  • In this tutorial, I will show you how you can make this entire coffee shop scene using nothing but the Adobe Substance 3D Ecosystem. I will be using Substance 3D Stager, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Sampler, Substance 3D Modeler, and the Substance 3D Asset Library.

      You didn't like our old method of gathering 30 people in a room and all staring at a screen asking each other if objects were penetrating each other?

    Thank you for such a great tutorial. I really like that you open the elements and share the layer breakdowns of how you build out each element and how the effects are used to achieve specific looks.

    Just got laid off as a lighter, feels like I have joined a massive community of artists in the same boat. Thank you for producing this content to keep some of us sane while working on something fun! Haven't used substance before so looking forward to digging in to this.

    errmm not to be weird but I feel like I have some weird sort of student on teacher crush on you LOOOL You're so smart and you explain everything so nicely. Other Adobe substance tutorials I've seen is just a lot of empty talking, so thank you so much for this! A bunch of tutorials on Adobe substance and you're the only one who does it well

    I hope they would consolidate all the different programs into one.

    • @michaeltanzillo
      @michaeltanzillo  4 місяці тому

      That probably won't be happening. Each software has it's own codebase and UI that would be too jumbled and cumbersome to have them all in one package.

      @@michaeltanzillo Blender, which I understand is a different program altogether has everything in one place. I think that It can done.

      @@IvyPlans It's definitley possible. Blender is brillant piece of software. It truly is. So good for individual creators to have one place to do everything. And it does everything well and corporate sponsored so totally free for users...yay!
      But for studio pipelines, they are generally looking for the tools that do each component of the pipeline the best. So here is a general flow.
      Modeling -> Zbrush / Maya / Blender
      Procedural Shaders -> Substance Designer
      Texture Application -> Substance Painter
      FX -> Houdini
      Animation -> Maya / Blender
      Lighting & Rendering - Maya/Katana/Houdini
      Compositing - Nuke
      Etc.
      And each role is generally done by a different individual
      So the thought is, why create a tool with everything in it if you are just going to be using it for individual tasks? Instead, Substance can make the UI perfect for that task and streamline all the tools and functions in that software. Then, if you make it easy to pass assets between tools, that's the best of both worlds!
      So like you said...a little apples and oranges but just a slightly different philosophy.
      Either way...both have the same goal of making beautiful images and that is what we are here to do!

    Let's say I took a picture from my phone and want to use it as a texture inside designer.
    (*A tile texture that I wanna tile with grouts)
    How do I do that?
    Will I use the same process that u used for the logo.
    Or is there a different way.

      For me, I would generally use Sampler for creating any materials based on photographs. Designer is more for any material authoring done from scratch.
      Sampler is just so good at easily processing a photograph into a tileable texture that I would start there.
      Now…if you want to use your photograph as a reference and build up something from scratch in Designer…go for it! That would work too
