Sometimes you need to step away from the every day and just create… so I took four hours and set out to carve a wood bowl. For this wood carving project I grabbed an old log from my dads wood pile and decided to work it and see what would happen. Using my grinder and a few other tools I managed to carve something rough and rugged into what I consider a showpiece. Watch along and see how I was able to carve a wood bowl in just four hours - Enjoy! - Навчання та стиль
Man it's nice to see someone else who can look at something as simple as a chunk of firewood, and see potential for a project in it 👍
Обожаю тебя и твой канал! Удачи тебе в творчестве и всех благ твоей семье! Спасибо
Beautiful work, thanks for sharing.
Wow, came out so great! Looks amazing, awesome work!
Awesome Jessie 👌🏻
That's a beautiful bowl, Love the grain in that piece of wood. :)
Beautiful work bro!!!!
That would be a cool bonsai tree pot.
Well done! Creative and handy.
Ton Heerding I believe the Dutch are known for their wooden shorts...or was that shoes 🤔
Gosh darn it! I think I'm in love with your hands! Lol.
This was amazing to watch.
Great job!. Thank you.
good job Samurai best regards from Iceland
Very nice bowl :) greetings!
Very nice 👏
Chunkawood. I’ll remember that. 😄
Looks swweeeett that does 👍👍👍👍
Nice!
You really like carving things in 4 hours
Tell me chunka! 😂. You the man Samurai!
Chunk-a looks great
amen to the intro
Класс!У тебя золотые руки!!!
excelente
3:18 is where i think you had the best organic shape to the bowl. I feel you removed to much of the natural outline after that.
Thats a very tricky part about this kind of carving
@@BradsWorkbench Agreed, it's free form and thus subjective.
i agree. But maybe hunks of wood just kept breaking off?
@@glennryzebol4472 very true
I agree.... I like it thicker and rustic at 3:00 but we now know what it looks like both ways and we can choose.
That Odies tho. 👍🏼
Looks like wild cherry. Whenever I cut wood on my place I tend to cut it a bit higher because that creates huge burls. I have some good sized ones made out of wild cherry I'm about to put to use. If you cut the tree three feet off of the ground numerous branches begin to grow out of the sides creating a beautiful grain structure.
Wouldn't want to eat my corn flakes in that bowl lol (great job)
Inspirational. What did you finish it with?
Plans available? 😂
iggyandangus
step one, find a piece of wood
Step 2, go to auctions until you find the desired tools
Step 3 carve the bowl
Step 4 sand the bowl
Step 5 clear coat the bowl
Step 6 sell the bowl for $100/hr of your time.
👊🏻
👍
Awesome samurai! I wonder if we have chunkawood here in New England. I’ll ask around.
Where are you in New England? I'm in Franklin county mass.
Looks like the mouth of a Graboid from Trimmers haha. Awesome work bro!
I just made some live edge platters on my channel a couple weeks ago... very enjoyable. Would love to try that planer wheel but damn they are expensive
Try Chinese copies on eBay. $10 and up
@@dart70ca are they worth a damn tho?
@@BradsWorkbench Haven't tried mine yet. Could be some carbide shrapnel flying around :) Seriously though, not exactly high tech. I have a chainsaw blade, too. Stumpy was extremely careless in that video. Bad stance, bad arm position, bad workpiece position. This bowl is a great test of the ArborTech; looked extremely stable on those inside cuts. I would never attempt that with the chainsaw carver.
@@dart70ca i have a chainsaw disc too but ive had it catch too often to use it anymore. My hands just arent steady enough. I like the kutzall discs
@@BradsWorkbench Agreed. I treat it with a lot of respect and read the directions before each use to remind myself. I use a weak HF 4 1/2" grinder and NEVER lock it on. I like the Kutzall and Saburr products as well, though I do not own a disc. Only downside is their tendency to clog in certain woods, I wood say.
