I love it when an older, well respected, straight (vs. always cast in overtly comedic roles) actor such as Tom Bosley ventures into the madness, plays as well as he can and has a splendid time, gets laughs and leaves with his dignity (and sanity) intact. This comment also applies to Leslie Nielsen, who at the time had never done comedy. ("Airplane!" was his entree into that world, in 1980, and even in that he played it as if it were a drama.)
Richard scores his 76th H/H match. A second blah week in terms of H/H matches. For the second week in a row, it was all Richard all the time. There was only one successful match the first day of the week and another the last day of the week. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 80% (4 wins in 5 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50% (15 wins in 30 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50% (7 wins in 14 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 35.5% (76 wins in 214 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 425, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
We had a pigeon, her name was MISS KOO, we had her for eight years and 23 days! When we would go on vacation, she had a special travel cage, she could not fly. But we would roll down the window, which only goes halfway, of course, and she was spread her wings and hold her wings out like she was flying! She loved to go in the car! Along with our four dogs and our four cats. They all went on vacation with us together. We never left any of them at home or in some type of kennel.
The show had been off the air for a while and Dixon wasn't even in the last season, moving on to become a prolific director and producer. So I'm sure Richard knew it was unlikely for this woman to come up with that answer.
@@mehboobkm3728 I suspect he liked to give wrong answers to get more joke time in! It doesn't seem like he did much TV after Match Game. He did appear on the spin off MG Hollywood Squares Hour though. I wonder how his frozen yogurt stand turned out in Hawaii. I know he hS that condition of his left hand where all the fingers are small, but he did become a musician so i guess the hand was usable. He did always hide the hand though.
I know it was a long time ago, but the judge was wrong, where did he go to school? The question was blah blah blah the weird elf snuck into Santa's bedroom and 'blanked' his beard. And the contestant's answer was, He "Cut" Santa's Beard, Tom Bosley said he"Cut it off" and the judge called it a match, but when Richard Dawson said he "Shaved" Santa's beard the judge buzzed his answer as being incorrect. However, the definition of Shave is: to Cut off one's hair with a razor blade, so the judge was wrong and that game should have ended in a tie. I don't know why that bugged me, but it did, silly I know, of course It wasn't the first time the judge was wrong and refused to match an answer.
I don't think it was silly. The judgement was incorrect, and an injustice was committed. That is supposed to bother people of good character. Maybe it's reminding you of some other injustice that happened in your life or a loved one's.
Brett’s Easter bonnet looks like a fishing hat. Also, this aired on Friday, March 21st, which was not Good Friday. The following Sunday (March 23rd) was Palm Sunday.
Miller-Day, round 1, question A: "Sure, I'll throw this contestant a BONE… oh, wait." (Bzzt!) Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Richard) SIAMESE (if asked after Richard) BOBBSEY Part 2: THE TERRIBLE Miller-Williams, round 1, question B: "Guitar, guitar, guitar, guitar, GUITAR!" (Ding!) (Bonus points to anyone who knows the reference.) Question A: "'We're very worried about Jumbo. He thinks he's a TV ANTENNA.' 'Well, why don't you take him to a vet?' 'We would, but it'd ruin our reception.'" (Bzzt!) Round 2, question B: (lay out)
If that's a guess about the guitar reference, nope. (That is, Dixon may have used the line, for all I know, but I was thinking of a bit in the Jungle Jam album "Cheetah Bonita Goes Solo".)
A slow week again but Richard pulls it out at the last moment giving away 7,100 dollars in a head to head and audience match matches with 14 matches for the regulars.. Tom gave away 500 dollars in an audience match match with 11 matches for the semi regulars.
Why would someone toss a banana at an ugly baby? I’m totally confused… I tried searching Google for an answer, and it only came up instances of tossing bananas as a racist act… that doesn’t seem to fit this question though.
I am getting a little tired of Louise winning, would like to see a fresh and new player on stage to get a chance at the big bucks. Hope she gets de-thrown in this game.
Meredith Mcrae's answer about the baby question was one of the funniest answers I ever heard on Match Game.
It was hysterical, but she had to have known that there was zero chance of matching the contestant.
Her reaction to her own answer was priceless 😂
The clowning around NEVER stops on this gameshow!
It was the most original show with all the crazy they allowed on it.

They were all so lovable and amusing 🥰🥰🥰💜🙋♀️😃

Louise, you were the sweetest contestant. Whatever happened to you? Let your fans know please.

I always want to know what they do during the commercial break!
ME TOO!! ;0)

My hat is off to Richard Dawson who dropped the British accent for his new homeland.
"Asp" was the PERFECT Match Game answer. Bra would have been better but if the question has Cleopatra in it then the answer is invariably, "Asp".
Mr. C(Happy Days), Radar(M*A*S*H), Sally Ann(My Three Sons) & Newkirk(Hogan's Heroes) on the Match Game '75 panel!!!
Wow Meredith 😲 me with her answer of tossed the 👶 across the room, she was definitely channeling Patti D
I SURE was hoping that Richard did NOT utter Ivan DIXON, his former co star! He nailed it again, though, with Hoe!!
The show had been off the air for a while and Dixon wasn't even in the last season, moving on to become a prolific director and producer. So I'm sure Richard knew it was unlikely for this woman to come up with that answer.
12:44 not surprising since Gary is an accomplished drum player.
There is only ONE answer for any Cleopatra questions.
Charles Philip Adams In much the same way that there is the only one answer to superman questions ... actually they are the same answer.
Gary got it wrong.

Gene treats the panel like kids. He takes the hats away and puts them on opposite desk. lol
we thought of THE BAND, So they could all FRY together, man
2:26 nice comment by Gary.
Brett used to bug the hell out of me. Now shes starting to grow on me. Was sweet when she told her........We're your friends honey!
She has always impressed me as being down to earth and would be fun to be around.
She said it so quickly that I immediately thought There’s the real Brett. Sweet lady.
I watched the show when it first aired. She has yet to grow on me.
When's she's not drinking she's a much nicer person.
Brett’s Easter bonnet looks like a fishing hat.

When you tape in advance, it probably gets confusing to keep track of the expected air dates sometimes.

Ivan Dixon (Richard's "Hogan's Heroes" co-star for most of its run).
If that's a guess about the guitar reference, nope. (That is, Dixon may have used the line, for all I know, but I was thinking of a bit in the Jungle Jam album "Cheetah Bonita Goes Solo".)

Tom Bosley was an awfully good player. I don’t recall him being on again. Too bad, he was a lot of fun.
Time Flys When Your Having Fun And Next Time Were Gonna Have A Ball Gene Reynolds
A BAG!!! a BAG!!
Can’t believe Gary said navel!
Funny comment by Brett
Tossed him a mask or diaper
Isn't Brett's verbal stream of consciousness fascinating??
Yes.
No it's irritating.
I am so SICK of these warden/execution questions!!!
Also pigeons aren't green!
@kristabrewer6736 Drama Queen!
Brett’s son is sitting right next to her. His first name is Gary

Gary spelled pigeon - PIGON. HA!!
He often mispells words. He probably had dyslexia. It's a learning disability.
Guitar
The guitar could go in his lap, but he'd surely need extra space for the amp since it must have been an electric guitar.
I am getting a little tired of Louise winning, would like to see a fresh and new player on stage to get a chance at the big bucks. Hope she gets de-thrown in this game.

👀
Tom Bosley was a creep. I saw him talk terrible to Wally George on the Alan Thicke show.
I said a bone but banana was much better.🦴🍌 I was so happy to see Louise finally match Richard.
Bone was first thought.
