Van Halen has always been the ultimate live rock-n-roll band!
I was at both of these concerts in New Haven Connecticut. Every time I saw them live they were better than on the albums.

The cool thing about Van Halen with Sammy is that Ed and Alex finally got to write and play with a singer that they liked. Before with Roth, they made great music but Eddie couldn't stand Roth. You see in this concert that Eddie is pretty happy to be there with Sammy.
But he eventually hated Sammy as well.

When I saw this concert in Roanoke Virginia for the 1st time I had no idea they were going to incorporate Sammy Hagar songs and they started off with Only 1 way to rock I was fired up Originally but even more after that
people sleep on how good of a guitarist Sammy is. He wrote the first song ONLY ONE WAY TO ROCK.
I believe they opened the show with You Really Got Me. When they released live shows back then, they were usually edited. Removing some songs.
I think they also did Good Enough which did not appear on the LWaN video, unfortunately.
You really got me was the opening song the four times I saw them in 86 but I didn't hear good enough. Maybe they played it later in the tour

Sammy picked up a top notch new band
We have all seen the movie Twister. What many don't know is during the closing credits is an instrumental performed by Eddie and Alex called "Respect the Wind." It's definitely worth a listen and similar to Stevie Ray's tribute to Jimmy Hendrix. Yes, the ghosts keep coming out of the closet.
Remember this band was a live band at easy who went into the studio and laid down a live performance on their albums....a little tweeking and off we go.
Unfortunately this stream got blocked at the second song. But Mugs is working to get a better set up. He's started the stream again on the other channels above

Hey Mug, been a minute since I popped by. Busy with life, bro. Glad to see you getting into the "Van Hagar" stuff. Sammy Hagar has a rabbit hole all his own to go down, starting with an early 70's underrated band called Montrose, then a nice solo career before ever joining VH. He made them a super group and their popularity reached heights they never did with David Lee Roth, commercially. I like this version of Van Halen, but it's got nothing on the DLR era, in my opinion. The reason we loved them was their don't give a fuck, party attitude. Sammy is more of a happy party guy where everyone is invited, even Yacht Rockers. lol

Definitely Rush should be your next deep dive. For me Van Halen and Rush are the two best bands in history. Rush is technically probably the most talented band ever assembled. Van Halen the best swing and overall my favourite ever. Led Zeppelin top 3 also. Obviously this is my opinion so no hate. lol

Dammit man! What’s up with that anyways? If you’re going to do live shows then definitely have to do Can Halen US Festival 1983. They broke world record for most money paid for a single performance. For a band. David Bowie also got the same amount .
