      It’s good to redo formations, I know my early formations are lacking compared to the ones really feeding strong characters like Berenice. She does like 9 hits, it’s just stronger. I like my early units for their survivability and adaptiveness but if I have Berenice guard the base nothing will happen.

    One of my best squads has been a slightly modified version of the fire burst squad you showed. Rather than running a second wizard, I went with auch for fire burst, selvie for debuff support for survivability, Rolf with the flame bow for extra burn application, and a tank unit. For a while that was hodrick, but I eventually swapped in lex and later swapped Rolf for berengaria. Once I got access to it, I ran the sandstorm staff on selvie with a carnelian pendant and a promotion to druid, and with only a few minor adjustments to tactics (mostly to take down a pesky arbalist promoted unit that shut the team’s damage down), this squad pretty comfortably swept through the colosseum up until the last couple floors where I needed the extra power of a fifth unit to overcome the fact that I was fighting promoted units twice my level.
    Another neat combo I found while doing the colosseum was pairing Travis or another thief with a Viking or housecarl at level 25 for their war horn ability. War horn procs at the start of battle and makes your attacks unguardable, then the thief is able to use passive steal to guaranteed bypass any guard and steal the target’s passive points. Pairing this with the sandstorm druid selvie, auch for burn damage, and a tank was how I managed to beat the boss of the colosseum and get a unit the game definitely doesn’t intend you to have when the rest of your units are level 20-21 except for the level 25 war horn bot

    Yeah! Glad to see my boy Auch getting the appreciation he deserves. Familiar choker fireburst sweeps!
    Anyway, a couple squads I've cooked up(shamelessly stolen from the game itself):
    1. Swordfighter + Witch + Hunter. Prioritize Dual Shot on the hunter, and give both the physical attackers crit builds. The idea is to maximize magic conferral with crits. True hit is just the icing on top. I've also found some success with Gambler's coin on a tank in front, for an extra source of PP.
    2. Double offensive curse shaman + sellsword + tank. The tank I use is a radiant knight to deal with magic. Another one I stole from the game itself, though it they used double gladiators, I was impressed by the damage reduction anyway.
    3. Knight + hoplite + knight backrow, with radiant knight front row. Set the hoplite to only cover physical attacks. Once the knights promote to great knights, the cavalier call stacks can even break through armored units. The game sorta teaches you backwards, with hoplite in front and rad knights at the back, but the hoplite's cover works better this way against area attacks.

      I like your #3 tip. I've been ignoring my hoplite because I couldn't figure out a good use for him. I have 2 archers with pursuit skill in the back, and they do a great job with my thief and griffin.

    Omg... putting the same move twice into the move set makes so much sense. I didn't think about it. That way you can kinda tell your unit "prioritize..." even if there is no option for that. Like fire burst. It can't be set to "prioritize buning". But by putting two different fire burst it basically can. That will help me a lot in the future

  • @Rangilogy

    Something to consider for comp 1 is for Travis' Powerful Call to only trigger when he has 2+ PP just incase he wiffs his PP steal move. Though you can ignore this condition if you want to lean on a thief's solid evasion stat

    A really op unit formation I have is putting Alain in the front, and the other 3 slots at the back being Scarlett, Rosalinde and Eltolinde. It makes Alain unkillable plus really heavy damage, Scarlett having Thunderbrand Tome while Eltolinde having Gambler’s Coin makes Alain’s damage do like 200+. Rosalinde is there for finishing off other units who survives Alain 👍🏼

    I run Melisandre with the accessory that increases her crit chance and crit damage via PP after an attack and have Artenie only activate when a scout is present so she doesnt waste any PP to whiff. On top of a unit you can get later that gives PP when a unit uses PP and have it target the highest crit to keep her going

  • @despeinado340
    @despeinado340 3 дні тому

    I'm currently making my way through Bastorias. Some of my favorite units are: Melissandre on the front, Leah and Aramis on the back edge, and Josef on the middle back. Melissandre has a silk scarf, meaning that she pretty much dodges most things and parries what she doesn't. Aramis has a Dancer's Bracelet, so he boosts the Meteor slashes of Leah and Melissandre. Whoever manages to stand their attacks gets pursued by Josef.
    Another formation is two dark knights and a knight in front, one shaman and Scarlett on the back. One of the dark knights has the Lifeshare shield, so he can both split his health and protect the others on the front. Scarlett has the Gravekeeper boots and the Resurrection staff, so if one of the dark knights bites it, she gains one AP and resurrects him at 1HP for a devastating blow.

