Thank you for those kind words David. I`m trying to get some more videos done soon. I`ve been away from videoing for a little while as I became a dad towards the end of last year, so I`ve had the camera away for a while. Should have some training run vidoes up over the coming months and hopefully some proper racing when things get a little closer to normal.
Hey Paul. Great to see this. Can't believe you've run 58 of them! Well done. I ran this as my first maraton and I'm still hobbling a week later. In the heat it took a lot out of people. However, I'll be back for more when all settles down. Really enjoyed the film. Cheers, Nick
Thank you Nick. Yes that heat was tough going, probably the toughest conditions I`ve run in. Well done on your first marathon. They aren`t all that hard going I can assure you!!! Best wishes in your recovery.
Thanks Paul. Quick question if i may. In your considerable experience, what sort of time do you think was added because of the heat? I think in your 2016 video you said you ran it in about 4.20.00 or there abouts, whereas 2017 was around the 5hr mark. Do you think that was due to the heat? And would it be reasonable to take 30-40 mins off my own time if i run another one in cooler temperatures? Cheers, Nick.
Hi Nick. I would say around 30 minutes extra due to the heat certainly. I ran with a friend of mine and we took a decision beforehand to take it a bit easier from the start, plus we did take extra time at the aid stations to take on extra fluids. I`ve run it four times now with times of 4:48, 4:20, 4:20 and 5:03. I know a fair few people who ran it and were well down on their usual times. It always seems to be pretty hot whenever I do it, but yes I would say 30 mins off is a decent target for a cooler day.
Enjoyable. To watch. I'm in training for my first marathon -- the New Forest in September (IF?) -- and your epic movies are great motivation.

Much appreciated, cheers.
I watch your videos and you've met me loads of times!!!
And I still haven't got you on film yet!!
Yes you have. Last year at the Arun River Marathon when I died.
Ah yes I remember that now. Transvulcania legs.
