    It's great to see that even after all the war he have been through, Ward is apparently very healthy, smiling and living a good live, only wish the best for this legend.

    The fight starts at 52 seconds left in the third round after Micky lands his 3rd liver shot, you can tell it hurts Gatti and he doesn't like it one bit. At which point he stops boxing and starts making history with Ward.

    Micky's liver punch to Gatti would have buried most fighters even higher in that weight division. And Gatti got up. What is sad about this fight is that I will never have the balls of Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti. But they will always be an inspiration. God bless Mickey and Arturo.

    I read about this fight in Boxing News in the UK about 2 weeks before I saw it. We had delayed coverage on a lot of big fights. I had two months of the build up excited for this fight right off. I loved Micky Ward from when he fought Neary in London and everybody knew about Gatti. I rode the crest of this wave for about three months - build up, reading about and waiting to see it, seeing it and then rembering how great it was. I don't remember seeing two men so well matched in this way. Brilliant. As soon I could get on dvd I did. You can watch these guys again and again and you'll never get bored. Warriors.

  • @Mackedo5
    @Mackedo5 3 роки тому +10

    Everyone seems to forget the second fight, but I strongly believe that it's JUST as noteworthy and amazing as the third. Ward was fighting with a broken inner ear. He literally had to fight himself just to stay erect, much less fight back. The fact that he remained competitive in that battle speaks volumes about these two legends.

    Watching round nine brings people to tears, because they have an instinct inside of them, in all or most of us, that when we witness true courage in the face of adversity, true bravery, a rarely seen thing, we become that fighter, we feel the courage deep in our hearts, we will them both to win, because we realise neither deserve to lose, and we just wish we could have the courage that these guys had to spare. This is why we love boxing. This IS boxing. Boxing is life. Every human emotion we have comes into boxing. 💥🥊

    Their rivalry was the best in the history of the sport, all three fights are in the top 20 of all time IMO. As a fan it is hard to see what happened to them both, Gatti RIP and Ward with CTE symptoms...its the one thing fans do not understand that their glory comes at an extremely high cost, very few of them later in age dont have major issues physically and mentally and all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for the greatness in all of them I was able to observe in my life.

    As fantastic as Ward-Gatti 1 was if you haven't seen Micky Ward vs. Emmanuel Augustus do yourself a favor, because in my opinion that fight was even better! Pretty much all action from the opening bell to the final seconds of the fight. Just incredible!

    being very familiar w/ both fighters, being from NE, and knowing that Mickey Ward is never out of a fight, I heard the pre- fight hype where Gatti (who should've known better w/ all his wars )seriously underestimated MW. saying "I'm not worried at all about the Ward fight", and looking past him. I remember thinking "you learn hard, son" anyone who's seen the Zab Judah interview (made recently)knows that at any time, Ward can, and will, land a devastating body shot. what a fight. Mickey says of the pain , "it lingers",but he landed those shots rather than felt them. ZJ managed to hide it, but usually, a guy... Oscar DLH/BHop, Ward/Sanchez ,Ward/Gatti ,is so visibly affected by it, that it's obvious he needs some recovery time.that's why Oscar was counted out, despite what he and others have said. Gatti's reluctance to mix it up just after getting up, is because to throw a shot, means to upset the spot where it's killing him. nobody ever doubted AG's toughness.before or after.
