Thank you a honest man I been an owner operator for 23 years and it ain’t been good since 2012 I don’t lie to these younger drivers that inspire to own one. Its a big responsibility the majority of what you make is going back in the business and when I do my taxes I bring home a little more than a company driver fuel insurance and maintenance is taking it all
yeah, let's scare all the competition away! i don't net 2500 a week after all expenses at allll! it's Terrrrrible out here! 😂 the freight is gonna be there regardless... and running a business is hard work mentally, most will weed themselves out. we need more parking spots though!!!😂💯💯
@omexoticz9045 own authority, and im about to start making more because i bought my own reefer trailer. i wouldn't reccomend leasing on, unless its just too hard for some reason. leasing on you are just giving away 20-30% of your money to save yourself from having to do some paperwork. & maybe not having to set up insurance.. id say, just start ur own. and thats just me being real because i could say "sign onto mine" bla bla bla and try to make $ off of you, or try to say "money aint here man" to scare off competition. but i dont feel like i need to do that crap. there is plenty of money out here bro.. i seen some loads the other day for reefer goin from California to nj paying $8000. money is out here. its gonna take some to get started, but once you get started then its here for the taking.. pay all ur stuff off out right, dont be trying to make a truck payment, ins payment, trailer payments & this/that payments because then it starts to kinda eat up them profits... like.. if i had all those payments then that 2500 NET wouldnt exist for me some people pay dam near 1000 a week for all their crap. dont do that, because 1 bad week can put you under. try to find a truck you can afford to buy outright. save save save money. you dont want payments trust me! im now GROSSING $2000 a day, i haven't really figured out my net yet. but when i was netting 2500 i was grossing about 1000 a day for 6day so that was averageing 6000 a week gross & 2500 net. so now that im grossing double that, id imagine my net is going to be almost double. im only 2 days in though, and i had to take my trailer to the shop for maintenance.. and that reefer units expenses MAY end up lowering my net quite a bit, as i have no experience with it thus far. but fuel doesn't seem to be too bad & im getting all the maintenance done right now (i WONT be doing that again) $400 for a dam oil change, ill be doing all the maintenance myself moving forward.. $1200 for freon to be added.. and who knows what the ticket will be by the time they are done. i guess gotta spend more to make more. but im hoping to see atleast 4000 a week net. and that's 1 truck/ 1 trailer.. that to me is fkn rich compared to how i grew up.. so all these ppl saying there aint no money out here... really? HOW? they must be lease op (lease op really is a scam imo) but theres plenty of $ out here

