If I recall, there was a flavor of Mountain Dew in the states called Pitch Black *I think it was some kind of grape flavored soda* But it had been discontinued in stores. However, depending on what state you live in, mainly in the southeast, it can be found as a fountain drink at select gas stations, such as Speedway. I have no idea if it’s still around, but I had seen it in Speedway gas stations several years ago.

I remember still having to go to Chinatown to buy the "ïllegal" imported version around 2007 and then seeing it back in the supermarkets as an energy drink year or two later. They must've reformulated it in the mid-late 2010s (guessing this because I've never seen the new formula name "Citrus Blast" and I left the UK in 2013).

Man! This just reminded me of the flavor Mountain Dew had released a while back. I believe it was called Mountain Dew Black Label. MAN! That drink was the absolute bomb. So sad to see it not being showcased in the video because it's discontinued.
I suppose it can't be helped as there are so many options, but you guys missed the Taco Bell Exclusive Mountain Dew Baja Blast and the most elusive of flavors, Throwback Mountain Dew. Made with what is likely the closest approximation the original formula. It uses actual orange juice and real sugar.
And the Peach one we have in fountains at Bojangles in the south. Texas has one with goji berries in it. We have Kiwi flavored in NC as of a few weeks ago.
"Made With REAL Sugar" is a marketing gimmick for whole foods moms and high school dropouts. Sugar is sugar across the planet regardless of the source.

Funny enough the 24 pack isn't the largest here in america. I believe at Costco or Sam's club they sell 36 packs of mountain dew. I only know this bc my mom has been drinking almost exclusively diet mountain dew for as long as I can remember.
Code Red is absolutely amazing!! I live in New Zealand and ours is a berry variation as opposed to cherry. It tastes horrible. I have to buy genuine code red off US importers at huge markups.
that shit is terrible for you. It’s like straight red40 which is a known carcinogen lmao. Like fr if you drink it a lot you may wanna cut back as red40 confirmed can cause cancer lol. obviously no soda is good for you, but red40 in particular we have known is bad for decades but since it’s a petroleum product the lobby to keep it legal is too strong
I remember going to London back in 2014. I was in a pub on the first day that I got there. They had Pepsi logo on the bar so I asked for a mt. Dew. The two bartender had no clue what it was. They looked at me like I was talking gibberish or something.
As some one who has been drinking mountain dew on and off for far too long I loved this video. Was a bit surprised they didn't go looking for mountain dew throw back, now that stuff will have you bouncing off the walls.
Waiting to see if they were going to mention why certain mountain dew products were banned in the EU(and possibly due to timing therefore in the UK as well). The reason among other things mentioned in the video, but strangely skipped (possibly due to comparing original mountain dew's ingredients and not the varieties): the use of bromine. Which is why you don't get any varieties over here anymore (code red, whiteout and voltage were introduced and thereafter banned, of which if any only code red has made a comeback).
Up in the northern states there was a time when you could get "Mtn Dew Throwback." Throwback tossed out the high fructose corn syrup and replaced it with pure cane sugar. While both options are still high in sugar and bad if consumed too much in their own right, the taste of pure cane sugar Dew was so much better than regular Mtn Dew. After a quick search its been rebranded to Mtn Dew Real Sugar but it's hard to come by if found at all in the more southern states in the US.

We had Gamer Fuel Mountain Dew in UK for a short time that was a Halo 4 promotion about a decade ago, could only find it in a few places though. I also remember being able to get a 440ml can of standard Mountain Dew from B&M's around the same time.
There was Gamer Fuel for like Halo 4 back in 2012, but that one was more like Voltage (Raspberry-Citrus) than the US Gamer Fuel which was more like Code Red (Cherry-Citrus).

similar to what was said about america and “sandwich shop” prices, it’s common in the uk too. for example, i can buy a 500ml bottle of coca cola for like £1.55, whereas i can buy a 1.75l bottle for £2.15. so for an extra 60p i can get 1.25l more. or, to buy 1.75l in 500ml bottles, it would cost £5.43. hence why i buy big bottles and just refill smaller ones
it's ridiculous how it's cheaper (£/volume) to buy a 2l bottle of brand pop over a 500ml. I'll buy a Mtn Dew now and then but usually in a meal deal in Tesco/Sainsbury

Theres so many more store exclusives in the us. Frostbite is at Walmart Green Apple at Kroger Maui Burst at Dollar General etc not to mention fast food/gas station exclusives. KFC has one and Circle K has Purple Thunder which is a pomegranate flavor and surprisingly it’s pretty good
I remember it coming out here when I was a kid and drank worrying amounts of it. It did make family events more palatable (they usually took place in Methodist churches so they were even less fun).

