My husband and I recently sold our dining table that came with four chairs that we hate. They have been laying around the apartment because we use our two FAVORITE blue comfortable chairs. I cannot wait until the buyer picks it up today and we can begin searching for a table that seats 2!

Hey guys, I forgot to mention, but just in case you wanted the paint color, I repurposed my dresser a while back with clear knobs from Lowe’s and Annie Sloan’s chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue.
I also forgot to mention that my couch reclines electronically, so I don’t need to own an ottoman. I really like reclining couches, because it gives a theater experience. Sometimes guests will sleep on the couch instead of the air mattress because reclining couches are made very comfortable.

Love your videos! Scannable (has butterfly pic) is an awesome phone scanning app. You can scan directly to Google Drive or other cloud services or email/ text the doc directly to someone. It will even create a PDF from multiple page docs.

I take a pic of receipts with my cell phone and email them to myself. Later I file them in folders on my computer. This way there's never a big job of scanning to catch up on.

SF is a wonderful city. Just know that the cost of living in the city is extremely high, particularly for housing.

I'm going through my hard copy photographs at present and organizing the digital ones are next. I'm scared. That's all I have to say about it. :o

Also Melody, can you do a tutorial of sorts on going paperless? Step by step would be great, as well as where to store and what can be digitized. I have insurance papers, court documents from divorce and adoption, mortgage papers, Children's medical papers and artwork. All of which I'm nervous about just tossing. Can you advise?
I'll do another paper video! I'll show what I've kept and how to sort through receipts quickly. Stenography is shorthand. My computer software translates my shorthand into English instantaneously. It's a challenge, and very enjoyable. I really like it.

Did you ever make it to the Bay Area? I am trying to get a 400sq ft condo there and prices are like AAHHH. LA and SF will make anyone understand true down sizing Lol
As someone in the bay area... stay away it's too expensive. Although, I guess my life style is go to work and go home so I don't really enjoy all the "benefits" of the bay area. Still... it's expensive don't do it! 2k for a studio apartment to be within 20 mins of work. x_x
I just use an app on my phone to scan. Genius Scan for iphone, but I'm sure Android phones have scanner apps too. Can you return something with a scanned receipt? Don't they have to keep the hard copy in their drawer?
You can get that hand soap at Target cheaper :) I'm surprised with your colour scheme that you went with a bulky brown sofa. Have you considered replacing it?
She mentioned she likes earthy tones because they remind her of nature. And minimalism means owning fewer, but higher quality items that you love.
I think often times people misconstrue the Scandinavian aesthetics with minimalism.
Why do you want to move to san francisco? I live in the valley, about an hour away, and san francisco has a lot to do, but is the most expensive, over crowded, cosumer driven city in the country. I like to visit if i want to catch a show or game, but there are many negatives about living in that city. It is pretty in some areas, but only the most expensive. The crime is horrible. Unless you live in a very expensive area, the streets are dirty and filled with trash. many friends and relatives there. Unless you are making well over 100,000 a year (the average median house income is over that) please check out other cities in california. There are areas just north or south of san fran that are little cities but are less expensive, cleaner, and just as cultured.
It would be temporary. I'd do it for (1) the sun, (2) the city experience, (3) the networking, and (4) living near my best friend. I'm considering New York, Arizona, and Washington as well.
If you're looking for sun, San Francisco itself is not the best place to find it! I live in the East Bay, and you'll get a lot more sun if you come to this side of the Bay!

Please don't put out the message that we women need to wear makeup to get paid more- we need to break that stereotype and way of thinking. I hate the stuff and shouldn't have to paint my natural face just because people deem my genetics visually unappealing.
NobodyOfTheTardis It is literally proven that better looking people tend to be paid more. She's not perpetuating any myth. Don't be a hater. Learn to use makeup to your advantage is all she's saying.
We may hate the reality, but the fact is that the evidence CLEARLY shows that women who wear makeup in the workplace are paid more, promoted higher, and trusted more. I agree that it stinks, but we have to acknowledge that bias and consciously work with it. If we choose to fight it, then there may be a response/consequence from that.

I totally agree with you that we should not have to wear makeup to be paid for our skills and knowledge and to be paid what we are worth but the way I look at it is that if my company expects a look of professionalism in dress say, I would definitely dress the part that would advance my career and add more money to my paycheck. I had much rather wear jeans and a t shirt to work, my skills and knowledge would still be the same but I would not be perceived the same. Most employers want a quality car with a high end paint job to transport their clients rather than an equally good, mechanically wise, car that has rust and dents and scratches all over it. Why? Because it brings the employer more money, clients ect. due to the way their company is perceived by the client. Same goes for the company's employees. Sad but true.
And it's not that I don't agree with you. I'm all for overthrowing the patriarchy. But while I'm doing that, I want to earn the most money possible - because money equals OPTIONS for women.
I don't disagree with you. But be shrewd. You'll have to prepared for missed opportunities.
