The blue line needs a tweak and they need to get a better top 6 with some wingers for EP40. Silovs has definitely made a case to be the backup for next season. Maybe even play a few more games and let Demko rest more.

    • @SushiParty
      @SushiParty 26 днів тому +1

@@Jrrobins99 Zadorov has definitely endeared himself to the team and fans with his playoff play. Hronek and Lindholm are both big question marks. Hronek would definitely price himself out of Vancouver if he asks for a big raise and long term, which I can't blame him for, but his value has definitely dropped based on his performance in the 2nd half of the season and in the playoffs. However, he has been the best partner for Hughes, so trading him might affect our #1 Dman.
Lindholm definitely had a bad start with the team, but the fact that he joined up late and was playing through an injury might excuse some of his performance. I would be interested to see how he would be if he had a proper training camp and time to fit into Tocchet's system. His playoff performance was pretty decent compared to EP40 and I wouldn't mind seeing him stay, especially after what we gave up for him.
It's going to be an interesting offseason and seeing what Allvin does this summer to the roster with a little more cap flex.

DeSmith is a solid backup, but if he had to play 50 games the team would be in trouble… Do they go with Sillovs as the backup and try to limit Demkos playing time? I saw a lot of internet comments saying things like “the Canucks suck” from the same people who said they’d go all the way. The entire first half, I knew they’d overachieved and at some point, they’d settle in to being a playoff team, but not top 3 team. They’d need Demko to stay healthy and play at the top of his game and other things to go right, even with the structural changes. They just ran into the two best players in the game and they couldn’t overcome the injuries. I’m just glad some of the vitriol I read in posts is going to stop…eventually.

Not a diehard VAN or EDM fan, but overall I like both teams. My heart was rooting for Canucks to go on a Cinderella run, but my brain told me the Oilers would be Canada's best chance to break the cup curse.
My criticism on Vancouver: first off, you can't keep expecting to win games putting up less than 20 shots in total. Secondly, where was Quinn Hughes this entire series? Lucky for him the Norris trophy is based solely on the regular season, not so lucky for his team this series.
Pettersson had an ok effort in game 7, but he really needed to step it up in the postseason, and really didn't do much. Demko has to get healthy and stay healthy next year for this team to go deeper. Silovs did his best, but he's not elite like Demko.
Vancouver exceeded expectations both by finishing 3rd overall in the West (1st in Pacific), and then making out out of the first round, and Only a 1 goal difference ended their season in round 2. Tocchet did a great job. Overall I think you Vancouver fans should be proud of your team!

I really feel that Vancouver was one top 6 winger away from going deeper. Suter was good, but he missed too many opportunities and shouldn't be on the top line. Petterson also needs top 6 wingers. Hoglander could work, but they really needed a Toffoli out there with Petey.
Hughes, Zadorov, Meyers and Soucy can round out a solid top 4, add some cheaper but physical guys for the 3rd pairing and with Demko in net this could be a hard team to score on.
All the pieces are there, we just need to add more scoring to the top 6, preferably someone good on the PP, because that was what did us in, we couldn't score a timely pp goal, a 4 minute pp and no shots is inexcusable.

I nonstop heard people bash him saying "he only got that because san jose is so bad and someone had to get the points" and then when zach hyman got 50, people said "well he's on a good team with mcdavid of course he's going to get 50!". My thought, 100 points is 100 points, and 50 goals is 50 goals, no matter the team. Very similar scenarios are all over hockey.