@@brandongarsh3474 wow keyboard warrior I’m sorry I don’t chug a 1.25 liter of mtn dew a day like you next time I will be sure to remember that extra .25 of a leader.
@@DBL0TILIDIE wow you got it correct that i drink it every day and i only know it is a 1.25 is because i was trying to find out what is more cost efficient to buy when comparing a 1.25L from the dollar store or a 2L from luckys
I actually collect Mountain Dew (US) and I never even knew the UK version was different! Now I’m tempted to get some imported here to try it…
it sucks ass just mix mtn dew with water and it'll be the same
It tastes pretty good from a brits perspective because well we ain't all that used to the taste of illegal chems that the us dew has so the British one tastes nice to us but your experience may vary
@@markopolo1271you guys eat beans on toast TF 😂😂
@@JoeKing837 well beans don't contain several known carcinogens my guy
@JoeKing837 which was introduced by Americans
In England we had a second flavour that was a sort of berry citrus and I miss it so much but they haven’t reconstituted it for like 5 years.
Raspberry game fuel, that stuff was insane! Tasted identical to the american blue voltage flavour
@@NintyGuy999 I only tried the American ones at like age 14-15 and looking back it was quite similar. I do miss the raspberry one we had though it was diff to any drink we had at the time and the original was it’s own flavour as well. Hopefully they expand :/
Man! This just reminded me of the flavor Mountain Dew had released a while back. I believe it was called Mountain Dew Black Label. MAN! That drink was the absolute bomb. So sad to see it not being showcased in the video because it's discontinued.
Good news! Pitch Black should be returning in early 2023!
They also missed Livewire
And the Peach one we have in fountains at Bojangles in the south. Texas has one with goji berries in it. We have Kiwi flavored in NC as of a few weeks ago.
@@MitsurugiW there's also the Sweet Lighting at KFC
"Made With REAL Sugar" is a marketing gimmick for whole foods moms and high school dropouts. Sugar is sugar across the planet regardless of the source.
@@JeffVanRooy I'll tell you what. It certainly tastes different and has a different mouth feel. There's clearly some kind of difference.
After this many episodes, Harry and Joe should make lists of everything they wanted to try, and take trips to the opposite place!
I’d love to see some episodes of Joe and Harry in the same room, sharing snacks and food and talking face to face about them.
Make it happen Insider! Pls!
Funny enough the 24 pack isn't the largest here in america. I believe at Costco or Sam's club they sell 36 packs of mountain dew. I only know this bc my mom has been drinking almost exclusively diet mountain dew for as long as I can remember.
As someone who has worked for distribution, there are 1l mtn dews in the US as well as a 3liter and mini bottles
The Mountain Dew strike killed me 😂 lmao
Mountain Dew is also available in 1 L size in the US
Why got the sirup from the uk german text on it?
There's also a 24 oz in US and the prices can vary state to state via local sugar taxes
there’s also a 1.25 liter bottles as well
Up in the northern states there was a time when you could get "Mtn Dew Throwback."
Throwback tossed out the high fructose corn syrup and replaced it with pure cane sugar.
I'm in the south and cant get these because there are so many people around here who drink mtn dew like its water
@@jacksonkemp9644you mean Dr Pepper?
@@ErikPT no mtn dew, I used to work for Pepsi and have friends who still do and we would have to sling an entire skid of nothing but mtn dew at almost every store because it’s the most bought that’s over 100cases in a couple days
What's crazy is I was at the store yesterday and a 12 pack of soda is $7 now in Wisconsin
“I’ve had 2 sips of this and I feel like I could fight god” very well said
7 portion sizes in the US. We also have a 1 liter
Can't forget all the restaurant and gas station exclusives as well as the seasonal mystery flavor, voodoo which has a few iterations. You're also missing live wire and citrus cherry which are common (in my area at least)
1.25 liter bottles also. What about Baja Blast and Purple Thunder Dews.
Also Costco has 36 packs
In Ireland you can't even get regular mtn dew anymore ever since a sugar tax came in almost all the stores here scrapped it as far as my knowledge goes there is only 2 stores in the island that sell it Link and Reynolds both in Dublin City centre
We had Gamer Fuel Mountain Dew in UK for a short time that was a Halo 4 promotion about a decade ago, could only find it in a few places though. I also remember being able to get a 440ml can of standard Mountain Dew from B&M's around the same time.
We had a red Raspberry flavour but not code red 😢
There was Gamer Fuel for like Halo 4 back in 2012, but that one was more like Voltage (Raspberry-Citrus) than the US Gamer Fuel which was more like Code Red (Cherry-Citrus).
@@DickieCheezits Ah right, yeah that was the one! Thanks for the correction, I'll adjust my comment accordingly.
He is missing 3 sizes for the U.S. the 24oz bottle, the 18 pack of 12oz cans, and the 36 pack of 12oz cans. There also used to be a 3 liter bottle as well but I haven't seen one in years.
also 1 liter bottle.
I'd have to say that MTN Dew Livewire, (which wasn't featured in this video), is quite possibly my most favorite! It's the orange one that usually tends to come out ever summer in the US.
It’s so good, I absolutely love it
The new Spark lemonade is one of my favourite sodas! Hilarious to see such an adverse reaction to it 🤣
He LIKED the gingerbread one. His tastebuds are fuuuuuuuuucked.
Yeah this dude is an anomaly lol I love the spark flavor. He also didn't try the Goji citrus strawberry which is my favorite Mountain Dew flavor ever. It's only available in fountain drink form in convenience stores but god damn I wish they made it a permanent flavor.
Yeah major melon is the least offensive out of the normal mtn dews. But I drink the extreme ones like Voltage since they’re pretty unique to MTN Dew
I like the lemonade too lol
@@MitsurugiW the gingerbread one is good