    One of my favorites currently is a party with Aramis up front, with Gilbert, Berenice, and a free slot currently occupied by Colm (will most likely replace with some kind of healing off-tank soon). Gave Aramis the War Cry bracelet and Gilbert a good +initiative accessory, and the team becomes death for pretty much any unit without a full front line of armor to tank.
    Having said that, it’s really hard to find anything that can beat a fully-stacked Cavalry Call team. Clive, Monica, Adel in front with some kind of anti-armor or anti-dodge in the back, and the team is just zipping across the map dealing 400+ dmg to anything they touch 😅

    The squad I'm currently using with Ochlys consists of Ochlys alone in the Front Row, and in the back row I have Auch, Morganne (a generic Witch), and Sebile (Shaman). So far that squad has been tearing things up like there's no tomorrow. I also gave Ochlys the accessory that lets her counterattack every time she's attacked, and it turns the squad into a monster that mostly focuses on debuffing the enemy and buffing Ochlys as she dodges just about everything they throw at her and she launches a counterattack every single time she gets targeted. It's probably even better than my Alain Squad (consisting of Alain, Travis, a generic Shaman, & Scarlett).
    Thus far I've liberated all of the available regions in the starting area (up to the level 14 Liberation that can potentially net you Tatiana depending on your choice at the end) and I have only just obtained Virginia & Leah, so I'm still pretty early in the game.

    Theas are decent. From very early on I had a Griffin Knight hire unit with a focus on crit and evade with Yahna using her passive skills to buff. I call this team the Magic Shredder. I'm in Drakenhold and it's still very useful. The 3rd Unit I was using for a while was Bruno as a way to double down on a AOE sweep but now I've replaced him with a 'spoiler' character with a spear that reduces their Initiative so I can make sure Yahna is buffing the Knight.

      Similar setup for me, except I have a gladiator instead of a housecarl and both he and the griffon are on the frontline. Set the griffon knight to cleave the back row and the gladiator to cleave the front row, witch buffs them with armor-piercing, shaman debuffs enemies attacking so the two frontliners can survive, it's been fun seeing them just sweep cavalry squads.

  • @wilssantos2
    @wilssantos2 2 місяці тому

    I'm still around level 8, but I've come to some cool compositions that I'm enjoying a lot. I have one team with Bruno at the front, the wizard and a cleric at the back. The cleric has the accessory that makes her buff the wizard, and because she doesn't attack, the -50% mag attack debuff is neglected. The wizard prioritizes armored opponents and back row; Bruno prioritizes the row with most enemies. Then if anything is left alive by the end of the battle, they explode :)
    Another one is the thief at the front, Lex and the original cavalier at the back. The thief poisons armored enemies and steals pp for sweet dodges; Lex protects the thief from true arrows; and the cavalier just sweeps anything that is left alive.
    Another one that is just busted is Alain at the front, the witch and anyone else at the back (I use the axe merc guy, the one that attacks at the end of battles, but the sellsword is even better). The witch gives Alain (or anyone attacking first) the ability to deal magic damage to armored targets, plus it freezes high priority enemies that eventually go after her. Alain is just a very good character anyways. And the axe merc or sellsword sweeps.
    There are many cool ways to form teams, and these will get even stronger when they all have access to four characters (I use a soldier with Alain's team, for example, and that's great for more survival). This game is really good.

  • @aureliodeprimus8018

    This is still from the demo, since my special edition only arrives on Monday, but my favorite squad is with Sharon (cleric) in the back, Travis (thief) in the middle front and Bruno (gladiator) in the front right. The only gear special is a Lapis Pendant and Hallowed Mace on Sharon to get an additional pp for "Refresh" (regain hp at the beginning of an active action), with Travis gear simply increasing dodging and Bruno having HP up and guardsmen lantern to be immune to burn.
    The result is a team that i can basically throw at everything to soften up difficuilt encounters like bosses, since Travis barely gets hit and Bruno can take the punishment with his high hp and Sharons help. Bruno also can reliably remove the front row, allowing to deal with bosses in the back like Auche safely.
    So, what kind of unit would you add as a fourth one to that setup, Titanium?^^ Just out of curiosity.^^

      You could setup the other wizard to attack on turn 2. This allows wizard 1 to attack, then on turn 2 provide the boost without a reduction to damage. If the wizards are attacking after the enemy, the bonus damage from burn is irrelevant anyway since the enemy wouldn't be using any active skills to trigger the burn damage. This is assuming the enemy also has just 1 AP. With both wizards having the same initiative, which wizard attacks first is random I believe. You could also use an item to boost the supporting wizard's initiative so they attack before their support skill activates on the second wizard.

