Trust me, sodastream tastes nothing like Mt Dew. It's an acquired taste for sure! I learned to really like sodastream because of the lack of sugar.

👉🏻 YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!! I only know this only because I am dating an engineer that once designed machines for the food industry. I bought a Sodastream to test and we both said “Yuck - funky aftertaste”. But then he told me I needed to try mixing it with reverse osmosis water.
Like me - you’re likely using regular tap water which contains minerals that react to the ingredients in Mountain Dew like citric acid. That is why many of us hate ice in our mountain dew drink - when the ice melts it starts to taste funny.
When they make real mountain dew they use the purest water possible because of possible chemical reactions with minerals and things in tap water. He once designed machines in the food industry and he knew the importance if not using tap water.
So I went to the grocery store and bought a gallon of filtered reverse osmosis water and tried it again. It worked! The weird after taste was gone! Then I bought a pitcher water filter (I chose WaterDrop because it had a better rating than Brita). I remade the Sodastream Diet Mountain Dew again with the Waterdrop filtered water and it is very, very close. Now it is just a matter of using the right amount of syrup. Now after adjustments I can barely tell the difference.
Try it again with filtered water.
