- This is a basic video of how to install a dual battery on a Next Gen Ford Ranger. This video does not go into wiring up any DCDC or cigarette sockets as there is a thousand different options but if you have ANY questions at all around that or anything else put them in the comments bellow.

Second batteries are so handy and can also be a lifesaver. Thanks for sharing guys!
They are very handy!
We get our 4WD end of June and Steve is so excited to fit out a battery system in it (he’s an electrician do he is so excited to create something for us) and it is so good to get tips and ideas for others!!
That's awesome guys! All the best!
That is a nice install!!
Great info! We will take note for when we set our 4wd up
Glad we could help
Great information thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, thanks.👍
Thanks Daniel, pretty easy install mate you will be fine! What DCDC are you going with?
Giving the iTechworld gear a run with this install, I'll see how it goes
Hi do you know which fuse can be picked up for the ignition wire for a dc charger.
Yesss the ranger !!!
Great vehicles
Great advice 😅
Having a dual battery will change the way you go camping! :)
Thanks for the vid.
Is there a battery weight limit on this tray and do you know if it comes with the dcdc mount bracket
No there is not, pending on the size of the DCDC you can mount it on or under the battery hold down clamp
Great vid mate. Thanks
No problem 👍
Relatively easy with the lift bring a big help.
Hope you enjoyed the video!
hello very nice videos what type of battery did you install? and what charger? do you have any advice on the type of battery? can we install an LFP battery? THANKS
In this video we installed a 120ah AGM battery
Really nice set up and looks to be a rather easy install. But in my 21 ranger , the air box practically touches the radiator reservoir. Zero room for an extra battery.
Yeah there is not much room in the PX series!
can you install lithium battery instead of the standard agm as the second battery?
You can just make sure the outer casing of that particular battery brand can handle under bonnet temps
Good demo, any advice as to how to get the 12v to the tub? Are there pre run lines to the switch/blanked plate in the back? Would love to see the part of the vid following on from where you finished here.
Hey Nick there is no pre ran lines no and we just didn't show this part of the video as there are a heap of options with what you can do.
Where do u mount the dcdc charger mate?
Any where, there is a lot of places in the next gen. The best place is under the front plastic guard down near the hood latch though
I would love to install a second battery in that location. At first, I thought, I would install the battery on the truck bed, until I saw this video. By the way, is the inverter the source of the 230V convenient outlet? I really wanted to check the inverter as, there is no output voltage after plugging in a 220V vacuum cleaner that was more than the 400w maximum power. The fuse tested fine.
Yeah there is a lot of great locations for batteries in the Next Gen!
220v (volts) and 400w (watts) are two different measures of electricity.
Most vacuums would use more then 400w so you might have fried your inverter. I would try with a low W (Wattage) appliance like a phone charger and see if it works, if still does not and you're certain all the fuses are ok then you might need to take it to a dealership and replace the inverter.
@@outnaboutexplorers2103 I've read somewhere that there's this circuit protection that will activate if you happen to plug in higher wattage device and will eventually reset back by turning the engine off and on again. I guess, I might have fried the inverter as it did not reset the electrical system. I guess I have to visit the dealership for the check up.
Can you point out where the inverter location might be? I really wanted to check the inverter if there's a reset button. I will make sure not to mess with it and void the warranty.
Why would t the kit come with that third bolt?
Great question
Super ou peut on acheter se kit et comment raccorder les deux batterie ??
What's that sorry?
@@outnaboutexplorers2103 sorry for the language I am french! I would like to know where can we get the dual battery kit? and how can we connect the two batteries together?
@@outnaboutexplorers2103 should we install a splitter coupler? And what model do you recommend?
where can i get the bracket from mate
Hey mate there is only a couple of them available atm and I'm certain with ARB's you have to buy the entire kit with their supplied DCDC and everything. You can buy just the tray here. www.4x4outdoor.com.au/store/NEXT-GEN-RANGER-DUAL-BATTERY-TRAY-p488973054
Yeah what bracket is it lol
Hey Tersy, here is where you can also get it. www.4x4outdoor.com.au/store/NEXT-GEN-RANGER-DUAL-BATTERY-TRAY-p488973054
@@outnaboutexplorers2103 $450! That's more expensive than the battery!
@@tersy9862 hahah!
I'm blown away by how vacant it looks with the inner guard liner out..
Yeah most vehicles have a metal guard in there but this series Ranger the only inner guard protection is the plastic trim!