    I have a double wombo combo team with Hilda as the centerpiece and the burning chloratic stretegy as a harsh backup. Later in the game you can find Hilda and a special item called a dragoon war spear or dragoon lance, anyways its the only weapon that has dragoon in the title, her class is the only one that can equip this weapon i think so far, it allows her to go into a charging stance and after it completes she attacks all enemies, i Have a hoplite in front and a shaman, Hilda, and Warlock in back, the Warlock picks up the Chloratic and the shamen uses the Fire Hex Staff allowing you to burn a entire row. i also uses powerful call, war cry and flame conferral. So when Hilda's attack goes off she hits everyone with a fire attack, I give her Wyvern Reins that grants her Truestrike and a damage buff if shess 100%. this squad instantly KO's just about everything in comes into contact with exceept for a few enemy squads that I barely remember.

The double shot from the hunters getting boosted just kills almost everything in the game, and the frontliner can heal itself or the entire backline, and they are an awesome support unit for other squads during any stage and are completely untouchable from guardtowers.

    • @SarcasticTentacle
      @SarcasticTentacle 2 місяці тому

      To add to this another good tactic I like is using your thieves not as dodge tanks but buff bots. Placing them in the back row allows them to steal PP and then use it to buff your other attackers. This is better than having a buffer in a squad with a thief tank since most buffs are set to automatically be cast on whomever attacks first which with a thief's high initiative is often them.
      That said this is a later game tactic as it won't really work before you have four slots (and the gear to give your thieves support skills) unless your tank is self sustaining. Early game you could go with Arlain/Sangine blade Lex, thief buffer and a third heavy hitter. You could also have a Gryphon as your tank if you really want to blitz everything, just be very wary of truestrike.

    Maybe someone can answer a question I've been having with the tactics? Okay so for HP by percent and HP by just HP. I think it's cause I don't really understand the difference between the two. How do you judge what to set for healing or attack? When should you use lowest hp% or just lowest hp for example?

    Nah, single specialized tank on front line and 3 dps on back works best (or 2 dps and 1 healer, some tanks, specially the high evasion ones don't need healers).
    I'm not using generics, since you don't really need them and i'm pairing the classes i have multiple of with themselves, 3 warriors, 2 ranged, 2 sellswords, etc, that way they become specialized against a type of unit, which is really needed for hardest difficulty. And all of my squads have cav or flying as leaders for mobility, except thief (faster than flying) and berengalia mostly for defending base (which i pair with both mages and the elf, they can deal with almost anything the game can throw at them).

    Man I’m hoping I don’t regret not recruiting Nina, she was really strong in the demo but I had completely forgot that you need to speak with her with her sister before taking her out while I was doing fresh save and catching up. I had saved literally right after completing the map and noticed she didn’t join but it was too late lmao
    Can probably sub her out for other units later but it’s definitely gonna bug me that I missed a character.
    Anyways one of my better squads right now is a sweeping team consisting of Frontline: Bruno, Berenice, Backline: Adel, Sharon.
    +Bruno is pretty much there to hit rows and soften them up if he doesn’t outright take them out with a Carnelian Pendant to give him the extra swing.
    +Berenice I have front lining because I gave her the Sanguine Blade which she will only use the active if she’s below 50%, otherwise she uses Heavy Slash if they have high hp or Killing Chain when below 50%. Accessories are Carnelian Pendant and Warriors Medallion just in case she needs the extra action to soften them up first or a miss happens and the extra Phys stats + crit rate.
    +Adel is just there to do Knight stuff, Unwavering Spear for scouts/fliers, Wild Rush on columns and Assaulting lance to get going. Recruit shield and Merc Eyepatch, will replace the shield later.
    +Sharon is there to keep everyone patched up, no special staff as of right now and has the Charm of Warding, since this team really lacks magic defense, and a Lapis Pendent for any extra heals or warding to throw out when needed. Main reason I have Berenice only use Sanguine Attack at half Hp since she’ll likely get topped up by Sharon already, but if unable to she has the back up heal.
    My other squads are a bit past the Demo point or I’m still tweaking them out, but this one is for sure one that’s done me pretty well. Only really struggles against high armor enemies but I have another squad to deal with Armors, so no big deal.

