You are too old to play with toys.
@xmuta FTR I dont play with toys BUT even beyond that, I''m too old to give two fcks what some random person on the Internet has to say.
Thanks for watching
the way you talk about your son and both your toy store experiences together you're an excellent dad
Thank you!
I got burnt out toy hunting over the last couple of years I just grab figs off amazon since they usually go on sale
Online is better
I had my first son , in 1997' so that's when I started looking for things for him, and I never stopped lol I couldn't get things as a child but now I'm blessed with enough cash flow
All really good points man. Honestly, sometimes I feel the same way. I used to hunt all the time, but nowadays it’s become just casual like if me and my wife just happen to be at Target shopping for stuff. It’s true for me too that about 85-90% of the stuff I get is online anyway. Love your videos man. Great takes.🙏
These are the type of videos I actually appreciate. It's just a simple conversation about your experiences with toy collecting. And then you talk about how you got started your personal life and where you at with it now. Is the same thing that Uncle Tim used to do when I first started listening to him. And I told him I like these spice of life videos and he started doing those. Everyone is reviewing toys to the point where it's not really that exciting anymore. But it's fun to talk about my collection with people who actually collect. But it's even more fun to show off my collection to people who have no idea that grown men actually collect toys😂😂😂😂. And it's even more fun when women are just met come over to my house and see it's full of toys but it's set up in an adult way. And you'll be surprised how many black women in Chicago don't even know how much fun a grown man collecting toys can actually be until they actually meet a grown man collecting toys.
Chicago stand up!
Yeah presentation is everything. If you present your stuff in an adult way it looks more like art than toys.
And yeah I will try to have videos like this on Saturdays
Thanks for watching
I miss those years too. Me and my son would go to all those Lego and Pokemon and Transformer events TRU would do. It feels like yesterday. Now he's graduating high school and TRU is gone and walking past a toy aisle for me is like walking past a cemetary.
I understand
I've been collecting since the mid-90s, when I decided to continue buying comic book figures even though I was no longer "a kid" I stopped doing toy hunts in the mid-2000s, when it first became possible to buy cases online. I've spot checked stores ever since, but online is my way to go. You're fortunate to have your children appreciate the hobby, mine can care less....lol!
The toy hunt is dead.
Scalpers get all the good stuff instantly as the store opens most of the time...
Lol You're probably right
Sad but true
Wow! We share an almost exact origin story in becoming a toy collector. MP-1 was my gateway. But then Marvel Legends got me full blown collecting action figures.
Is it just me or is your video beautifully lit? Like, sunlight(?), the wall color, art, your shirt, idk it all just comes together somehow and satisfies my brain
@@loganpark2530 lol thanks! It could be the natural sunlight.
Im a 45 yr old G1 fanatic and I didn't know MP existed till 2016. It blew my mind but ive been collecting the SS86 Line ever since
I guess im a triple OG since i started collecting mcfarlane spawn and toybiz marvel legends in the late 80's early 90's . The game defintely has changed from the early years . Hunting was dying even when tru was open a few years before it closed because they werent getting any new stock . Walmart held it dowm for awhile ,never really hunted in Target at all . Now ,the cupboards are bare everywhere i dont even bother to go thru the toy section anymore it pisses me off . Now ,as far as these new collecters ,i never wiped out a peg full of figs ,never hid a toy in another dept ,that kind of stuff just dont cross my mind at all ,i have honor in everything i do . I preorder ,but i hate it because jalf the fun of collecting was the hunt and finding something cool you didnt expect . The game is artificial now ,im wrapping up my collection and about to stop .
