Big Flips you should try a blade grab aerial. I’ve worked on it and got it a few times. Hold it in blade grab position and make it lay vertical to the ground. Then push your index down while swinging up and throw. Land in icepick grip.

Thank you for doing a slow motion breakdown on how to perform this beginner opener trick. There are so many inconsiderate people posting videos on "beginner opener methods" and they record their tutorials at FULL 60FPS SPEED. Guys. If you want to actually teach people how to flip, stop recording "tutorials" while you flip at full speed at a terrible camera angle. Some people need to lean some basic video editing skills. However the man demonstrating the Figure 8 didn't need slow motion video because he actually BROKE IT DOWN STEP BY STEP BY HAND.
I can understand advanced tutorials might not need to be slowed down, because by that point you know how to handle your Bali song proficiently.

Hello, I've been viewing your instructional videos... I'm trying to go through the recommended cycles anyway, In this video you demonstrated a figure eight wherein, the live end of the blade is "facing upward". You critiqued the figure eight and mentioned it was not as practical in use "maybe useful for cutting rope but, still cool".
You teach tricks and I like them... I practice FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) and would use the blade objectively which would be stabbing and slashing generally in a combat situation however, there is also a non-lethal way to use the Balisong which would be defensively. Defensively, here's how, you would use the Balisong as a Dulu (Yawara, Stylus) take note of the blunt point when the Balisong is close and lock. In this position you would strike the opponent with the blunt point which would be non-lethal (defensive) the blade is deployed (quick draw) if, the fight becomes dire and self-preservation is the objective... The blunt end of the blade is used for trapping or immobilization which is, non-lethal. Anyway, "thumbs up on the figure eight" it is a practical use of the Balisong!