In a perfect world I'd like to see the following: Let Hronek go and go hard for Tanev. Move Cole and bring in Juulsen. Move Mikheyev and go hard for Toffoli. Try to keep Lindholm and play him with Petey and Lekkermaki. Cross your fingers and hope Brock's blood issue clears up and play him with J.T. and Toffoli. Third line stays the same as it was before Dakota's injury so you have him, Garland and Blueger. Fourth line could be flexible with Aman, Podz, Hoglander, and maybe Karlsson, Raty, and Suter and Bains slotting in and out during the season. Blue line, in my perfect world, would be Quinn and Tanev, Meyers and Soucy, Zadarov and Juulsen with Friedman, McWard, Petey two and Willander slotting in and out as a 7th d-man. Demko and Silovs in net. I would imagine there will be tons of criticisms of my off season moves and I haven't factored in the cap, but as an off handed daydream, it would be my dream off season.

nobody really expected us to go this far!!! This is a huge Victory for the Canucks....and the Management (and a lot of smart fans) knows it!!
We have a 5-6 year exciting window here ( Miller in his prime, Future Hall Of Fame Defenceman/Captain Quinn Hughes entering his prime years, and could be blessed with the best 1 -2 goalie punch in the league in Demko & Silovs.(could Trade one for an elite winger....like Nylander)
I do believe young Hot Potato Petey will mature, beef out a bit, and will come out of his funk. Let's face it, we all know this wasn't physical...the kid in Petey couldn't handle the pressure...and like all great athletes say ....failure is one of life's greatest teachers...he'll be fine. (and once he gets talented wingers who can score he'll start cookin:) ...case in point the beautiful breakaway dish he served to PDG who failed to finish)
If Management can make the right moves in the next 5-6 years...this team will have a chance for playoffs each year of those possible 6, maybe 7 seasons; barring no major injuries.
this is good news and good times we're starting!!....

I was never hyped on the Pettersson contract, I think he dragged it out and wasn't producing near the end of the process. I know if we got rid of him we would have like a 70% chance of regretting it though. I hope he gets his head straight and maybe builds a bit more muscle because he got bullied in the playoffs.
Would love to keep Joshua of course, especially for his physicality but Garland will work hard no matter who he plays with and we could maybe get a good trade for Joshua. For the right price I think it would be nice to keep Myers who is pretty decent when he's playing well and with Big Z it really boosts our team's size. Hronek would be ok to keep I think for the right price because he can produce.
But I will say this now, I wonder about Demko's knee/s, this is the third time he's had a knee injury according to Fox Sports and I just wonder if we could go with Silovs and maybe swing a big trade for Demko.

Vancouver is in for a tough year next year. Everyone knows Vancouver is a great team now. Teams will be ready for a competitive game. It’s ALWAYS hardest to make the playoffs a second season in a row. It will be interesting to see their offseason moves. The good news is they have an elite spine- 1C, 1D, and 1G with top forward in JT Miller to support the offense.
What will help Vancouver is LA will likely regress as they blindly try to hold serve with a system that is passive. Calgary likely retools. Seattle is a wildcard to me as they have a great mix of veterans and youngsters. Ducks and sharks aren’t likely to make the big jump although Anaheim is also a wildcard. Vegas is dynamite. Edmonton is great.

If they could resign Lindholm and Joshua you could have a top 6 of Petterson, Miller, Boeser - Joshua, Lindholm and Garland.
They’d have guys like Suter, Hoglander, Podkolzin and Aman on the bottom 6 - if they could add a guy with good size for the 3rd and 4th lines then I’d like their chances again next year.
On Defense, if they could sign Hronek to something reasonable and bring back Zadorov, they would just need to replace Myers (who I would let go. He was here for 5 years and I think we saw what he brings when not in a contract year.)
In net, Demko and Silovs would be amazing.
That leaves them having to pay someone to take Mikayev; but they’ve done that before….
I’d really like to see them get more size up front to play the way they want to.
Admirable season for sure, not the finish they wanted - I really felt like they could beat any team and had potential to go all the way. These last two games felt like a wasted opportunity no one knew they’d have…

I think Myers and Zadorov will stay, especially since Mysey has had his best showing under the Tocchet system. Fighting to keep Lindy will be tough but he made our Playoffs this year. Also I say give Mikheyev until next trade deadline.
