Keybinds and settings and stuff. / ziggylata Wednesday - Sunday / discord Discord I will be uploading daily, this is video number 54. Music: Oblivion OST
I have rebound overhead and stab to mouse 4 and 5. Heavy attacks are just a matter of holding the button in, instead of scrolling and holding mouse 1. For alt attacks I just use the "alt attack" bound to shift, rather than binding alt stab, overhead and slash to 3 different keys. I have bound throw to middle mouse button. The default G means I can not easily strafe right and throw at the same time. Also for me personally, having throw bound on the mouse just feels more connected to aiming the throw. Having it bound to the keyboard for me feels like fire being bound to the keyboard in a shooter. Flourish moved to G as not needed in combat.
Wow, I was waiting until you posted again so I could ask you this very question! Thanks Ziggy. There isn't a default key bind for heavy overheads last I checked.
@@firstspar special attack on mouse 3, jab on mouse 4, overhead on mouse 5, and stab on the thumb mouse button. you're gonna need to do a bit of messing around with the settings depending on your mouse.
@@sayakaplendl8895 thanks, this makes sense. I have 4 useable buttons on my mouse. (logitech g502). So seems the right way to go. It means i can make any attack heavy with a long press.
My layout is SUPER WEIRD: LMB - alt slash MB4 (thumb forward) - slash MMB - alt overhead MB3 (thumb back) - overhead Alt - alt stab L Shift - stab Mouse wheel - cancel attack E - jab R - use Q - default
Played Chiv1 for ten years using default keybindings and doing the same with Chiv2. Learning hit canceling using default "V" was tricky at first but after some time felt natural since it was the dodge button for man at arms in Chiv1
I bound my alt overhead to shift. I found it really helpful and easy to use. Double overheads are really hard to defend against unless you have a keybind set and when I have it bound to shift key it's really easy to just spam it and get easy hits. It gives even veteran players a really hard time.
This was worth it. I lost my favorite one handed keyboard after over 10yrs of muscle memory only to learn they don't make that type anymore. I cried a little bought as close as I could get and no longer have the full muscle memory, that sucks. So I'm fukin with keybinding all the time. I love the double bind q with those choices without conflict. I shall call it "ziggys Q-tip". Okay, not a good joke but I work with what I've been given.
@@Girrrrrrrr The belkin N52 Speed pad? I do like them & back in the arena shooter days it would have been perfect. Now I have the Redragon K585 RGB one hand with around 30 keys & it has become too little for the games I play these days like post scriptum & star citizen or the worst keybind nightmare Arma 3. Ya need 2 full keyboards & 3 arms to use all their keybinds. Chivalry 2 uses more keys inputs than I thought it would if I get detailed about it. I now know what those small keypads are called, I had no idea, "nostromo" Thanks.
@@Girrrrrrrr I looked at them before I bought the one I have now & I was afraid I would fuk up with that many side button. I was use to 3 side buttons and the corsair M65 Pro optical mouse was on sale so I grabbed that. I was replacing my G402 which I loved but it wore out. Now I wish I had gone with more buttons. Maybe next time around.
@@TheRealJablam I agree, razor software is a headache I can do without. I would sacrifice my left testicle for a thumbstick, I can think of so many uses for that. I gotta check that out. Thanks for the info.
I was literally messing with key bindings last night. I'm use xbox controller on PC and I want to stop having jab & duck be the same button (Right stick click/hold). Would rather it be a stab & right bumper be the overhead, but it seems that jab is hard coded in the game. This makes it awkward for me countering for overheads since I have to use the same finger to block and then counter. But I also find it interesting that I could bind two of the same actions to the same button and have them trigger at the same time. So if for some weird reason you wanted your slash to always feint into an overhead, you could map that have a separate button for it like a mini macro.
dude i was scrolling trough the keybinds after just installing the game and came upon the "cancel attack" bind and was like... hmm i should probably look this one up to see if its important. And clearly it was cause it was the first thing you said haha so thanks.
I think alt slash and overhead were already bound to your mouse buttons by default but maybe this was recently changed and 8 months ago that wasn't the case. For me at least these functions were already bound to my mouse keys by default when i started playing.