    It's true pain wanting to play with "canon" units like pairing Lex and Chloe together or Alain and Scarlett but most of those types of units aren't super viable on the hardest difficulty. Love your videos and guides even if I don't necessarily copy them much. Lastly, the name Fabienne is pronounced like "Fah-bee-n" with the last n just being like your saying the letter N on its own. This is the closest I'll ever get to my name being in a game and it's the girl version lol.

      @evazinz9755 2 місяці тому

      they are pretty viable even on harder difficulties based on my experience. A cav based team with Alain in the front row with a great knight + another defense speced great knight or doom knight, being supported by scarlett + 1 (I use chloe as my 5th) is probably my second best performing team when testing in the offline arena. Fighter/vanguards and soldiers/sergeants really shine as a 5th party member option rather than being the core of a team, with that said you can easily build them for the main core of a team depending of how you gear them, for example if you give the vanguard a large aid kit + a lapis and/or azure crest shield etc + appropriate tactics, he can easily be the main sustain/tank for a flying based core. I am not actually end game yet (i have done the offline arena even a bit past the champion while underleveled, so i have fought super end game teams) but every class I have come across has been viable in some way even if they seem niche. Even the hoplite/legionaire class which seems like a 1 dimensional tank with a glaring weakness to anti-armor/magic on paper, shines in the late game as a tank once it gains access to its later class skill.

    • @sammon1415

      I've been running Chloe, Lex and Rolf as backliners for the Gryphon Knight lady. Gryphon Knight tanks and slays cavalry, Lex blocks arrows, Rolf handles true strike + handles other fliers, Chloe adds extra anti-cavalry damage and utility. They're my go-to for deleting cavalry and fliers.
      As for Alain and Scarlett, I think that Scarlett had some sort of ability that gives an ally +1 PP when she "receives" an ally's passive, so Alain's guard skills probably have a nice interaction there.

    There’s a problem with your True Thrust on Clive. It will correctly only trigger when there is a scout present. However, nothing is configured to hit the scout if he uses the move. You need Condition 2 to be “Scout”. You need Condition 1 to be “Prioritize Scouts”.

    • @aliasonarcotics
      @aliasonarcotics 2 місяці тому

      this is wrong on both counts. just one ‘scout’ condition is enough to trigger true thrust on scouts, ‘prioritise scouts’ is completely redundant. the problem is that he put true thrust below the priority for wild rush so the ai will always use wild thrust as long as there is a column, even if the column has thieves. what he needs to do is put the true thrust line above wild rush

    Don't know why many folks have been complaining about how junky Lex is. I've been using him as a squad leader since the start and he's quite capable if you pair him up properly with the correct unit members and equipment. I have him in the front row as a tank and Cloe in the back to heal. Essentially I followed the game's suggestion of pairing them up and gave Cloe the spear with truestrike. I think Clive was then added to the back row to assist, but I'd have to check my team build later. Once you can unlock 3 or more members to a team, you can get some really interesting synergy builds going.
    For your second squad, that's almost the same as mine. Instead of the Griffon, I'm using Alain. Also instead of Stephan, I'm using the Witch. Alain's the sole tank and the other 3 are in the back row, with the Angel behind Alain. I can't remember the item he has, but I recall the skill being Guarding Fighter. When he gets hit by an attack and triggers Noble Guard, the Guarding Fighter also triggers because it activates on successful guard. It provides him with an attack bonus, allowing for increased damage. I have him setup to not attack the first round, so he gets the guarding buff and then attacks during round 2 instead with Poison. Exception is when attacking Cavalry units, similar to your Alain setup. Lean Edge is setup to hit only if he's low on health. I just recently got that Stingray blade. If Alain can use it, I'll be swapping it with the Viper weapon. Having him first strike the lowest HP or lowest defensive enemy for 2 extra PP would allow that boost combo noted above to trigger twice.
    You have some really nice build examples. Gives new players options to work towards as they unlock 2 to 3, then 3 to 4 slots in a unit. By the time they get to the quest to save Scarlett, they should have 1 squad of 4 already unlocked if I recall, maybe 2 unless they were grinding for honor.

    Tbh 2 soldiers is going to be good in most early game units. Their damage and hesling is usually enough to sustain teams and win combats. They just need support in actually killing things