Борщанул, трошки!)))) 😄
I prefer more use of the hand tools. But it’s a great bowl and an inspirational video to spend an afternoon. Just grap a piece and go from there. Thank you for sharing and inspire us all.
Im pretty sure it Plumb tree log, IMO
What did you use to finish the bowl with? It looked like some kind of wax... The end result is really beautiful; a downright gorgeous "chunk" bowl!
That bowl turned out fantastic, man!! Pat yourself on the back! On another note, can you create an outro that is 20-seconds long to beat UA-cam at it's marketing game? Because all too often, I see the end-results of creator's projects be covered by UA-cam's suggestions. Also, if you could showcase the end-result for a bit longer, because when the pause button is processed, the screen is darkened and the pause symbol is covering up the work.✌️
What was used to stain at the end...sorry for the noob question..in advance
What was it finished with , oil ?
I would totally eat cereal out of that bowl.
What was the angle grinder attachment used at 2:30?
Dam haven’t heard that music in a while
I bet that project was therapeutic in its inseption. Great work!
Samurai. It looks like a torso. Not bad........🤔
5:20 Scraping with the ear protection on? That’s some heavy scraping going on... ;D
That Stiletto though
Put some blood into it at 5:13? Awesome video. Inspiring.
can you tell me the brand and type of that pencil grinder rotary tool you are using , I am looking for a good larger one like that but only finding small Dremel tools ?
What is the hand tool you use in the last bit to scrape the bowl before sanding?
It's a card scraper. They come in a variety of shapes.
What ear protection do you use/recommend?
Ross Rawlins He uses the yellow Peltor earmuffs
Very nice, did you ever discover what species of wood that happens to be ?
TheRedhawke he said...chunka, native to North America I believe
Yes he did and we have that species as well but it's not pink. I have several Chunkas of wood laying around but none are pink on the inside.
What did you use as finish? Bee's wax?
Ok I coud see Odie's Oil. A food safe oil. Interesting.
💯💯💯👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Why you didn’t paint in black your metabo sander like your Makita and Stihl? Peace Samuraï ✌🏼
3.
I’ve been thinking of buying one of those chainsaw blades for my angle grinder but after watching stumpy nubs latest video...
Yeah that was brutal
Yeah man
That's not a Chainsaw wheel. It;s an ArborTech carbide carving disk.
Me lembrou o desenho animado do pica pau.
You havnt sprayed that stilleto black
Nice, it looks like red cedar.
JOHN SHOUREAS I’d say Plum
Looks like Eastern cedar, but he's on the west coast. Wrong bark for juniper. I'd say some sort of prunus as well.
Neither of my browsers will allow me to join the mob, says site is unsecure and information can be stolen. Whats up with that ?
Mob in the site name freaks them out :D
Please consider watching, "Grandpa Amu" channel. He builds some cool stuff with rudimentary tools by hand. I enjoy your channel immensely.
Is that North American 'Chunka Wood'? Because my timber merchant here in the UK has never heard of it. He'd only got 'Bloxa', 'Stripser' and some 'Loadsa', round-the-back [cheap rubbish actually]. LOL.
Now, turn that bowl into a toothpick, then I’ll be impressed
Was wondering why you started making videos again... Massive ad section for makers mob. Explained.
Almost looks like wooden shorts.
Он все дерево в труху превратил, 90%
I got a cheapo carving disk from amazon, it kicked like a mule and scraped me enough to put it in a drawer never to look at it again! Haha, this is tempting, but still no.
Where in the heck have you been? you're snipped so it can't be making more babies lol, it was surprising what that hunk of firewood revealed.
Who the heck downvotes this?
Unacceptable!
I did the same with Woodglut :)
Why have you sprayed the stihl chainsaw black. Its such a silly thing to do Jesse no everyone should pay you because you use there tools
This sucks because of the crass commercial pushing products. Thumbs down and I sure won't subscribe to an ad station.
