Kinda weird how rare it is to just have a Batman story where the focus is mostly on how can the hero save these people rather than how can he beat the villain in a fight.
I haven't read a super hero comic book story revolving around a hero focusing in saving lives rather than WWE a villain in so long that this felt oddly cathartic? Like no big event, no big fights, no major deaths, just a villain being a villain and a hero doing their best to save everyone.
What a breath of fresh air too, huh? Something you'd probably see in the Batman animated series play out, and simple too. I love a good comic with a simple premise.
This is the best modern Joker story I’ve seen in a long while. He’s intimidating, but also funny and creative. He brutally kills a guy with Joker venom, but then poses for pictures. That’s what the Joker always was for me- a force to be reckoned with, sure, but not the grim Snyder version or any other interpretation where he’s like, the embodiment of all evil
@@samuelc.9686 but it shouldnt be the norm. The whole thing with the dark knight trilogy is that its supposed to be a more realistic elseworld type deal
Makes me think of the time that he and Wildcat are gonna fight, and he says, “So no gadgets or trained attack bats.” “….trained attack bats?” “I don’t know what you’re into!”
The device was probably something that releases a noise or smell or some type of signal for them to attack Prolly another reason Batman would be active at night is is to use that
My favorite is the kid calling Joker out exactly what he is: a Bully. That's all Joker really is in the end, a bully that likes to hurt others to make himself feel bigger than he actually is.
Even with cursory glances and little knowledge about the comics, I can say that's flat out incorrect. Bullies use intimidation and force to get what they want out of people, while the joker is almost always shown to just use people as a means to an end, intimidation or otherwise. The joker isn't a bully (or at least, when he doesn't feel like it), he's a highly chaotic psychopath who knows how to control a crowd.
I really like that Batman actually saved the kid and his family instead of just putting the “you’ll be fine” line in their for a manufactured knife twist when joker kills them.
I like to believe that was a normal cookie. He appears to be lenient with the children considering he handed out normal candy and hot dogs to them earlier
Y'know, considering how joker goes from carnival-themed-torture to legitimately just hand out food depending on whether he's serving an adult or a kid, I guess it's not too much of a stretch that he becomes a family man with a deep love for his own in Harley Quinn (the animated series); he seems to genuinely have the tiniest bit of a soft spot for children even if he's still twisted about it..
The Joker is deeply fascinated by batman because he had the polar opposite reaction to the ugliness of the world. While Joker gave up on having any sense of morality whatsoever and just started doing literally whatever he wanted whenever he wanted, Batman refused to accept that reality is purposelessly cruel and so decided to take it upon himself to make the world make sense. He decided to extrapolate deeper meaning from his tragedy and dedicated his entire being to stopping injustice. Joker sees his commitment. He made himself smarter than anyone and stronger than anyone for this mission. Joker thinks Batman is fucking hilarious because despite being so impressive, his mission is still futile. People still suffer immensely every day, often for no purpose other than for the kicks of some madman or petty criminal. It doesn't matter how amazing Batman makes himself: because his principles hold him back from instilling any real change. Joker found the Wile E. Coyote to his Road Runner: an unwilling comedic partner that's smart enough to be a true nemesis but too naive to ever end the game. All comic relief needs a straight man to bounce off of, and the Joker found the best straight man there is. That's why Joker simply does not care who Bruce Wayne is. to know who he is is to explain the joke. The joker counts on the fact that Batman will NEVER abandon his morals: because as long as Batman refuses to kill him, the gag continues to play out. But even if Batman DOES inevitably kill him, Joker still gets to prove that Batman's mission is for nothing. No one man can change how cruel the world is.
Of course Batman would shrug off a mallet to the foot, this is the same character that gets punched by gods on a daily basis, I’m surprised he’s not as vulnerable as Superman at this point
honestly a fun Joker story that shows he's psychotic without being painfully edgy (like that time he cut his own face off). A lotta what's good about the Joker is that he's not JUST a lunatic with deranged ideas, but that sometimes he's doing something goofy, if not lethal, and this is one of those instances. I like it when he'll kill some people, but he's doing something really corny at the same time to offset it and not being a purely deranged serial killer with an absurd amount of plot armor and an exaggerated sense of importance. He's a crazy killer clown who has an obsession with his relationship with Batman. That being said, I did like the one story where he was a head in a jar and dubbed himself the new Robin. Idk, but Joker as just a head was probably the best portrayal of him during Snyder's run. That's both a good and a bad thing, but y'know what I liked it, as weird and dumb as it sounds. Def a better post apocalyptic Joker than Jared Letto's since there were no references to giving Batman a reach-around (I feel like they purposefully picked one of his worst takes for that scene for some reason. I mean hell, the trailer shot where he goes, "We live in a society" would have at least been funny if they kept it in)
