Been using Oxygen for 2 years and I'm done with it. Tired of working around the bugs, buying 3rd party plugins to bypass bugs, waiting months and months for updates (most of which don't fix any bugs), and developing Breakdance in secret for 3 years rather than rebuilding Oxygen was the final slap. Bricks, on the other hand, is fast, has a roadmap ( so you can plan development), fixes bugs, drops massive updates just about every month, has a custom-built framework, and the Dev actually LISTENS. After Bricks 1.5 drops, I'm never touching Oxygen again in my life, and by the end of the year, Bricks will likely have all of the functionality of Oxygen without any of the headaches. Rant over lol
@@smeagoltheunrealdeviant9357 Personally I’ve experienced a lot of bugs in Bricks to the point where I’d much rather remain with Oxygen for a few more versions from Bricks
Where I am a bit confused is the whole notion that there needs to be a "switch"... why not use both? I am thinking of it from the perspective of where some websites don't need anything fancy, which builder is going to be the fastest to build with less code tinkering etc. I use elementor and oxygen, and I don't think there would be a problem if I added Bricks to the mix. We don't need to be hyper-focused on one builder IMO.
I suggest you try Bricks again as this comparison is outdated now. In fairness, If you want to see some compelling reasons to still use Oxygen, check out the comparison by "Design with Cracka" as his is current.
The only problem I have with Bricks is the buggy editor right now. Don’t know if you experience the same but. Copy-Paste does not happen sometimes, adding elements sometimes do not appear or appear at the bottom of the DOM. I often reload the editor to fix these temporary issues. Otherwise I think it’s the best builder. It still needs some time for refinement
There are some major inconveniences with Bricks for now compared to Oxygen, but that can also be a positive. For such functions as setting conditions for an example, Bricks forces me to use PHP instead of a simple UI like in Oxygen. By using PHP (or JS, CSS, whatever) instead of just clicking buttons on a pretty UI, we actually learn something and get a better understanding of how our websites work. That, and Bricks is well documented and has a great community to help out.
Thank you Cory for this great video. I am considering when I should move to Bricks from Oxygen. I hope you can continue to compare these two great builders each other from time to time whenever there has been updates.
Bricks definitely has a usability aspect to it that Oxygen is lacking. Performance-wise though, I'm able to get comparable very fast speeds with either builder out of the gate
Did you by any chance report any of the issues to bricks forum you spoke about including the code editor issue? I think this will ensure the dev is aware and address expeditiously, since the dev is very responsive to users.
Oh no, another comparison Oxygen / Bricks gossip column video. Question - Why should anyone care whether you're going to be switching from Oxygen to Bricks or not? You're just another small time, free UA-cam account holder with nothing but an opinion to offer. Don't you think there are enough of these irrelevant channels around already, without adding another? Maybe if you had built a page builder of your own, or perhaps designed some useful plug-ins, I'd be inclined to listen / value what you have to say. I'm not interested in the opinions of a small time end user, who doesn't even know how to code
Wow someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed... Interesting that you took the time to not only give a non-constructive criticism, but also to try bring someone else down. I suggest taking some time with yourself and work through any inner issues you might have... For what it's worth, there's nothing wrong with people sharing their opinions and experiences, other people want to see that kind of content.
@@ezyderaaf - I liked UA-cam back when knowledgeable professionals shared content of importance with others. I'm fed up with wasting my time looking at gossip columns like this one, where the host thinks he is bigger than the product and has nothing to offer than a lousy opinion. If you're fine with viewing this kind of garbage, then that's your weak minded choice, so you go ahead and like and subscribe to it. Separately, you have no clue as to my mental state of mind, nor which side of the bed I exit it from, so my advice to you, the next time you feel the need to reply to a derogatory comment is to have an open mind - actually read what has been written, evaluate it, compare the opinion to your views and then write a balanced response. Too many snowflakes like yourself these days focus on the context, rather than the content - sorry if I hurt your feelings sweetie
Lost job, bf slapped you or cheated on you? Chill, don't like this? Spend your time somewhere else. Constructive criticism is welcome, not the BS you just spilled.
About two months from now, Bricks will have overcome at least 50% or more of the downsides you've presented. I've learned to just work around the things I've found successfully. I too, tried Oxygen for awhile and it had some real problems that no one there was willing to even acknowledge. Then Breakdance showed up and was extremely annoying. It can't be used with Bricks -- it just freezes up. One of the nice things about Bricks is that you can use calc(15px + 0.390625vw) for optimizing responsive font sizes. It really works! My websites are at least responsive. Again, wait awhile. It won't be long. Just how long will we have to wait for Breakdance to have an official release?
Oh you’re absolutely right. Bricks will soon be significantly better than oxygen in every way. Breakdance will take a long time to catch up, and oxygen will fade into the Background. At the moment there are issues with all of them (and there always will be) but Im focused on where the products are “right now” and how they’d be if I built a site with them today.
@@CoryBolles That makes sense from a functional commercial perspective -- we can't live on the promise of the future. It's nice to look ahead and plan, though so we don't lose in the long run. After researching (and spending lots of money) all sorts of web builders and editors for 2.5 years, I finally settled into Bricksbuilder after 6 months of using it. The alternative was to build from scratch using CSS and html (I came very close), but fortunately Bricks has some impressive website speed test scores and can be used to make absolutely stunning websites.
@@theplaintech Couldn't agree more; I just finished a very high end website build with Bricks and apart from some issues (mainly migrating from 1.4 to 1.5) it performed great!

Hi Cory, Thanks for your insight. Its good to see you back!

As a non-tech guy, bricks builder is much easier to achieve great speed performance. It has a huge market for WordPress users.

That’s an excellent point; I’ll make sure to check that each of these issues have been noted by the devs, thanks!

First time hearing about this font size method, I mostly use the font-size: 62.5% and clamp() for text, but this got my attention, I need to try it.