If it “no money in trucking” then why is he still driving his truck not only that but he seems to be investing more money into his truck. (Doesn’t make much sense if he’s not making any money.) 2. When people say it’s no money in it, what is considered “no money” $50k a year? 100k?…. I feel like someone who’s been in the game for 30+ years that was probably making upwards of 300-500k per year at some point (maybe more), would look at 100k or 200k as “no money”. But someone who’s never seen that type of money would probably think it is a lot. Again I’m not in the business yet and I’m actually only getting into it in order to build on to my current business that’s already making 400K a year. Trying to diversify my business portfolio and capabilities. It seems very hypothetical to make a broad statement like it’s “no money” in trucking but yet people like the gentleman in the video are still in the business and still investing into it and it’s so many ways that you can make GREAT money in trucking which is why I’m getting into it myself. My man. He never said the words there’s no money in trucking. We were talking about the money that rookies are thinking that are going to make vs what they really are making out here. As I see it, they're talking about inflation. This really impacts offloading the labor you generally don't want to do: engine rebuild/reman, new longer frame, and some guys don't want to replace or rebuild their transmission on their own time. It costs way more to have someone do these things for you, while freight still pays the same. Imagine working hard all year with no deliberate breaks, and you only pocket $70k for yourself after all is said and done.
i have been in this game going on 36 years i have seen a lot over the years and here is my thing about trucking u blow a tire call for help 3 or 4 hours sitting on the shoulder now how much do u get paid for the wait also break down on the road and need a tow truck thats money getting taking to the dealer now u get there dealer say we backed up 3 days they get to u when they do u need a part that they dont have which might take 3 weeks to get now u in the hotel room for 3 weeks buying food spending money u dont have now they get u fix the cost is 10 grand u pay it now u starting from 0 that is a hard pill to take i believe u need a side hustle doing something on line that can pay u 24/7 i do that now cause i learn the hard way i just had my transmission rebuilt 7500 for that i am a o/o so i always say he who break down break down along so people look in to that side hustle trust its worth it
Factor in fuel, insurance, repair and esp if you want a driver you gots to factor in driver pay your regular home life if you got house wife and kids and it goes on….
As far as def goes as long as you take care of it watch where you buy fuel so you dont get bad def/fuel youll be fine at about 200k the filter will need to be taken off sent to dealer and burned the whole process takes about a week so if you aint got money put back you will be in trouble
i wish everyone would get on board with that & ppm would stop taking these loads for $1.00. because brokers have that mentality of SOMEONE will take it.. and then some idiot comes along and does, it just blows my mind! stay with that same mindset! stay safe out there bro!
I got my CDL at 19 I’m 20 now I’ll be 21 in 5 months and can’t find a job no where to start I’m in Houston I wanna do this and more I don’t care about the money I just wanna see more or Texas or OTR
Only thing I don't agree with is how the super truckers talk about automatics, man can't no anybody drive an automatic and I don't want to be in traffic with a 18 speed truck and that automatic will get that load there just like the 18 speed ,but everything else he dropped was jewels
yeah, i agree with you bro.. i trained and tested on 18speed. but i prefer an automatic! can't be whackin the lot lizard in the head with that dam stick shift! 😂 forreal though, i dont like driving a stick 24/7 though.. maybe for a day if im bored but at work all day erryday nahhhh.
So I'm about to go to CDL school I'm just waiting for my background check to come back. Once I completed the school I was thinking about buying my own truck with the thoughts of making more money versus driving a company truck. But honestly I don't want to get in this game and regret it down the line. I don't have experience with trucks but this is something I dreamed of doing. But I would want to be trained from the best. The school I'm going to is Truck Driving Institute in Forsyth Georgia. My plan is to pay for my class out of pocket. IM ALL EARS TO ANY SUGGESTIONS OR RECOMMENDATIONS. I appreciate this video brother and I really need some good advice
I drove for 38 years as an owner operator, and I tell anyone going into the business; pull a dry box and don't service food of any kind, you'll eliminate 80% of problems.
OG was dropping gems however, you don’t decide rates the market does…you can deff make 6 figures in this industry still but you need to adjust and position your self to get that bag. If I can make 100k as a company driver I’d choose that any day of the week instead of being a owner operator.
@@cdlshorty74 brother, do your research..food service pays well, LTL companies pay well, and many private fleets pay well. Like my comment said, you are paid in direct proportion with what you have to offer this industry. If all you have is a regular CDL then your expected to get paid what your worth. Getting your endorsements can bump your salary significantly. It’s all about positioning your self to make that 100k
Yes the market does make up the rate but if u pull there freight at a low price the rate will most likely never go up because they know they got someone to pull it at a low rate tbh I'm like OG I don't pull less then a certain price but I run local so my rate is firm can't keep letting people determine your rate in my opinion but safe travels my trucker brothers and sisters bless up #REDBREAD
@@MaderaExpressllc so let me put it this way, let’s say i just became a owner operator and opened my LLC with no debt whatsoever and paid my truck and trailer cash…and let’s say you opened your LLC with debt and now have to run no less then 3$ a mile to sustain your company, and me on the other hand can run a load paying 2$ a mile…..the question is whose in the wrong here…the person who got into the game with significant amount of debt or the one who can run the load for a bit les and still maintain the lights running? My point is it’s all relative. Truckers don’t make prices and never will it’s all based on the current state of the economy. (COVID proved it) the only way a owner operator can still make decent money and not stress over it is not coming into this game with debt period. If you can’t wrap your head around that then don’t become O/OPP
Worse with the modern trucks, they aren't like old school where after you own them you get years of use. About the time you pay them off these days they are done, a straight up non stop money drain if you hold em. So there is no advantage, because the costs are endless or you just get lucky on some dice rolls.
I swear I saw this guy today up here in Wisconsin. Probably grabbing cheese to head back to Texas. Kinda crazy if it was him cause I just watch this video before hitting the road.. lmk!
Contact me my brother I would love to tell you about my experience in this business I’ve been driving since 1985 Never a owner operator started driving for my uncle dump trucks now I’m with UPS getting this easy money high six figures. Back in the day us brothers used to give each other special wave to appreciate each other out here making this money and we still do this day. The OG know what I’m talking about. The Trucking is not a Game.
Just make sure they pay you. And I’m not knocking tql but it’s just facts they have been in the news a lot lately for not paying Drivers and being a bad brokeridge
I understand that ,I’m just saying with a new authority not to many ppl doing business with you. My authority is not even 60 days old yet so I have to take what I can and survive till I get pass 3- 6 months..
He really couldn’t answer your questions sounded like he was just repeating the same thing you said seems like you know more then he does your question was why do the brokers dispatchers and ceos make more than drivers I will say he knew a lot though
Yup, a company that needs driver cameras and does not deserve to hire drivers at all. A driver should be expected to have their own camera system, not this prison cell company camera garbage.
A reefer motor is only a 3 cylinder diesel that’s why it doesn’t burn. A lot of fuel His trailer is a spread axle. Trailer normally called a Texas spread. His truck is considered a large car. An 18 speed transmission actually started off as twin sticks, 4 speed, main box and a 4 speed, auxiliary box which was called a brownie transmission then they came out with the 10 Speed Rd., Ranger then a 13 Speed Rd. ranger then a air 4 x 4 to 18 speed so my young brother if you’re gonna talk about trucks you need to be able to go no the history of trucks. first truck I ever drove was a 1968 GMC crackerbox it had a 318 Detroit no power steering no air condition then I went to driving a 1978 Kenworth W900 with a 400 Cummings would they six and a four merit box then a 1980 Peterbilt 379 or the 3408 DI cat with a full house that’s a 13 speed double over with the four speed progressive brownie 2speed rear end which run 200 miles an hour with 80,000 pounds so stay in your lane and keep other peoples name out of your mouth if you don’t know 😎personally
I’m from the projects bro I’ve been shot I’ve been to prison I’ve been gangbanging my whole life I get my CDL and this has to be one of the nastiest industries I’ve ever seen from this crooked companies to the drivers not helping each other the brokers the dispatchers the danger come on man 32 years this man drove on paper log when mfs use to smack 1k miles a day when it was good, drove during covid to I assume fuk out of here the goal is to retire and live life this buisness is at its lowest mfs are just stuck here and retire young to not when u 100 my dad been retired for a thousand years worked 25 years they stole his 401k and gets 1 k a month fuk out of here
CS, The bad things in our industry seem to go in cycles, from what I've seen over the last 38 years from when I got out of truck driving school in 1985 It's the bad stuff and never the good things that stick around too long. like people buying trucks without a CDL and then hiring an X-shoe salesperson to drive them...WTF. this was a thing in the mid-90s and they stopped after the 2000s started and now we go again. The brokers are another problem that needs to be fixed it continues to keep getting worse over time. keep doing what you are doing the industry needs this kind of advocacy and representation. Thanks, Keep on Trucking... DD😎🦾