hey, at least this video inspired me to revamp my controls in a way I like them, now it's just a matter of internalizing them lol also, I have the same mouse as ziggy, that means I'm good at chiv 2, right?
Is there a way to bind cancel and parry to the same binding, similar to Mordhau's Feint to parry rebind option? I've tried in Chiv 2 but can't find anything.
Yeah it's super weird in chivalry 2. You can kinda directly go into counter (Mordhau chambering) while attacking which is similar to chivalry 1 feint Into parry. And when you attack and hold block, after an agonising amount of time, you morph your attack into block. But it always felt way too slow for my taste. The counter is quicker in my feeling. But I also really would like an answer from Ziggy on this. Maybe even a video.
Do you know if there's anyway to bind the archers zoom to anything other than rmb? Archer fire seems to be tied to slash, but the zoom is rmb no matter what I do. I use jump/dodge on rmb and it's a pain in the ass to switch it every time, because it creates this domino effect where I have to switch every single bind
One of the worst control shemes in any video game. Why do we need dedicated keybinds for every basic thing? Why can't I stab by looking down? And slash from top by, I don't know, looking up? Like in any other video game? This is like old FPS video games where you use your keyboard to look arround instead of your mouse. I refunded at tutorial while trying to fix the keybinds. I'm glad you guys are having fun tho.
I'm struggling with PS5 controller being almost perfect with except for Jab/crouch being on the RS and no where for me to rebind one of them to. Having to press and hold to active crouch also is a huge disadvantage. Would appreciate some input here. Feinting and Taunt being on the same button is also hugely annoying. I wish I could disable taunt wheel.
I dont understand people honestly. Just key bind your controls to your own preferences, why do you need to copy somebody else ? See what is more comfortable and easy to use for yourself ! Is it that hard ? As a rule of thumb, all important keys must be easily within reach without you having to take your eyes away from the keyboard. Just experiment people.
Nothing about copying here, ziggys played a lot so it helps at least in my case to know what buttons are more important. I for instance didn't end up using mouse wheel for my oh and stabs but I do use it for an alt slash. My special attack used to be on my mouse wheel but I found i didn't use it too much. Now I've settled on a scheme I like after seeing what someone better than me has done and I feel like I got there a little faster :)
Sometimes there are hard dos and don'ts for keybindings that people just don't know that experienced players might be able to provide insight on. For example the very first thing he talks about, the sprint attack/special thing, is something I hadn't thought of that provides some extra options when sprinting. It's good advice. Why are you so offended that people might wanna know what options top players use when playing the game?
@@SlamFisher Every player has his own style in the end. Finding what works best for YOU is most important, sure you can take some advice. As for me, its like this : Q special attack, R for alternate attack, no need for separate button for feint as pressing another attack key does a faint, g for kick, special mouse button for throw, some I ignored like doing a flourish or faint. Left click, mouse wheel press and right click for the 3 types of attack.

I've bound left click to stab since I main rapier a whole lot, slash to scroll up and overheads to scroll down.
the problem with this is it becomes very difficult to start an alt attack while crouched
It always drove me crazy that I couldn't split out the sprint attack from the special, thanks for that dude!
Interesting video. This should be what is most comfortable for whoever is playing
Wow, I was waiting until you posted again so I could ask you this very question! Thanks Ziggy. There isn't a default key bind for heavy overheads last I checked.
Scroll wheel then left mouse button.
I honestly think it's best to take over head and stab off the mousewheel. That way they work just like your slashes do on the LMB.

I rebound cancel attack to RMB and just removed cancel into parry because it seems redundant.

Special out of sprint is super useful
Attack direction from movement input, especially on console, is a nightmare. Don't enable it guys.

Comfort is priority one, but priority two is making sure every control you need is readily available and smoothly available.
I have changed all my controls for my tiny hand, .
I find it odd that you don't enable auto sprint. Any reason why?
I don't like it, I like having finer control over my movement.
what software are you using to show the fps?