I do it outta' fun just to kill time between things like grocery shopping, paying bills etc. I was buying online but that took the spirit away out of taking the weekend after a long week of work to go hunt. I do get it about the toy aisles themselves, but most kids today are paying attention to devices for the most part. Then there's collector spots like in Target & Walmart where you know mostly its adults looking. Funkos, NECA from whatever era and imports. It's just how ya' approach it. If online skipping the hassle and wasted gas then sure. Or out because you're on vacation and the group chat your in spotted something you like then go for it. Toy hunting's a hobby, don't let a few instances stop the fun 👍
Just do online now. Mainly collect older figures I couldn’t get as a kid. Big fan of video game characters. Only modern toy line I collect is the JoyToy Warhammer figures. Picked up 2 mythic legions as well
I order a lot from Amazon but I do really enjoy buying toys at the store. Its not like I'm there just for the toys, I'm buying other stuff for the house, I'm gonna hit the toy aisle and the collector spot for sure. The kid story has happened to me twice but they were both teens. One at Wal-Mart. One at Gamestop. I feel extremely weird talking to ANYBODY out in public that I dont know but whatever.
Great video and storytelling, looking forward to other videos✌
I've gotten to the point where I really dislike going to the stores as well. But it's mainly because content creators talk about certain stores so much that if you go to the store it's never going to be there. I used to love going to Ross 20 years ago. But now it's gotten so popular within the last year or so that you're not going to find anything at Ross. I collect GI Joe classified but certain things you can only get at Target or Walmart. And now with this new vehicle the tiger paw it's not even available online. And every single store in the Chicagoland area says that is either unavailable or out of stock. It's like they're forcing you to go to the store to ask these people if they have in the back. But the only thing they do is look at the app that says that it's out of stock or unavailable and tell you they don't have it. They don't even check anymore. 🤦🏾♂️. So I hate talking to people that work at the store when I feel like they're not going to help me anyway. And it's probably because a lot of grown ass men being in the store arguing with them 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah you'd be surprised, they probably get asked a million times a day if they have something.
Yeah going to stores it sucks when they don’t have what you looking for . Now is even worst ordering from line just to preorder because they out🤦🏽♂️.
See I don't mind doing toy hunts. I love going to the store and buying something off the shelves since it's exciting to me. I recently got into seriously collecting Transformers figures in August 2023, and man it's been rough. I want to say like most of my collection is ordering stuff online since I can't find it in stores. For example, Studio Series Bumblebee movie Shockwave was supposed to be released in April of 2024 but I didn't start seeing him on store shelves until mid July. I got him in the store but Studio Series Bumblebee movie Megatron who I saw once in stores in late July early August, finally, and he released way back in February. I preordered him on Halloween of 2023 and I'm glad because I would have gotten him so late. And what sucks is that I'll see them once and I'll never see it again. So for me I like finding figures in stores but waiting months for a specific figure only to never see it in store shelves is discouraging, and it's a waste of gas money to drive all this way only to find nothing. I'm currently focusing on my G1 collection, and I'm looking for Legacy United Autobot Gears, but I can't find him. Even though he was released in March or April of this year, he's impossible to find in stores and I refuse to pay $40 for him on eBay. (He's $25 in retail)
I see gears everytime I go to Target
@@domls1317 Man I wish I had that luck! I can never find him at Target though I always go late at night after work so that's probably why LOL!
Hunting is 90% of the fun! 21 years later, leaving Snake Eyes and Timber on the shelf, like an idiot, still makes me angry!
Damn lol
The only problem with Ollie's is they have a whole bunch of the exact same figure. You would have 30 of one figure on the shelf. My local Ollie's have that one black panther line. But the entire aisle is those same five figures. And it's like 150 agent Carter's 🤦🏾♂️. Anything worth picking up is gone because content creators talk about him so much that all the scalpers/ collectors frequent the place every day until they get it. So by the time I get there there is nothing on the shelf that even hinted that anything new was there. If I don't catch the guy in loading the shelves I'm not going to find anything
Lol that's true
UA-camrs, even me, definitely blew the spot 🤦🏾♂️
I was a hunter. Since 1989. I shopped Hills and Targets old glory days. Then walmart ruined everything
Thanks for watching
So cool. I don't hunt anymore, l order online bc l hate missing out on the figs l want. And in this area Walmart has removed Mac figs, but a few are starting to display again after none all summer.
