She was the only one that I never heard before this season started. You mentioned that you can understand a few dutch words, well to make it even more complicated she wasn't singing in Dutch, but a lower saxon dialect. The original singer (Bökkers) sings in dialect, so the fact that she sings in his dialect made it even more special.
Original singer is Jovink
For me she is the biggest surprise os this season. What a talented lady
I'm watching because of Anneke, but Karsu is starting to be my favourite.
Even though I started watching for ANNEKE, KARSU seems to be the reason I’m staying. Her voice is so unique and rich. And her take on songs is so interesting.
Karsu is certainly very talented. She played Carnegie Hall when she was 17 and she is a huge star in Turkey, but also big in the Netherlands. As other people have already suggested: please listen to "Hijo de la luna" which she sings beautifully in Spanish for Belle Perez.
You have to check out Karsu's latest "Hijo De La Luna" for Belle Perez. Also a must is Anneke's English version of Perez's, "Sobreviviré". It is quite emotional.
Yes Yes Yes, goosebumps!!! So very beautifull. Please a react video about that song 😊
Absolutely! And anneke's jest oldu is also amazing
Hi Valerie, her version of Hijo De La Luna in Beste Zangers 2021 is amazing, Spanish song with Turkish vibes. And do not forget her songperformance of Hollywood Seven. Also Anneke van Giersbergen with the English version of Sobrevivire is highly recommended. Last but not least Annekes cover version of Endless Road. Finally Roel Van Velzen with his version of Listen to the Man with the Golden Voice and Flamish girl Belle Perez with Spanish roots and her songperformance of Specialized in You.
Yes. both a very good choice, especially the translated version to English by Anneke. I hope Valerie has some time to react to those. I would be very pleased.
She's singing in his dialect. She had to learn it but everybody she called talled her to ask Hendrik Jan (rhe guy she's singing at). She couldn't say why Hendrik Jan was not the one to help her. At last someone told her to call Freek (from the duo Suzan and Freek of last season) because his dialect is very simular. So he thought Karsu how to pronounce the words.
This song is about a speed devil being an asshole on the road just for the thrill of it. An de kant means move over. Sung in a regional language that sounds very robust to the Dutch ear it's extra funny! She really captures its spirit & I love it 😁
There are amazing singers again this season but Karsu is the big surprise for me!!! She is amazing!
I am Dutch and never heard of Karsu. But she blew me away with "Hijo De La Luna". So I had to listen to all here performances done in Beste Zangers and I love her energy and voice.
They speak this dialect about 50km from where I live/was born. It is really hard to understand for me. The Netherlands has many strong dialects. In this episode where Bökkers has the focus, a few people translate his songs in dialect to their own local dialects. But Karsu from Amsterdam (who usually sings in Turkish, Dutch, or English) decided to master his dialect with great success.
Karsu is the only one to really sing in the different language of the spot guest, I wonder if we will hear someone sing Turkish this season though
@@digitool5944we did! ^^
This is a song about defiance, about living in the moment, about forgetting all of societies restrictions (in traffic) and just doing things intuitively. It is not in Dutch but in "Westfaals" (Westphalian), a Lower Saxon dialect that strongly influenced the Scandinavian languages but in The Netherlands was mostly pushed out by "offical" Dutch!:
Lyrics + English translation:
('k stap in mien wagen, 'k heb goeie zin)
I get in my car, I'm in a good mood.
(Ik loat 't lekker spoken;'k ri-j oaveral tegenin)
I'm letting loose, going against everything.
('t Rooie stoplicht dat haal ik nog net)
The red light I barely make it
('k Gef zoveel gas da'k 't remmen verget)
I'm giving so much gas that I forget to brake
(Alle rontondes die nem ik linksum)
All roundabouts I take them counterclockwise
(Dat vin'k zo mooi, ik wet zelf niet woarum)
I like that so much, I don't know why
(Ik zie een drempel, dat is mien kans)
I see a speed bump, that is my chance
(Ik swing um veurbi-j die langzame zwans)
I swing by him that slow schmuck
(An de kant! An de kant!)
Out of the way! Out of the way!
(Oh, 'k rem niet veur dieren, want ik rem nooit)
Oh, I don't brake for animals, because I never brake
('k heb al zien leaven al tied zat verknooid)
I have during life already wasted enough time
(Alle polities die daag ik uut)
All police I challenge them
(Want ik krieg een kick van't sirenegeluud)
because I get a kick out of the sound of the siren
(Ik kiek in de spiegel, ze kommen mien noa)
I look in the mirror, they are following me
(Ze goat dezelfde kant uut die ik ook goa)
They are going the same way that I go
(Hahaaa ik stroop mien mouwen op)
Hahaaa I roll up my sleeves
(Mien harte pomt, want ik ri-j op kop)
My heart is pumping, cause I'm in the lead
(An de kant! An de kant!)