Im a company driver. 64 cents /mile 3000 miles per week. Do the math. Great video.
Men love grabbing the gear...LOL. I'll take an automatic any day😁
This guy parked next to me yesterday somewhere in the Midwest 😅😅
Great video
Thank you
Factor in fuel, insurance, repair and esp if you want a driver you gots to factor in driver pay your regular home life if you got house wife and kids and it goes on….
Dam I wish I was the one he was interviewing I would of been the Katt Willam of this interview 😂😂😂😂😂😂, he’s telling the truth
I want to meet an OG to learn under like this guy
Maaaaaaan that's good information!.... I'll be saving to get my own truck!....
As far as def goes as long as you take care of it watch where you buy fuel so you dont get bad def/fuel youll be fine at about 200k the filter will need to be taken off sent to dealer and burned the whole process takes about a week so if you aint got money put back you will be in trouble
My man that’s right I am with my on the no less then $3 a mile 👌
i wish everyone would get on board with that & ppm would stop taking these loads for $1.00.
because brokers have that mentality of SOMEONE will take it.. and then some idiot comes along and does, it just blows my mind!
stay with that same mindset! stay safe out there bro!
I got my CDL at 19 I’m 20 now I’ll be 21 in 5 months and can’t find a job no where to start I’m in Houston I wanna do this and more I don’t care about the money I just wanna see more or Texas or OTR
Of texas **
Legally you can’t do OTR. Try food companies touch freight like Sysco
@@jonathandebrosse5622 you think they'' do no exp?
The trucking guru was exposed like two months about owning 140 trucks & I think Casey cooper is lying also
Only thing I don't agree with is how the super truckers talk about automatics, man can't no anybody drive an automatic and I don't want to be in traffic with a 18 speed truck and that automatic will get that load there just like the 18 speed ,but everything else he dropped was jewels
Thank you for your view point my friend
yeah, i agree with you bro.. i trained and tested on 18speed. but i prefer an automatic! can't be whackin the lot lizard in the head with that dam stick shift! 😂
forreal though, i dont like driving a stick 24/7 though.. maybe for a day if im bored but at work all day erryday nahhhh.
TruckingwithDev in the building 🤘🏽
Dang I was 2 when he started driving.. I've been driving for 4 years now I own 3 trucks
Whats your opinion on starting now trucking

