Watching Asuka and my eyes are squarely on this card stuff and i’m still impressed. He’s switching test cases(test case 1), searching for a specific card(reduced mana cost), then goes back to test case 3. That’s probably standard but every second I am still losing track between looking at the actual fighting game and the card meter chaos on the bottom left. Amazing
The end result is what I expected, two legends match each other. Although if it were a tournament, Daru would have won this one, since he got to 3 first.
This isn't a real FT5, the uploader can hand-pick the matches they think are the most interesting. This was most likely just a long set Gobou and Daru played.
There's something called tension balance in strive which is pretty much just the game calculating how much meter to give the players. If this value reaches 25000, then the player who lands an attack will get positive bonus.
Positive bonus is triggered with tension balance hits 25000. Each super gives about 10000 tension balance. After positive bonus ends (like after the wallbreak), tension balance is reset to 12000. So all Asuka has to do is 2 Supers in a row quickly enough and he can trigger Positive Bonus without a wallbreak or homing jump.
This is driving me nuts. Someone please asnwer this question. At 1:13 Asuka breaks the wall and look at the four spells he has, and then he immediately casts the multi-cube spell......but none of his spells are used and none of the spells he had were the multi-cube spell....where the heck did it come from? Watch the bar and tell me how i'm wrong. Even if it's super fast, you'd see the spell being used which you do when he casts the first actual spell on the bar which is the punch spell that gives auto-bookmarking.
At 1:09, just before the wallbreak he cast the spell called Sampler 404, which means that the next spell cast is not consumed. This allowed him to cast the Arpeggio (multi-cubes) and keep another copy in his hand.
Frrrr!!! The thing is it's not even hard (and Im saying that, and I suck), but it looks so slick and is hella useful. I've been fishing for it every match lmao
@@elderlich7562 lol yeah it's so lame how underwhelming the other test cases feel in comparison. You get more cubes with fast/slow staves, more cubes with bouncy/heavy staves (and a million god damn mana Regen cards), or you get infinite cubes with staves that make your opponent wonder when they get to play
The one thing that seems to suck about Asuka, is that you can tell very early on when he's going to lose. Once he starts getting steam rolled, once he's spent 70% mana without doing any damage and suddenly she's on top of him in the corner, the round is over even if he has full health. It's just done. No chance of coming back. It's insane how much health Asuka has to give away to keep his mana since the health regen one is the only practical one apparently, but i'm over here watching dude give away like 40% of his health or more over the course of a round. Only to then barely chip away at the opponent. If i'm fighting an asuka, i might just sit back and let them kill themselves.
Using his health as a resource is not a big deal when he has some of the highest damage potential in the game (although easily behind the likes of the Powers and Sol), full-screen lockdown and the best damage resistance in the game, I’d say it’s worth lol
Oh no, Asuka is a good character!? Well, he has to get nerfed or reworked now so I can get a free win off of him. Let's find the next character that's strong so we can nef them as well bc having a strong character is a no-no for some reason 🙄

Any time Gobou loses a round you can count on him fighting 3x harder the very next lol
both of the high level players that make me forget that the alt palettes they use aren't the regular palettes for either of the actual characters

1:06 Full screen burst does nothin against the cubes of destruction
Because he blocked the burst.
Wow at sequence and comeback in the first game of the final set
That second round was insanity with the staff and the slow cubes absolutely stopping Daru from playing the game
15:30 what I'd give to see a handcam of him doing one of these sequences.
Wait how did Asuka get positive bonus at 5:30? I can’t be the only one who saw that