Talking about your kids growing up fast got me thinking! I am about your age but my boys are 2 and 5 months old and they are already getting big fast. I know the time will go quickly. Already got the older one collecting ninja turtles, cars, and some DC/marvel figures. Great video. I still hunt from time to time, but if its online, then I'm always gonna grab it there first. Too damn old to be driving to all these stores, lol
Too old and gas cost too damn much 🤣😭
Dont Bother never find anything much less any eals empty isles. If I do find anything it is something already gotten shipped to house. If in a Walmart Ollies target or anything that carries toys walk thru a toy isle 1 min look and keep going unless something I want. The Only Thing bought in a store last year has been GI JOE Classified Tiger Paw due to missing preorder
4:55 dang, toynk?? That's what I often have to *_filter out_* when searching on the target app. 😅 this is probably the first time I heard of their brick & mortar location.
13:53 but MP01 was/is 1/24 scale. So were the binaltech/alternators. I stumbled into them after finding out about MPP10 (the OSKO) and then backtracked picking up those figs because they matched the M.A.S.K. toys from the 80s, and I had most of the M.A.S.K. line as a kid. I even was picking up some of the human alliance stuff, because of their scale and variety of similarly smaller sized human figures to also somewhat scale with vehicles.
Yeah it was a brick & mortar when I discovered them. I just looked them up recently and it appears they are no longer at the location where I found them. Their online prices are crazy 🤦🏾♂️
Because America's largest retailer has America's worse distribution system, if they do have something they've got a ton of something six months or older and it's gonna sit there for another six months SMH..
The Alternators scale G1 Optimus Prime I got at Toys R US, he is known to my friends as "Big Pimpin' Optimus Prime "..
PS there's no such thing as too much die-cast if it's made well 😅
Lol @ big pimpin Optimus Prime
I got a video on diecast already scheduled to drop on this channel 😉
You make this hobby sound like an addiction😂(don't tell them how fast you can get addicted)
Hell for some it is. I did a video on it a while ago. Got another one coming
Word dude.
Sounds like you just lost control...became a hoarder!
Also, children don't have money...adults have always kept the toy industry in business.
I have been a dealer since '99...started collecting in the late 1970's... I've seen almost everything.
Not sure how you got "lost control & hoarder" from this video but thanks for watching.
"It was Optimus Prime"... Lmao, 90% of anything Transformers is always Optimus Prime
😭🤣🤷🏾♂️
😂😂😂😂😂😂
There was a vendor at my local mall in Cali that had a ton of Godzilla import figures back in the early 2000s when i was a kid. Every weekend, I'd get some new monster. Then when they ran out of new figures cause I got whole recent line, I started branching out to other properties. That's where I started, but I haven't been toy hunting in a while since most of stuff I like can only be bought online.
