I guess, everybody here, has not seen the movie, it was written for ( The flight of the wild geese, 1978). A very sad endind movie, where this song gives it it's finishing touch.
@@martinhebblewhite4659 I started to watch the movie but I coulnd't finish it because I don't want sad endings. I can't stand with my heroes dying at the end.
A song that just about sums up the current global problem, considering it was made in 1978 for the film, lessons still to be learned, promises made (and usually broken)
Sad are the eyes Yet no tears The flight of the wild geese Brings a new hope Rescue from all this Old friends And those newly found One chance to make it last When there's danger all around And reason just ups and disappears Time is running out So much to be done Tell me what more What more What more can we do There were promises made Plans firmly laid Now madness prevails Lies fill the air What more What more What more can we do One chance to make it last What more What more can we do
The Wild Geese were Irish Mercenaries who left Ireland to fight for the French (and Spanish) against the English Crown. In Dec 1691 16,000 soldiers and 6,000 women and children in 7 Regiments sailed to France. Was it for this the Wild Geese spread A grey wing on every tide…Yeats
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew... In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.
Sorry to leave a message on yours here mate. I'm just trying to find a lad in #AFRICA mate i'm sorry. I hope you don't mind & wishing you a very blessed say now #samchilders
I always hated apartheid, nazism, racism and nationalism. Yet I was not considering only South Africa, but even countries which are still kept underdeveloped as Republic of Congo, with an average wage of only 2 dollars per day
...I was born there... ...always against the apartheid ... apartheid system we left as refugees in the 60th, ... no house or work here, the Netherlands, the rest is history, poverty and care in a nuns children's home ...

"Now madness prevails,
Lives will be ended"
Sad are the eyes
Yet no tears
The flight of the wild geese
Brings a new hope
Rescue from all this
Old friends
And those newly found
One chance to make it last
When there's danger all around
And reason just ups and disappears
Time is running out
So much to be done
Tell me what more
What more
What more can we do
There were promises made
Plans firmly laid
Now madness prevails
Lies fill the air
What more
What more
What more can we do
One chance to make it last
What more
What more can we do

Thought it was based on a British Colonel's exploits, a Colonel Mike Hoare I believe.

The problematic relationship between Western and Sub-Sahara Africa is real: imperialism and then neocolonialism have played bad
