I-no: -Is a witch -Does not use magic Asuka: -Is a scientific -Science is usually portrayed as the opposite of magic -Uses magic Man I love Guilty Gear
I think it could be argued that time travel is some form of magic use (it is a supernatural ability), but that is a discussion for another day... What I do find hilarious is that Asuka is a mage, and I-No is a witch - in RPG terms, this is just a male and female version of the same class - they also share the exact same height.
almost every single character in guilty gear uses magic to some sort of extent. if not in combat, then to perform mundane tasks. I-no definitely uses magic, separate from her time travel. how does she contort her hat to spew flaming notes? or produce soundwaves so strong to the point of inflicting physical trauma?
@daytona.jackie humg has a point. Also, guard crush removes cross up protection so he can cross you up at any time within the 5 bit shift cubes, good luck
I watched these matches live on Daru-I-No's stream; and despite Gobou and Daru_I-No being acquainted with each other (he asked Daru to bring him home-made jelly for AWT), they do not play each other very much anymore. Moreover, seeing Daru get perfects against Asuka players is not uncommon (I've seen him get 5 in ft3 set), but when Gobou gets double-perfected in a set, then you probably should get concerned... To summarize: This is what happens when you face another player on the same level as you, with the same amount of match-up knowledge as you - and your opponent plays the character with the advantage - truly one of a player's worst fears. Further, Daru typically obliterates other Asuka players (like アトラ, Chocoservant, etc), but it seems that Gobou took them by surprise in these sets; it makes sense, as Gobou is on another level compared to the those other Asuka users they play, and knows how to fight I-No - and understands Daru's playstyle very well. Asuka is also a stronger character than I-No, so there is that, too. I think it's also worth mentioning that Gobou said he was playing bad this day, and said his Asuka was really weak in comparison to their good days. I think Gobou was just nervous about the event that day, and kind of psyched themselves out. Overall, both players did well during these sets. In conclusion, it is always a treat to see these two players go at it; because both Gobou and Daru_I-No are my favorite GGST players, and I find myself wanting both of them to win when they have to play in each other in tournaments, but that is not possible... I am excited to see what these two amazing players bring to AWT.
0:11 the reason why daru said i-no's 6hs is bad. pro players like gobou can instant block second hit and punish it so daru usually rc if it's blocked (4:45)
@@Donobro asuka could use some love on his normals, all his specials and spells are fine right now. Asuka basically dies or has to turtle up and get chipped out when his mana runs out, he just needs some better defensive moves
I'm just saying, most of his normals are comically negative on block because they're designed to combo into a spell, at least give him a standard bread and butter gatling to keep him somewhat threatening while you try to get meter back
Asuka doesn't need better normals; I understand they are somewhat mediocre compared to many of the other top tiers, but his strong pressure makes up for his lacking normals. You just have to use system mechanics with this character to get out of tough situations, like Zato. Moreover, I know it doesn't look like it, but JK, 5K, JS, and 5HS are amazing normals for this character - we don't need another Chaos, where after your opponent finally gets close to you, their character's normals lose to yours and it leads to a counter-hit combo for you that most likely costed them the round/game. We don't need every match-up in Asuka's favor - or 5:5 at the worst, due to the character having normals that just about every character has a hard time contesting, as well as incredibly oppressive zoning - like pre-nerf HC... Also, ASW designs the characters' playstyle based on their lore - Asuka cannot brawl in the lore, so he will never have super strong normals like Chaos and Nago, that's why his normals are the way they are.

I-no does use magic though? Her guitar and summons are usage of magic.

Based on your comment it looked like Gobou lost but the results are 4:2 in Gobou's favor. It confuses me.

Is it me or is the gameplay sped up?
The round timer is counting down at regular speed. Gobou just operates Asuka at a different level of speed compared to most other players.
Nah it's just that they are super insane