Out of the way! Out of the way!
(De eerste vief wagens die bun ik zo kwiet)
The first five cars I've lost them in a jiffy
(Moar dan ken i-j die wouten nog niet)
But than you don't know about them coppers
('t Bunt net mieren; ze blieven moar kommen)
They are like ants, they keep on coming
(Ik schakel terug. Potverdomme!)
I shift back. What the hell!)
(An de kant! An de kant!)
Out of the way! Out of the way!
Just one comment, you're supposed to take the roundabout counterclockwise
@@MrsMijnNaamIsAnoniem Haha, you are sharp. Funny that no one noticed this before. Maybe I should have replaced it with "I take them going the wrong way" or "against the flow of traffic". Anyhow thanks for the correction.
@@wilcoschipstal6417 May I suggest you use the eminently suitable English word "Widdershins" for it?
I must say this season beste zangers is great again! ( last year it just didnt move me so much and ofcourse beste zangers 2019 with floor was the best) this dutch lady which turkish roots is also a pleasant surprise singing a song with the typical dutch dialect/slang of the guy on the couch( killerperformance )
The thing is, she covers the song an de kant, which is a dutch song in dialect. Which she doesnt speak, and she nailed it.
This is the beauty of Beste Zangers, even for me as a dutchman, Karsu who i did not knew before is a pleasant surprise.
But also the young man, Joe Buck really has a very good voice.
Last thursday Anneke did it again, i've had chickenskin all over when she sang a translated version of Sobrevivirė, so beautifull and i've heard something in her voice which i had not heard before.
Thanks for the reaction Valerie. :)
😂 chickenskin
Hijo de la Luna - Karsu. Your mind will be blown!
This was so much fun, thanks so much for this reaction! I really like her style 👍🌷🌷❤️
Honestly I didn’t know who she is 😂but until last night I watched the Humberto shows and I just wow who is she? Google her UA-cam her 😂😂😂and I found this song An de kant ,I am just totally in love with her voice and her character 🥰 and I searched this song in the original that made me wow my hands down this version is totally different from the original 😱 OMG LOVE HER 😍
Hi Valerie.. so what about Karsu ... isnt she something, something awesome! hehehe
Others already mentioned she sings this in a tricky dialect but i rather point out her singing itself, a certain raw yet clean sound that attracts attention in seconds.
Like most Dutch people.. i had no idea who she was prior to the show, our Turkish/Dutch friends knew her well, but we did not and i am ever so happy that we now do know who she is and what she has to offer. I think she's amazing and every song she gave us so far has been gold.
Also mentioned by others, her cover of one of the most beautiful Spanish hits from the 80's, original by a band called "Mecano" and that song is "Hijo de la Luna".
Not only is it a beautiful song, i think it's one of those "singer songs", it has a sad but beautiful story and the flow of the vocal lines just seem a joy to sing. (Maybe something for you and your students?)
Thnx for the react Valerie :D
Karsu is on fireee🔥🔥🔥💖
This season of 'Beste Zangers' is very good , high quality and surprising. Karsu is my favourite, as she is so very versatile . In this song she sings in Sallands, which is a Saxon dialect , spoken in the east of the Netherlands .
Very funny that you think of Lisa Minelli, because Karsu is mentioning her in the show when she was performing in Carnegie Hall.
She is amazing.
Utterly brilliant. I was waiting for a back flip off the table without missing a note to end it all!!
On another note, there are a lot of Beste Zangers spin offs in Europe run by the same company.. wikipedia has the full run down Another brilliant metal performer, Jennifer Haben from Beyond the Black was on the German version.. sing meinen song in 2018.
I'm American been a fan of Karsu's for a few years , so happy for her growing success !
Go Val! Im watching every video from now on🔥
Our best Karsu❤️
Awesome that you're reacting to Karsu:-)
New discovery for me as well:-)
OMG Yesterday Karsu was very impressive again with Alides Hiddings song Hollywood Seven.
'An de kant' means 'outta my way' (in HendrikJan' Bökkers' eastern dialect language ), sung in a slightly different way than HJ's blues/roots rock genre
Karsu is an amazing singer indeed. I had never heard of her before.
My favorites on this program this year are Joe Buck (the blonde a bit shy singer/songwriter) and strangely enough Belle Perez (she's the Belgian/Spanish singer with the high pitched voice) so I would definitely recommend listening to some of their songs.
I say strangely because I didn't really like her songs about a decade ago.