Brother man, you aight 👍 n't too old collect toys 🤗
I’m a new subscriber to your channel today. I know how you feel about not doing the toy hunt. I have done it before, but I don’t post it on my channel a lot, especially when some retailers don’t like it, and are kinda weird about it, in my opinion, however, why waste your gas money just to hunt for a toy, when, with the price of gas right now, and you can find it online, and not having to deal with the shortage of certain toys or figures. The one thing that I have noticed though about online shopping is, that is not being addressed in the action figure and toy community is the fact that there is a constant thing that is not being addressed by UA-camr communities and it is the hackers that use Direct Denial of Service or the Denial of Service attacks that bog down the servers like Hasbro Pulse, or even other online retailers when it initially comes out, for example, the Once a Man Cobra Commander that is constantly sold out when it was released on the website. I don’t think people consider this, Once he was released on the Hasbro Pulse website, the figure was sold out in seconds. I believe it was due to the fact that there was a Denial of Service, or a Direct Denial of Service attack that can be done with a certain type of software or malware or malicious code that bogs down the entire server of Hasbro Pulse, then add in a shopping bot or a scalper bot that buys up the entire inventory, which makes the product sell out so fast, and this is done on a timer to hack into the server, because, in my opinion, Hasbro Pulse announces when it is going up on the Hasbro Pulse website, and since for example, the Once A Man Cobra Commander was not really made when the original movie came out, Hasbro didn’t even make it, now, it has become popular after over about 4 decades after it came out, i think it is due to “creative” marketing, or the fact that Hasbro executives are so ignorant about the figures that were in the movie, and market it wrong, when it comes to the movie, then they have decided to stick with the same thing with the iconography that there’s no link to what the icons mean, and have dumped the file cards of each character due to “cost cutting “ measures like they were doing during the 80s , and then you end up finding the same thing on EBay for 2 to 4 times the actual price that’s being sold by the original manufacturer so that the scalper can get a profit from the illegal markup on the same product. Just look at another example of the PlayStation 5.
That's not a subject I can speak on because it's not something I've run into. Sounds messed up though
Thanks for watching
@@DSIkonz Oh okay. I understand. I guess that it seems like it may seem a little weird, but it is something that I have seen before in the Dr. Mindbender and Serpentor releases, in my opinion, and it seems like that each and every time it happens. Just look at what can happen next time there’s a popular figure that is released. I say, look at what happens with the pulse con next.
How do you mess with kids? You leave kids alone!
There's nothing wrong with enjoying something you did as a kid as an adult. Look at professional athletes
Collectable stuff isnt meant for kids. Theres actual kid sections
Yeah I agree, adult collectibles are not for kids
WRASSSSLIN' - can we see the DS. The forgettin spot LOL. Is it only the Elite / Ultimates? No AEW crap!??!
Lol yeah we rocking the Elite/Ultimates over here. I do own a couple AEW figures 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Ha yeah I went to every toy store that's near me.i just get mines online
Stop with the toys, man.
Why are you on a channel about action figures if you have a problem with action figures? Make that make sense
@@DSIkonz Jesus Christ...ok bro.
1-UA-cam showed me a nice thumbnail.
2-I watched a nice man go bonkers over collecting toys...
3- I'm old.
4- You are too.
Conclusion: How the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu you asking me why the heck I'm giving you advice everyone you love should be giving you? Can you feel me rolling my gorgeous eyes?
I'll be the nice man in the video and just say...
Thanks for watching
@@DSIkonz You are very welcome dude. Hugs!
Brick and morter shopping died 2012
What happened in 2012?
F them kids🤣🤣🤣but I feel you on that I still toy hunt but you can buy them on line and yes I would never take from a kid that’s a scum bag move they are the future toy collectors it I still like the trill of it but good video 💯
🤣🤣 🎯10:33 🎯🤣🤣
Interesting camera angle
Not sure if this is a shot or not. This is the Internet, never can be sure.
Lol, this was me with another adult dude at the toy section. Dude was pretending he doesn't watch pro wrestling. I was like boy stop. Lol.
( No disrespect and hopefully it doesn't sound offensive ) but man, what's with this angle?
What's wrong with the angle? I've shot most of my videos since I started this channel from the side angle.
@@DSIkonzthe angle is fine. It frames your gestures better than a boring straight-on shot
Sucks how TRU closed its doors in the US, if you ever travel to Canada they are still in business.
@@DSIkonz oooh ok. I'm just like "ayooo why isn't he looking over here. Is there something going on out there that caught his focus? I feel like the third wheel" Lol. But hey if you did this for a while and ppl enjoy ur style by all means. Carry on bud.
@@loganpark2530 i kind of like the boredom of a face to face type of view. It's like watching your friend talk to you u k. But if he does tks like years and years ago and ppl digs it. By all means carry on.