So your staying alive in this economy with a dry van? With dry van rates being as low as they are?
Preach!!!!
OG was dropping gems however, you don’t decide rates the market does…you can deff make 6 figures in this industry still but you need to adjust and position your self to get that bag. If I can make 100k as a company driver I’d choose that any day of the week instead of being a owner operator.
How many company Drivers you know making 100k. Please let me know. I wanna go to that company
If U have DIRECT CUSTOMERS U control the Rates!!!!! Everything is on market!!!! It's about SERVICE & DIRECT CUSTOMERS RELATIONSHIPS!!!!!!
When u can fix ur truck u don't worry about def
I need to talk to old school
Ain't no feeling like peter-car-mo-bil-n! True LARGE -CAR!
My uncle is on year 31 my dad is on year 25 and I’m on year 2
Worse with the modern trucks, they aren't like old school where after you own them you get years of use. About the time you pay them off these days they are done, a straight up non stop money drain if you hold em. So there is no advantage, because the costs are endless or you just get lucky on some dice rolls.
💯 💯 💯
I swear I saw this guy today up here in Wisconsin. Probably grabbing cheese to head back to Texas. Kinda crazy if it was him cause I just watch this video before hitting the road.. lmk!
Lol I’ll ask him and let you know
Mike millions wat up cuz
Man I run 3 in trainee for Cr England
It’s the shipper or the receiver who’s paying the freight cost? We need to check them is that owner operator a millionaire
I make more money on the short runs. 100 miles radius $1100

Yeah I have no choice new authority to still have to pay bills and nobody willing to give me loads not yet.
I would love to talk to you please email me at ajavjackson89@gmail.com
I’m a new authority and nobody gives me a load but TQL so I’m surviving man , ya been in the game to long to even deal with TQL don’t knock it ..

OG A1
People sleep on the LTL freight lol.
Even if you get 10mpg, that 1700$ run is still a scam
That nanny state hardware will never produce good drivers
they need to stop with the flip flops and being slouchy looking…it’s unprofessional and embarrassing as a professional…
Yup, a company that needs driver cameras and does not deserve to hire drivers at all. A driver should be expected to have their own camera system, not this prison cell company camera garbage.
Bro if you’re getting $3 a mile to go from NC to TX ima need that brokers number! I respectfully call BS on that my guy.
My last job got 3 a mile from TN to PA or TN to WI good loads only if 4wheeler didnt crash into my truck
LTL freight will get u $3 or more
Allot of drivers can get 3ml just gotta get together and nobody move unless its 2ml or more
Nothing bu facts
That brother, sound like a predator on the move

I just shared u on my community post . 👍🏿
A reefer motor is only a 3 cylinder diesel that’s why it doesn’t burn. A lot of fuel
His trailer is a spread axle.
Sir he’s explaining his truck in this video so what the hell are you talking about?
Schools are puppy mills
airheads lmao

Yea ok u bought that lie people work because they have to not because they love it
I’m from the projects bro I’ve been shot I’ve been to prison I’ve been gangbanging my whole life I get my CDL and this has to be one of the nastiest industries I’ve ever seen from this crooked companies to the drivers not helping each other the brokers the dispatchers the danger come on man 32 years this man drove on paper log when mfs use to smack 1k miles a day when it was good, drove during covid to I assume fuk out of here the goal is to retire and live life this buisness is at its lowest mfs are just stuck here and retire young to not when u 100 my dad been retired for a thousand years worked 25 years they stole his 401k and gets 1 k a month fuk out of here
CS, The bad things in our industry seem to go in cycles, from what I've seen over the last 38 years from when I got out of truck driving school in 1985 It's the bad stuff and never the good things that stick around too long. like people buying trucks without a CDL and then hiring an X-shoe salesperson to drive them...WTF. this was a thing in the mid-90s and they stopped after the 2000s started and now we go again. The brokers are another problem that needs to be fixed it continues to keep getting worse over time. keep doing what you are doing the industry needs this kind of advocacy and representation. Thanks, Keep on Trucking... DD😎🦾
Thank you so much Mr Diesel Dan