Anyway. Nice reaction.
you must see Karsu's Hijo de luna version too😍
Great choice, Valerie. To me Karsu is the revelation of this years season of "Beste Zangers". I've never heard of her before, but I know one thing, " This girl has a bright future in front of her".👌 Here are the translated Lyrics.
"Pull Over"
I get into my car, I'm in a good mood
I'll let it haunt me, I'll drive everywhere
I can just make the red traffic light
I give it so much gas that I forget to brake
All the roundabouts I take to the left
That's what I like about it, I don't know why.
I see a threshold, that's my chance
I'm going to turn that slow swan around
Pull over!
I don't brake for animals because I never brake
I've wasted all my life
All the police I've challenged
I get a kick out of the siren noise
I look in the mirror, they come at me
They're going in the same direction I'm going
Hahaaa I roll up my sleeves
My heart is pumping Cause I'm in the lead
On the side
-----------
Let them come, the gas is on the board
I'll kick it through the boajem lord
Let them come, the gas is on the way
I'm lubricating my wagon
The first five cars I can't find
But then I don't know the cops.
They're like ants; they just keep on coming.
I shift back. Holy shit
Pull over
-----------
Now I really get going
My good fortune is: I'm never afraid
The drawbridge has just gone up
She sees me fly like a leaf out of a tree
I'll go high, but not that high
The wagon thunders on its head
I climb up on shore with the steering wheel in my hand
Smiling and waving to the other side
-------------
The bridge is going down, but I won't let her know me
She catches up with me when she runs away
"Oh, Mr. Jovink It's good to see you
Have you got a sticker for me?"
-------------
@@user-HD4891 You might be right, the best translation would be: "Get Out of My Way" or simply "F#*k Off", it's just that I don't want to use foul language in my comments. "Pull Over", makes it instandly clear to all, without hurting anyones feelings.
@@guidoheuts Nice, but the meaning is very different. "Get out of my way" is the right translation because she wants everybody out of her way when she is speeding. "Pull over" is something what the police would say, not her. And why is "Get out of my way" offensive? The translation contains some steenkolen Engels (pardon the expression). But still a very nice afford. Hope you are not offended by my reaction. 😊
She is also a chef. She is good, makes me think of Bertold Brecht. Raw and fantastic.
She has a cooking show on 24kitchen
'Potverredomme' is a curse word. Is was fantastic!!!
Please react to Hijo de la Luna by Karsu and Sobrevivere by Anneke van Giersbergen from the last show. Absolutely wonderful, both songs.
Karsu and Joe Buck are this season impressive!
Karsu is my fav
Beste zangers Roel v Velzen must waths!!
Yes! Please comment Hijo de la luna!
Enchanting. Mindblowing.
You should react to Karsu's first song.
MOVE OVER! Hot damn!
An de kant = something in the order of : Pull over to the side of the road! 'Out of my way' as al lws stated.
This was even a dialect in Dutch. Fantastic
Karsu is amazing!
For the contrast, listen to her singing 'From now on'. It's like she's a different singer.
Jovink goes USA. Wie had dat ooit verwacht.
kim seokjin king of high notes
Can you react to Anneke van Giersbergen - Sobrevivirė | Beste Zangers 2021 ? It's one of Anneke's best songs thusfar :). Karsu - Hijo de la luna is also great :)
Don't worry, most Dutch people strain their ears to understand what she sings, great job at singing in a dialect you are not familiar with, she trained a lot to do it right.
Anneke van Giersbergen - Jest Oldu | Beste Zangers 2021

Please add turkish subtitles
pls react to the iranian song Divoonegi by Sirvan Khosravi ,🌧⛵🌊
The third season? No, it is probably the 15th season or something@
It's my 3rd season following the show. I know it's been around for some time. :)
Ohhh I wish you would understand the lyrics, it's hilarious.
hi .... dear ,pls react to the iranian song🍁 Hastamo Nistam 🍁 ,by Googoosh ,🌲🌲🍁🍂
she sings "get out of the way" and about that the police are after her.. that doesn't end well 😏.
This is the original song ua-cam.com/video/QY1yWAlLQ90/v-deo.html
she doesn't even speak this language, she asked around from other singers from the east of the Netherlands who speak Low Saxon, though everyone recommended her to learn from Bökkers (the guy in the spot), eventually she convinced Freek who took part last year to coach her with the language
She sings in the FRIEZEN LANGUAGES. I’M DUTCH , BUT I DON’T UNDERSTAND HER. !
No she is not. She is singing Sallands which is a Nedersaksisch (Lower saxon) dialect in the same familie as Achterhoeks, Twents, Drents and Gronings. It's not even close to being Fries (frisian)
