I am over being fully natural. I am looking to book an appointment with you for texture release. I couldn't find your name in the options. Do you still do texture releases? When will you be having the next appointment released? I am just desperate to release those curls to become manageable and stop covering my hair.
Hi Andree, I just found you here and I love your posts especially about the hair transplant. I had mine barely 4 weeks ago and oh my gosh… it itchy . Thanks for being soo truthfull . Be bless and keep it up. I’m woman of color and comes from Ghana. Bye. Good luck
Great video may I ask do you give step by step instructions on the products and steps when straightening on wash day like steps for a dummy for example it’s washed then put in leave I’m conditioner heat protection etc I want to do everything the right way I will be coming in a few months to see you I am so excited
I feel like the video focuses on only pure straightened hair and natural but I wanted to know if the texture release can loosen up curls. For example I have 3b/c hair I want to know if a texture release can make it to a 3a or 2c and if not what other treatments can I use?
It’s does because of the straightening at the first visit. A curly perm is the only thing that can really do that a texturise can sometimes get it too straight.
I got a texture release done on Monday. I would love to come to your salon to get a full head of highlights but I have fine chin length hair and I think it may be best to wait a long time before I get colour. For now, I’ll be adding coloured clip ins.
So I am 4C. I don't consider my hair hard to manage since I've found the right tools and products. I love my hair in wash n go style and occasionally straight. I love my hair and don't want the curls to disappear and not exist anymore. My stylist has suggested it to me, but I'm nervous 😬
Hello. Can you get similar results if you use keratin/ smoothing products (such as shampoo and conditioner, etc.) without getting the actual treatment? For example, will it still eliminate the frizz and loosen the curl pattern? Perhaps over time?
Thanks for the info! How I wish I had this information before. Any tips for heat-damaged hair? I have areas of my hair that are completely straight though it has been 7 months since my texture release. My original texture is very course 4C hair
Can you go from a relaxer to a texture release. I had 4b/c hair and my natural hair will not curl up after it dried. I got tired of the gels and products junky stuff. But mostly I was tired of having an Afro that wasn’t cute. So I went back to creamy crack of the relaxer
When you say you usually use the keratin treatment for the looser curl type, could you elaborate further and why is this please? I have mostly 4b/a texture, would you use a keratin treatment on me or are you referring to possibly type 3 hair types? Thank You - EXCELLENT VIDEO!
I mean people who tend to have type 3 ish curl. If you want to have curls I would recommend a TR as sometimes keratins can be a bit drying especially when overlapped. The tension between the new growth and the hair can snap
I really loved my texture release- thought I’d found the perfect treatment to help me enjoy my hair more. Is shedding normal though? Lots of shedding, very mild breakage too 😢
Same here I experience shedding. Once I start seeing the shedding I oil my scalp and then can’t wait for a deep conditioner wash the next 8 days or so lol then it bounces right back.
I’ve done deep conditioners weekly and used Olaplex. Still lots of shedding. Is it not meant to be put on scalp? Not sure if it was applied on scalp but it’s a big drawback.
@@eyekandy3000 I would say the TR is not suppose to be directly put on the scalp, more so new growth and hair shaft and ends but the scalp should be avoided. If that happens I would advise the next wash being a protein deep conditioner like shea moisture Black Jamaican Castor oil strengthening masque adding a real Jamaican Castor oil to the masque and then deep conditioning under a dryer or foil cap if you have it for 1hr with the cap or 30mins with the heat. But you have to make sure your scalp is cleaned before that with a clarifying shampoo so deep conditioner can penetrate affectively. Also check to see if the brand/conpany you use for the TR has a PH bond balancing or building product for it, may be best to use that as the maintenance at home.
Thank you for the insightful video. Really helped to clear things up for me. My hairdresser believes a keratin treatment would be better at preserving my curls on my fine hair. However, in your professional opinion would a texture release perhaps be more suitable/more gentle? Thanks
I find keratins to be slightly more harsh as smoothing systems which tend to be milder better. I find keratins better at keeping hair super straight but for fine hair TR is better if needed at all
I want to wear my hair curly 99.9% of the time, however, because I shampoo once weekly and co-wash at probably day 3 or 4 (due to gym, etc), it did last long at all (maximum 8 weeks); found it quite pricey for 1 treatment. Any suggestions how to prolong the treatment, except wetting my hair less? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.🤗
Thank you for the warning and advice about fine hair! Never heard that take on the temperature for fine hair. I'm traumatized by heat damage I've gotten at salons. And I am considering doing this at home. What would you say about doing this at home ourselves or is this something someone needs applied by someone else
If I choose versatile, however, choose to wet set my hair weekly and then silk wrap on my wash day(s), vs blow drying & flat iron will I be prone to heat damage (as I plan on using indirect vs direct heat)?
Can I use k18 and can I still get braids and sew pins with it. I either wear my hair in knotless braids or sew ins and then keep hair out for a couple months once I take them down, but I wear my hair straight. I’m so close to going back to relaxer but I want to try this first
Can I wash my hair a few days BEFORE a texture release ? If not how much days Should I wait between washing my hair and a new texture release ? Love your videos x
Hi @Andrea Marie, have you tried Olaplex products. I have a texture release and have some Olaplex products I purchased before getting the texture release and wondering if they would be ok to use in hair wash routine? ❤
Heya lovely the brand is AVLON and the treatment is a texture release. Different companies targeted a Afro hair so it but they fall under smoothing systems 🥰
Thanks for this video! Ive watched all the previous ones as Ive been thinking of getting one. Can I still use olapex products after a texture release? Like the 1st wash day after it? Thankss
I’ve got scalp psoriasis and find that relaxer are too strong for scalp, last time I did a relaxer over 10 years ago, it brunt my scalp so much I still have a small dent in the middle of my head from where it burnt my scalp. I want to cut my hair into a pixie but too scared to relax again. I have 4c hair although currently heat damaged from straightening too much. Will a texture release be better?

I've had two so far, and it been amazing. But I find my hair has suddenly gone very thin. What does that mean Not sure what's on. The only thing I can say is I left my hair a month before a w/b and my roots was thick but rest of hair was straight. I was thinking may the difference texture of root and hair. HELP!
@AndreeMarie I got the k18 and used it wkn. 1, does this shampoo strip of the texture release? And would i be able to Tex Rel my roots? m happy to wear my hair curly but my roots is not as soft as the rest of my hair, and want to travel soon. I last TR my hair early December 2023.

Keratin is a protein which is made up of amino acids. I don’t understand the difference you stated between Keratin and Texture release.
Texture release contains less which end up being less harsh for our hair and less drying and also other ingredients