You can find 36ct cans in warehouse stores like sams club and Costco. There’s also a 1.25 liter bottle
I was surprised they made a big deal of the 24 when 36 is clearly the way to go.
@@jessicaroth7439 it’s actually rarely cheaper at sams or Costco on a per can basis since soda is often a loss leader at grocery stores it’s very often on sale
@@mitpatterson it used to he cheaper majority of the time. It is no longer so. Now costco is always more expensive than the store. But even with the store sales costco isn't much more expensive.
7:44 “ i feel like I could fight god” . Oh lord I could not stop my self from laughing, I laughed even harder when the words “ oh hell yeah brother, that gods fighting juice he got there” popped in my mind.
similar to what was said about america and “sandwich shop” prices, it’s common in the uk too. for example, i can buy a 500ml bottle of coca cola for like £1.55, whereas i can buy a 1.75l bottle for £2.15. so for an extra 60p i can get 1.25l more. or, to buy 1.75l in 500ml bottles, it would cost £5.43. hence why i buy big bottles and just refill smaller ones
it's ridiculous how it's cheaper (£/volume) to buy a 2l bottle of brand pop over a 500ml. I'll buy a Mtn Dew now and then but usually in a meal deal in Tesco/Sainsbury
As a Dutchie I LOOOOVE mountain dew!! I have tried it looooong before it was introduced over here in the Netherlands. When I made a trip to the states this was my fav ❤️ love the red version as well ✌🏻

Theres so many more store exclusives in the us. Frostbite is at Walmart Green Apple at Kroger Maui Burst at Dollar General etc not to mention fast food/gas station exclusives. KFC has one and Circle K has Purple Thunder which is a pomegranate flavor and surprisingly it’s pretty good
Yall missed Mountain dew overdrive, a caceys exclusive
I remember it coming out here when I was a kid and drank worrying amounts of it. It did make family events more palatable (they usually took place in Methodist churches so they were even less fun).
Same. I remember passing out behind the waltzers at a fair when I was a kid from so much free mountain dew
And here I thought there was only one variety of Mountain Dew!
It would have been cool to see the drink colors in a glass
In the us there are two more sizes 1 and 1.5 l sizes 1 liters are typically found on the bottom shelves of gas station and convenience stores while the 1.5l bottles are exclusive to dollar stores
Every single store in Wisconsin it’s like 4$ a 2 liter 2 and some change for a 20 oz, cases are like 6$ but they were up to 9 when the gas prices went up too
Something that I think would be fun for the exclusives is if you would rate them from worst to best!

1:10 already gotta stop you, we have a 1 liter bottle (in the US) it’s at the gas station and I get it for about a dollar more than a regular bottle, we also have 36 can packs at places like Sam’s Club and Costco

We did have the zero sugar version in the UK a few months ago. I've had it. I've also bought smaller bottles of, I think about 350ml before? Haven't looked in a while, so not sure if we still have them currently. Don't think I've ever seen a diet bottle, though.
I think that energy drink one used to be Amp- my high school was wired up for 2 or 3 years from selling Amp and SoBe NoFears like crazy before they stopped selling them.. It was a lot less chaotic after that.
There's another Mtn Dew size in the USA.
It's a 1.5 liter.
You can find it in Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Walgreens in my area.
After Joe has come down from the dew-perience, y’all need to do a Monster Energy food wars so we can get Harry hyped too xD
This video is just torturing Joe by making him drink every Mountain Dew flavor. Lol
Ah yes the drink where I learnt high caffeine isn't for me. But the cirtrus taste was needed on a hot day. At least I learnt my caffeine sensitivity level for a theory thing I was interested in.
Wish we had like a zero sugar here if my BP drops badly. But God the colour is so scary of the other flavours. EDIT: Found sugar free version in Subway. Definitely need it though only half a bottle a day for my hearts sake. Edit 2: I felt high after a half bottle and definitely don't want to know what a full 500 would do to me.
I could never get past the almost flat taste. It just isn't nearly as fizzy, as other sodas, to me.
7up ftw
@@terrifick4092 yh 7up free is my go to unless I'm desperate for caffeine to get through the day and function.
Sad to not see Livewire and Overdrive. Overdrive I know for sure is not in the UK.

The secret message of this video: Do NOT drink Mountain Dew!
I noticed when you buy 2 liter sodas in the us no matter what brand gas/petrol stations cost between $1.20 and $3 and in grocery stores they range from $1 to $2.
I used to drink 4 liters of mountain dew in 30mins back in 2005 and lately only 1 to 2 liters a day sometimes less
The US also has times when it sells 36 packs on pepsi products including mountain dew. The 36 pack also come in split packs where you can get 18 pepsi and 18 mountain dew cans
